Sundown Audio

OK new poster here. i have an 09 silvy crew cab. my problem is BASS ,i dont have enough i have two re audio 8"s in a .6 cuft box at this point and the samething on the other side coming soon. im looking for advice on new subs. i only have about 5.5 inches of height in my downfire box. i can get upto 1.6 cubes total iv i build one box across the back but still limited to 5.5" height. any suggestions? thanks steve

i have been looking at getting an 12" fi ssd and its rated at 800 rms. I have also been lookin at amps and everyone has something good to say about sundown. Would the sundown sae 1200d be a good choice for the 12" fi ssd? thanks

ok i have no idea how to wire subs off the top of my head, i have just used charts. i have gathered 2 diff wiring picstures for wiring a 2ohm dvc sub down to 1ohm. one is from rockford fosgate and the other is from the jl audio website. they show different ways of wiring it. where do i go from here?

Was just thinking about where the future of Sundown Audio was heading. It seems to me the company is growing and becoming more and more popular. (correct if I'm wrong) At some point in time I am assuming there will be a need for a new larger warehouse or building, and plans on incorporating standard Bench Tests for all amplifiers? Of course I, as most of the people on the forum know what the ability is of Sundown amps, getting bench results with the amp is always a nice little extra.

Well,As I mentioned here. I did get a chance to hook up the second SAZ 3000D today. I measured a nominal 3 ohm load with each coil series and each woofer parallel to eachother. Anyway in theory there would be something to gain (stability if nothing else) running these subs strapped to the 3 ohm load. Initial testing reveals noticeable gain in output and in SQ. BUT there's a nasty engine noise from the subs now. Seems to not be effected by the gain. Both amps connected to the same battery (in the trunk) with <3ft lengths of #1/0 guage. resting at 12.6V car off (total 3 batteries in car). RCA is a 1.5ft piece of high qualtiy patch cable. Im going to be running a power hungry setup. two sundown 2000d to 2 orion hcca 15.2 subs.1 sundown 100.4 and 125.2. 3 sets of componets front & rear doors & kick panels. My question is why do people run 2 or 3 lines of 0 gauge to the back? also im running a 300amp alt 1 kinetik 2000 under the hood and two 2400s for the audio. im piecing everything together rite now should be done in a month. just waiting on the componets

I want to know what the damping factor is @1 ohm, 2ohm and 4ohm also wnat to know how many amps the amp takes from the electrical system at all ohms, should be ok on my stock alt 100amps

The current model Nightshade is officially discontinued. We used the last brand new motor in stock today. This is how the Sundown Audio line will look soon : Z series v.2 = 1500-watt RMS model * ETA is 6-8 weeks Nightshade v.2 = 2000-watt RMS model * ETA is mid 2010 (maybe sooner) Both of these new drivers will feature several new technological advancements compared to the Nightshade v.1 to improve power handling and output per watt (efficiency). Everything was working fine last night. This morning i turn on the car and i can hear static coming from the woofer. I figured it was the subwoofer coil rubbing or something. Well i try 2 other subwoofers and i get the same result. Everything seems to work fine except there's static that kind of sounds like rubbing styrofoam together. I tried everything to rule out other components and still the same result. Strangely enough the amp works fine apart from that. So i have no clue what to do now. Do i just send it in to get repaired or what? I never thought i'd have any problems with it. Any help would be appreciated.

I was surfin youtube on friday, and i ran across a video of someones red explorer. I thought it said (12) Sundown 8's so i click, expecting a goofy looking setup with a bunch of small woofers, and holy shit, its twelve nightshade 18's in an Explorer, with (6) SAZ-3000d's. Can anyone tell me anything about this setup? I was blown away when i saw it. I was just like, DAMN! Anyone know anything?

Yes ! Some pictures vs the SA-12. This thing is MEAN... cannot wait to get it in a box. VIDEO ! We had a 1500D @ 1 ohm on it... not using all the power, but we got on it pretty hard.

how much will each amp do at 0.5 ohms? i heard 2200 each, and strapped they would do around 4200. is this correct? also, has anyone wired it to 0.5 ohms and ran it daily? if so, did you have any problems with it?

I purchased a 1200D a while back, strapped it up worked great for a long while on the Xcon but as of recent it started cutting out. Power was still on, wasnt in protect ever. It would stay on the majority of the day and eventually at night it would work for 30 secs after i turned my car on then stop playing. Itd be fine for a few days, then happen again..but now it hasnt worked in a week. Any suggestions on what to look for? I switched the rca's and it didnt change anything. Any input would be great.

I have had lots of thoughts about hosting a competition in my neck of the woods. I have a shop that I know would be willing to team up with me to do it. I would want to eventually get the event to grow into something on a larger scale with SQ judging as well, but would start off with bassrace and db drags. Any comments or suggestions for hosting a show (especially if you have done so yourself) are great appreciated. Would also be great to see how many guys from Team Sundown could make it.

Could you run a 4500D on 16v at .5 at it not hurt it? someone told me with the independence rise it wouldnt hurt it...jw if you guys knew he answer o bwt it will be goin on 2 12" BTL's..
