  2. unfortunately, after re-installing my car audio I found my sundown amp going into protect. It goes into protect immediately; the power light turns on about 1-2 secs later; 5 seconds later the two relays marked with a purple X close/open(click)...; unhooked from speaker; I found manufacture damages that were covered in glue, marked in black; red. In pink there is some rubbing damage to the winding; no metal caps blown; the plastic ones which the top may have some give; each one can depress at-least a mm or so. That's all I can tell visually. I cannot smell burnt electronics; nor are any burns prevalent on top of the board. I've built small circuits and studied them a lot;…

  3. Heads up to everyone about our schedule. Most of the guys going to Slamology will be leaving on Thursday to head up there. I am leaving Friday morning. We will have a booth to show our products at Slamology; we will also be giving out signed posters with our new company model -- if you want to see you'll have to attend Slamology or wait until afterward All of the guys attending Slamology will be back to work on Tuesday *except* for me (**). Limited staff will be at the shop the entire time -- we will not fully close the shop at all but operations will be severely limited Friday and Monday around the weekend of Slamology. ** - I am actually taking a family vacation th…

  5. The Sundown 100.4 amp has been sitting in my garage for a few years now. I bought this when they were first released as I think the knobs have changed over time? I can't remember how to setup this amp on my current car. I have components up front and a sub in the trunk. How do I wire this to the amp correctly? Specifically which RCA and Speaker wires go into which terminals? Also how do I go about starting out to tune the system with this setup? I have 2 1500s coming to me and before i install them i want to make sure that my electrical will handle it right now i have a stock alternator on my bravada (blazer if you will) pushing ~110amps and 1 yellowtop optima my plan was just to replace the stock alt with a 300 amp one but seeing as these amps can be run at a higher voltage than 14.4 i was thinking of doing dual alts and running 16 volts on a 300 or 200 amp alternator (whichever is reccomended) and have a seprate battery in the back I would like to get as much power from them as possible so i will most likely strap them @ 1ohm (i know its not covered under warranty) I just need to know how big of an alternator…

Went to a Texas Bass Productions event yesterday on Sunday and placed 1st in pro trunk by a mile. Did a 149.9 on 1st run Did a 150.1 on 2nd run Did a 150.9 on 3rd run No one else even close to me in a trunk car. I believe the next highest trunk car was a 146.x Every one couldn't believe I was using only 1 subwoofer. Their was a nice Dodge Magnum there with 4 American Bass 12" Subs with some 3000d amplifier. Was talking a little noise to me about his setup, and being the humble person I am I didnt say anything. He ended up doing a 148.6 to my 150.9. He was a little puzzled but was a good sport about it and shook my hand. Everyone is asking about the amps and where to get t…

Chris over at fisher customs is designing me a box for 2 nightshade 12's to go in my mustang. The box will be 3.8 cf total (1.9 cf each sub) with 4" aeroports on the side and subs facing back into the trunk. The box will be tuned to 35hz. This will be used for daily driving using two 1500's. I have seen on other threads where others using the nightshade 12's are using boxes with sizes around 1.5 cf for each sub or just slightly larger. Should I get Chris to trim down the size of the box to get closer to the 1.5 cf per sub? Or, is the 1.9cf more in line for that sub on daily driving? Thanks for the help.

Hey, just wanted Team Sundown to know that The crowd at the XSPL Show with Drop Jaw Magazine in Kinston N.C. was off the hook! There were so many women, ooops I mean people that it really made it for a great time! I gave so many demos, I thought I was DJ just for a minute. I took home a 2nd place trophy for sealed on the dash or kick (160.1) and a 2nd place for Hardcore in the port (167.3) on the AC Meter. I also set new records for SUV 2000+ watts (sealed up and hardcore). Jacob, the new subs are louder! If I could ever figure out that Maxxlink.....

I know sundown recommends a fuse 8 inches before their amp.. I was told once before 150A is just fine... Im running the knukonceptz 1/0 KLMX cable (250a).. I started talkin about this to some other people off the internet and they keep tryin to tell me its way too much lol.. i think their full of it cause they also tell me 1/0 is overkill for any system lol. just want some clarification on this, thank you. Amp will be mounted maybe 1.5 ft from back battery and wired directly to it with a fuse.

I decided to redo the gain setting on my saz3000 without using bass boost. Sub is audiopulse axis I started to set it using a DMM on ac volts along with an ac clamp meter first run gain was at min and i got 31.7 volts and 12.89 amps = 408 watts?? second run higher gain-- 79.8 V, 24 A = 1915 watts another higher gain-- 83.4 V, 25.3 A = 2110 watts another higher gain-- 84.8 V, 26 A = 2204 watts after that run the amp shut off. I checked how much more gain i had and i was amost max. so i turned off the amp, tried it again and i could see/hear clipping so i got confused 2204 watts and clipping, I got my WT3 woofer tester and did an impedence curve. My clamp meter has an AC …

Hey everyone, newbie member here. I was told to look into Sundown subwoofers by people that actually know what they're talking about in car audio - they said these things are good stuff. Value priced and high quality, and from what I hear the manufacturer is a real solid guy. My question is, how loud and clear are these things? I need some low end for the Polk Momo system I have in my Buick LeSabre, and after shopping around speaker brands I decided this was the way to go. But I don't want anything obnoxious, and I don't want anything that is going to require a huge box and big, conspicious amp. My big thing is keeping a clean, stock(ish) look with this system. That …

I just bought a sae-1000d and i will be hooking it up to 2 kicker DVC L5's. I really have no idea how to hook DVC subs to this amp. I know that the 1000d has two speaker outs, and didn't know if that would make this install easier or not. So, basically I am just wondering what the most productive way of hooking this up would be. Thanks!

  19. Hello, I have just purchase a SAZ1000D but I wonder if this amp really accept 0 gauge power wire? I have 0 ga from the battery to a distribution block in the trunk, then 4 ga to my 2 amps. Is it good enough for the Sundown I'm waiting for? Or do I have to change the distribution block to power the new amp with o ga wire? Btw, how long should I wait for the tracking number, pleaaaaaase?!!!! Thanks

Two quick questions that are really easy but i can't seem to find. Is the remote that comes with a SAZ-3000d for bass-boost or gain? I think it's for gain but i want to be sure before anything bad happens. Also, i have read what to set the Subsonic filter too, but what about the Low pass? Is it just a "whatever sounds better to you" thing? Or will setting it too high hurt my Sub? thanks!
