Hello all, Here in the Raleigh, NC area I have been around to a few car audio shops to pick up little things from time to time and I notice that most do not carry any Sundown Audio equipment. To me this has been somewhat of a surprise considering the fact that the company is "local", in the sense that it is based out of the same state and is only a few hours away. The response I have gotten from guys that run these shops is almost offensive to me as a Sundown Audio user. When I ask why they don't carry any Sundown they seem to get on this defensive "high horse" stating that either "Sundown equipment is too expensive, and nobody will buy it" or that "they are just a sma…

Okay guys -- Team is full for 2010. Please do not email me about Team inquiries until 2011 -- this means not until January! Our Team is strong this year and I cannot handle the 100+ Team inquiries a week any more this year. Any Team or "sponsorship" inquiry e-mails will be deleted. Sorry for the inconvenience but my Inbox gets 100+ e-mails reading "sponsorship" every week.

Hey you guys are really imformative on these forums. So recently I installed my new system that consisted of a Fi BTl 18, SAZ 3000d, HO alternator(220amp), Kinetik 2400 in back, all 0gauge wires, big three all in a Nissan Pathfinder. And recently I would be listening to music and then the subwoofer would cut out and there would be no output. I inspected the sub and it looked fine. I switched the sub with a JL and it did the same thing. Played then cut out. I checked rcas, ground and also checked to see if the speaker wires r hooked up right. I switched out the 3000d with a Alpine amp and it worked fine. If you guys got any input or advice i should try please let me…

I'm curious to see what kind of power these guys put out. I know they're hella underrated so I'm curious what kind of power they ACTUALLY do? 200rms per channel? or closer to 150? I'd love to have 150-200 a side running some DD 6.5" LTs would get retarded loud imo, thanks, Tom

I did some testing today. I got out my craftsman DMM/clamp and played some 50Hz tones. (I have a Panasonic headunit with 2V preouts, an Excessive Amperage 250A alternator, 1 Duralast Gold size 65, 2 Kinetik HC1800's, big three with knukonceptz 1/0 gauge, etc...) This is my gain right now (red dot indicates)... I did volume 30/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone. I got 28.6 volts (AC) at the speaker terminals and 19 amps (AC) on the speaker wire, so 543.4 watts. I did volume 32/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone and got 33.2 volts and 21 amps, so 697.2 watts. I measured the resistance on my sub wires... 1.0 ohm. What's the deal? Why am I …

Alright so i get my sae 1200D and 12" fi bl installed saturday. drive around for 30 minutes and love it. stop to eat for about 45 minutes. when i come back and try to turn it on the sub makes a weird noise and the amp goes into protection mode. restart the car a couple of times and it does the same thing. take it to the place i got it installed and they rewire it and it still goes into protection and they hook up an alpine amp and the alpine works fine. so do i send it back? or is there some other way of fixing it?

Building a pair right now... on that note - I really do not plan to make any more of these until I get the spiders I'm designing for 10s as it is a bit of a pain in the butt to make these! In any event - someone talked me into making them a pair so here are a few pics :

Made for local customer -- thought it would be fun to use the Z v.3 spider on the NS v.2 -- we have about 44.5mm of motor clearance and this spider will allow you to reach it. Pretty impressive to see free air I also am experimenting with a former cap as he is running high power. The cap will enhance the effectiveness of our coil cooling setup. Once I get the dust cap glued I'll run specs -- it is still pretty fresh but I gave it a nice run free air before gluing on the former cap.

Hey guys i am going to make a template for my sub box so i can pre drill some holes on the mounting board of my box so that way i can just toss the sub in and then use the t-nuts and screw it in. I want to pre-drill due to the style of my box and it will be very tricky to drill with the sub being there. please take note of how the subs will mount and they will be mounted inverted. at any rate i am going to make a cutout out of some steel that way i can position everything before i get the subs back from re-cone and just drop them in and away i go. Now (finally) my question is what radius is the screw holes on? if the cutout is 11inch and the overall is 12.5 will the…

Threads for the NS-1 so far : NS-1 and SAE-500D Prototype Pictures - Car Audio Classifieds Amplifier Stock News (Announcement Inside) - Car Audio Classifieds ----- * 6x SA-12 for testing * NS-1 dropped in for testing with various meters * Derrick has 3x XS D3100s and 2x Mechman 300-amp alts * DC Current Clamp Derrick measured 7100-watts on MY Extech Clamp meter and captured 82v with his RMS volt-meter -- so we calculated that to be 0.95 ohms actual with rise from 0.33 nominal. Voltage dropped to 12.3 volts with 646 amps of measured draw on my DC clamp meter. We let everything cool off for a while and hit it again and saw 7200-watts as well but didn't grab all of the …

* An SAZ-4500D next to a pair of NS-1 prototypes. * NS-1 has speaker outputs on the other side. * Little SAE-500D Prototype hanging out -- this is not the final case; just have not tooled up the case I'll use yet. * SAE-500D guts -- stout little amp. * Guts of 4500D and NS-1 * Guts from the other side. * Top view of the guts. * Significantly larger output inductors on the NS-1 to handle the additional power output. * While the NS-1 has fewer transformers they are much bigger. I have not been able to locate my power clamp so no testing on either yet. I'll keep looking for it... not sure I'll be able to get to the NS-1 today or not due to the electrical requirements…

Ok, so some our Team Sundown guys got their NS-1's and clamped them on a resistor...this basically means there's no rise the resistor pack used for this test is 0.7 ohms Power supply 8 Stinger SP 2150's resting at 12.9v measured 80 volts 114 amps voltage drop 11,8v Power: 9120 watts guys said the amps is a beast in terms of low impedance stability, stayed cool the whole time the vid Effficiency 984 Amps of draw at 11,8 volts 78% efficiency at 0.7 ohms is damn good

Again... these are all sold and accounted for. Watch out for next pre-order soon. Should be much faster this time as our rectifiers are in stock now. We'll be testing them and shipping next week.
