Sundown Audio

So I picked up a 12" nightshade a few weeks ago and today I just happened to be switching the box I had it in so I figured I would put my dmm on the coils just to see what it read. The first one came out right at 1.0, but then the second one reads 1.5. Is that normal? I let it sit for a while too, they would both go up and down by .1, but would eventually rest on the resulting numbers. Is that an issue, or is it fine?

Will the Zv3's utilize the new frames or will they keep the ones they have now?

Finally did some real testing on the KIA last night. I actually did a 149.2 sealed, but forgot to take a pic of it. This was done at 45 Hz and a little over 2600 watts clamped total for both amps. Amps are wired @ 1 ohm each rising to 3 ohms. All settings on deck were flat, and loud button off. Cone rise is killing my power and score. Need dual 2 ohm subs bad. Crazy thing is truck and box are same frequency. Also did a hard core run and the score was a 150.8. Here is a pic of the Term Lab Score.

Well I am in love with my audio setup which consists of a 1500, 100.2, fi 18" Q, and CDT special editions up front. I have only burped her a few times around 3/4 volume and have never had any issues. Today I was playing the system about 2/3 and noticed that I started having voltage drop pretty bad but before I never had any electrical issues, my guess here is that the battery is struggling now with the demand (brand new red top). I have all 0 gauge wiring up to a dist. block with 2 foot runs of 4 gauge. Ok, just bought a new car and my ported box does not fit. So I need to make a new one. I have a 2008 Civic SI coupe. What I am wondering is speaker/port placement. I am use to SUV's and sub up / port back. I have read with a trunk that sub back / port back is the way to go. Just asking to make sure before I buy the material and build this box. Also, I see that SA 12's are 1.5 to 2.0 for ported boxes. With 1.75 being on there spec sheet. I have 1250 watts to push 2 12's and was wondering. Would it be better to go 1.5 / 1.75 / or 2? i was having some issues with my electrical, and my battery died at the school yesterday. long story short i had to go get a new battery and put it in. well at the school i don't have any tools in mine or my friends car. i decided that i was sick of hearing them rattle last week so i took them out hahah. and so i could only tighten the terminals by hand. well on my drive home, so i can completely tighten them, i was having some shorts goin on with the terminals and i ended up blowing 2 of my 30 amp fuses on my amp. i was just wondering if there is any way i can test the amp myself to make sure no other damage was done? i'm about to go get some new fuses, and i will get ba…

Hello, I read everywhere people talking about birthsheets they had with their amplifier. I have had several brand new amps in my car audio life(!), but I've never received any birthsheets with them. And it was the case with my recently bought saz1000D. It's really not a problem, but I would like to understand! do you always receive your amps with those birthsheets?

ok so i'm purchasing 2 18" BTLs and really considering getting 2 of these amps.. heres my question do i get 2 Dual 2ohm BTLs and run 1 on each amp at 1ohm @ 1500 watts rms each OR do i get 2 Dual 1ohm BTLs wire them parallel on the 2 1500s strapped @ 1ohm to get the 3700 watts? how efficiant is it to strap these amps? and are there any other worth while scenarios that i should consider? I will be getting a 300amp alt and as of now i only have 1 yellow top, will i need more batteries with that big of an alternator?

I haven't been able to find a good post detailing the differences and improvements between the V1 and V1.5 SA8. If Jacob or someone else that knows could post up I'd appreciate it. Also is the motor the same on all SA8 v1/v1.5? I've seen two different basket styles. Can they be run together? I'm getting some old SA8 v1 motors and need some info. I've emailed Jacob as well, so if I get info from him I'll post it here.

I have a PDX-4.100 amp and I use the front two channels for components. I want to use the back two channels (200rms x2 bridged) for SD-1 subs. What would be the best combination of these subs for me to use to get the best bass? I can spend up to $250.

i have two 3000d every time i try and turn up vol one of the two go into protect its not always the same one . they are running 1ohm each i am also running 3 lifeline batteries 1 d3100 and 1 stinger 1700 225amp alt voltage drops to around 12.6 any help would be great i do compete would be nice to be able to keep it playin for good numbers

ok so when jacob opens up the pre-sale on these i will be ordering 6, they will be ran off of a saz-3500D at .7ohm. now i used a box calc. off of the *** forum, and got my box all figured out, its just the port thats confusing me, can someone help me out with this as to i cant figure out my actually port cut outs, the box will be in a 99 s10 ext cab, subs forward, port up (drivers side) here are the specs of the box. 6 10" Sundown sa's box height - 29 depth - 14 Length - 43 Port height - 12.5 width - 7.5 length - 24.5 net air space 6.24ft3. port area 93.75 in2. @32.33 thanks!!

I bought a set of Sundown Audio Z-15's around december, sadly i never got them hooked up and now im movin out and i need the extra cash so i gotta sell em. Heres where my problem comes in. I need to ship these subs in order to sell them because the people intrested in them are out of state, one being in Oklahoma and they want around $250.00 to ship them. The price seems ridiculous to me. Does anybody know who will ship them from residence to residence for cheap? Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Newest production run arrived a few weeks ago -- we changed the output FETs to the same parts the newest 3500Ds are using (more powerful) and made a few other small tweaks. 0.5 ohm performance is now just as good as the v.1 1500D while maintaining the slightly better 1 ohm performance that we had already achieved on the v.2 model. ok, so i have a nightshade 18 now, but i am thinking of switching to 4 SA-8s. i would have slightly less cone area (201 vs 254) but wouldn't i also have a higher amount of motor force and air displacement because of the added xmax of 4 woofers vs 1 woofer? what do you guys think? on the 1500 watts im running now, what would be the better route? im really just going for daily listening, i don't compete. there is also the wow factor of popping the hatch and saying "yea...those are 8s" but any input is appreciated. also, please don't flame for this being another vs thread, im really just trying to find the relationship between motor force and cone area.

I know a made a review thread before, but I didn't fee like bringing that back to the top. I recently just got my third amp was able to really give some power to these guys before I was only giving them ~30 watts. Amp in theory is putting about ~125 per speaker, rough guess is probably they are seeing ~110 at full tilt. Man does power bring these things to life. Crossover set at 85@24dB slope. The combination of the MS-8 really helps brings these speakers to life. They get LOUD and have no problem keeping up with my horns receiving almost the same amount of power (of course the MS8 helps with that too). They sound amazing as well, even at full tilt.
