Sundown Audio

  1. Started by nimbyfaygo,

I'm redesigning the system in my truck. I'm going to be running 12 Re Audio RE 8's. Dual 4 coils, so I can get a .5 ohm load (i think). They are 175 rms, so if I use a 1500D I should be able to give them 125 each. I've been hearing a lot of good things about sundown. I'm just curious if the 1500 will be a good choice. I'm aware that they aren't warrantying .5 loads now. But I have a 200amp alt. 3 Mercedes 1200amp batteries and a dual 1/0gauge wire run. I used to run two Orion 2500'd and the voltage would only drop down to 12.4 ish. I guess I'm being cheap, but I'd like to find a place where I can get one for less than 599$. I don't see anyplace that sells them within a…

Just swapped out my US Amps for some Sundown Audio amps. Sad to see the ol' faithful US Amps go, this was VERY hard to do. I must be a responsible sundown dealer and use the stuff that I sell. I did consider slapping a sundown sticker on the US Amp heatsinks. Old install I still have an Fi Q12 and the Sundown SAZ-1500D is my first ever class D amp. I metered at 140.5 db. Pretty damned good if you ask me for the bass eating BMW trunk. A 2.3db gain since I was metered using the sub brand new with a super stiff suspension. Measured by a termlab in the pass side kick panel. Peak freq was 47hz. The reading might be a little higher since I was inside. Electrical: Stock…

I have had 2 songs make my amp go into protect mode. The amp is cool, Subs are cool, so its not thermal, Not a speaker short, so last would be over current. So would over current mean that the gain is to high for that song, its a high note that makes it do it. So the voltage is spiking to high for the amp? its a saz 2k. I just have to turn deck off, turn back on, and all good again. Does it at high volume/full tilt but only on a couple songs

Our new FedEx rep was a good sport and got a short demo. 12x Obsidian Audio 12s 2x SAZ-4500Ds on 16v @ 1.33 ohms We forgot to have the low-tuned loading wall in -- so hair movement not as good as it could be but our rep enjoyed it !

  13. Shop will be partially closed next week. We will still respond to as many e-mails as possible and as many products as possible will go out. We will not be open for phone calls or be at 100% shipping / building capacity. Don't worry, though, after next week we'll be back to work and we'll have an extra worker at least for the summer ! Also -- bit of a hiccup this week. My accounting / book keeping computer went out over the weekend. I ordered a power supply for it next day air yesterday -- still waiting on it to arrive to start going through orders to enter and ship. Hoping it arrives before lunch so I can get some work done today!

  14. kinda gettin out of car audio at the moment, will be back as soon as the big boy 15's are out to work on a diff setup.... the amps have been used playing time about a 1.5-2 month span with a small scratch and a inset screw missing on one of the amps, which can be had very easily, two ns 12s.... one works perfectly and one is in need of a recone. also 2 9a31 dekas that were barely used and never mistreated.... will be putting up pics very soon. both amps purchased from rob eldridge and subs straight from jacob himself. will be posting this info in the for sale section tonight w/ pricing of course.... will definantly be using sundown again.... awesome products!

Our phone system is DOWN today completely while AT&T moves our number to the new facility. We've been forwarding it via the internet back to our Talkswitch box in Troutman up until now; but we are getting the whole deal officially moved today. If you must contact us please e-mail [email protected] and he can ask anyone else any questions you may have as well. I will post ASAP once the phone system move is completed. Our old number will STILL work via forwarding @ the phone company and we will also have a new "official" phone number.

Anyone trying to call me my phone IS NOT working at the shop. AT&T is taking their time fixing it... I've had no dial tone since last Tuesday afternoon. I was gone most of the time and was hoping they would fix it but hey have not... have called several times today from my cell with no results yet. Apparently I have to pay outrageous pricing for "commercial grade" service but they have all day to fix my problems.

    * Box is three layers thick on the front for amp mounting - but we are still trying to find another place to mount the amps. * Huge port! * Brandon's trophies from the show, and our lucky extra dBeez! * Damage to the roof from demoing at the show * Another view The deadener is also ripped all around the edges of the perimeter of the roof... little pieces were falling down all day!

  24. Still need to clean it up, wash it, and get all the saw dust and crap off everything so it looks better. Pretty dirty right now though. Not finished though. Going to have more highs inside the cabin when I get money (obviously), glassed doors, glassed center console, and some extra stuff on the amprack like more speakers and some logos on the black thing. Its not anywhere near "finished", but its all playing, and it looks pretty good now. As said, still need to put the line driver in and hook up my alternator. Will make a huge difference since right now the batteries sit at like 12v and the voltage drops so low that the amps shut off. Havent gotten the subs even close to …
