Well,As I mentioned here. I did get a chance to hook up the second SAZ 3000D today. I measured a nominal 3 ohm load with each coil series and each woofer parallel to eachother. Anyway in theory there would be something to gain (stability if nothing else) running these subs strapped to the 3 ohm load. Initial testing reveals noticeable gain in output and in SQ. BUT there's a nasty engine noise from the subs now. Seems to not be effected by the gain. Both amps connected to the same battery (in the trunk) with <3ft lengths of #1/0 guage. resting at 12.6V car off (total 3 batteries in car). RCA is a 1.5ft piece of high qualtiy patch cable. Now if I ONLY remov…

We're working on a new build for the Excursion. 16 Sundown Audio sa-12s powered by 4 saz-3500s. Box sketch Close up of ports. Three 8" custom flared ports. Cutting the wood Laminating. The entire box will be at least two layers thick. Three & four layers in certain places. Starting the router work for the ports. I call this pic Cock & Balls. Lots more work to do. I barely got started on the port work. No where near done with that piece & I have two more identical pieces to build. Stay tuned...

I am considering an Eclipse CD7200 Mk II, which has 8v pre-outs. I'm wondering if there is going to be a compatibility issue since sundown amps are specified for up to 6 volts.

  6. I purchased 4 saz1500 amps. I have not purchased my subs yet. Would it be better to run an amp to each sub individually or link 2 amps together and run them to 2 subs each? I planned on buying a mlx-100 so signal loss will not be a problem.

I want to run 4 infinity kappa 6.5 2 way. What is the best starting point on the crossover? Set both crossovers at full? I am new to all this and have searched and searched but it seems most people are using this amp for componets. It will be ran off a Alpine cda 9886 which they advertise has a high pass crossover bilt into it for the front and rear preamp outputs. Will this amp do what I need it to do? The moer I read the more nervous I get that i made the wrong choice. Thankyou.

These subs will be built with used or blemished motors (cosmetic issues only). Got this truck through some horse trading... current setup was tested to do 154.3 dB @ 61 Hz with two Z15s and a clamped power of 5000 watts total. I want a more efficient setup so I am tearing it all down! Some pics of the current setup with the cap off and starting to tear down : Old wall has a great baffle - 7 layers thick - but the outside is too thin. It is one layer of MDF with super dense foam sandwiched between that and a thin layer of wood (I had that peeled off before the pics). It does have concrete above the front chamber, though, so that is not too bad. All in all I think it could be better so I am going to rip it out!

Hi everyone, I just picked up an E8 subwoofer and I want to build a ported box for it, just a basic rectangular design with a slot port. The specs call for a .60 ft^3 tuned to 30 Hz, but when I use my vent calculator, the port length is very long (100", using a port of 10.5" tall by 2" wide). My box can't be bigger than 30"W x 12"H x 12"D because of space limitations. Would I be able to make a good sounding box for the sub that won't exceed my max dimensions? Any suggestions? I was wondering what kind of specs (actual box size, net ft^3, tuning, etc.) are you single E8 users running? This will be my daily sub, so I'm looking for SQ, but still want it to wang for a si…

So... you want to know how much the SA-12 will take thermally ? Video starts at 14.5 amps (1740 watts) power drops off to the 1200 - 1400 watt range after the first 10 seconds and continues to play for a total of about 35 seconds at this power level. Never going below DOUBLE rated power for the entire time on straight sine wave wall socket power @ 60 Hz. The woofer is NOT broken but I decided to stop as the current continued to drop indicating the coil was getting too hot. I plan to use this one in my Jeep so I didn't want it to go until it quit http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/SA-12_Production/Wall-Socket/CIMG2652.MOV Fun stuff This is a Dual-2 -- first sample that I …

I dont have a problem doing that but i wanna make sure its what im looking for ,i want to be able to cruise around town and bump and let people hear me before they see me, and feel me when they see me. Alright so i get my sae 1200D and 12" fi bl installed saturday. drive around for 30 minutes and love it. stop to eat for about 45 minutes. when i come back and try to turn it on the sub makes a weird noise and the amp goes into protection mode. restart the car a couple of times and it does the same thing. take it to the place i got it installed and they rewire it and it still goes into protection and they hook up an alpine amp and the alpine works fine. so do i send it back? or is there some other way of fixing it?

Sent in my design specs to the factory today for an SA-8 driver. Will move down to a 2" coil, though, so we can fit the proper spider on the frame. Coil will be 33% longer than the E8 coil and will feature all of the SA-12 cooling features. Frame will be 12-spoke rather than 4-spoke as it works better in the 8" size. May have pics in a few weeks Motor dimensions are similar to SA-12 except for it is narrower to more easily fit into an 8" woofer cut-out. Power rating 400-500 watts RMS. As for the X8... I may start from scratch on it due to the difficulties of using a 2.5" coil on an 8" driver.
