Sundown Audio

  1. First off, this doesn't seem very mono block to me (tis a two channel amp), but anyway... Could someone explain to me how you would wire up a single SVC sub? The diagram on page 5 shows bringing a line to both power outputs on the speaker positive connections, and no line to the negatives at all. This doesn't make any sense to me. Do you link the two negatives together, and run one positive to the speaker's positive, and the other positive to the speaker's negative?

Well, my friend said he wants more boom for his stock ass Mini. Man the thing has a horrid stock stereo, and it's too complicated to get an aftermarket stereo. He wanted an 8" sub, or a 10", so I showed him the SA-8. Should I build a box with .65cuft after dicplacement at 32hz? He listens to variety of different genres. I plan on running an in-line-converter to the amp later on. Thanks!

  3. unfortunately, after re-installing my car audio I found my sundown amp going into protect. It goes into protect immediately; the power light turns on about 1-2 secs later; 5 seconds later the two relays marked with a purple X close/open(click)...; unhooked from speaker; I found manufacture damages that were covered in glue, marked in black; red. In pink there is some rubbing damage to the winding; no metal caps blown; the plastic ones which the top may have some give; each one can depress at-least a mm or so. That's all I can tell visually. I cannot smell burnt electronics; nor are any burns prevalent on top of the board. I've built small circuits and studied them a lot;…

I just bought a sae-1000d and i will be hooking it up to 2 kicker DVC L5's. I really have no idea how to hook DVC subs to this amp. I know that the 1000d has two speaker outs, and didn't know if that would make this install easier or not. So, basically I am just wondering what the most productive way of hooking this up would be. Thanks!

  5. Hello, I have just purchase a SAZ1000D but I wonder if this amp really accept 0 gauge power wire? I have 0 ga from the battery to a distribution block in the trunk, then 4 ga to my 2 amps. Is it good enough for the Sundown I'm waiting for? Or do I have to change the distribution block to power the new amp with o ga wire? Btw, how long should I wait for the tracking number, pleaaaaaase?!!!! Thanks

Hey everyone, newbie member here. I was told to look into Sundown subwoofers by people that actually know what they're talking about in car audio - they said these things are good stuff. Value priced and high quality, and from what I hear the manufacturer is a real solid guy. My question is, how loud and clear are these things? I need some low end for the Polk Momo system I have in my Buick LeSabre, and after shopping around speaker brands I decided this was the way to go. But I don't want anything obnoxious, and I don't want anything that is going to require a huge box and big, conspicious amp. My big thing is keeping a clean, stock(ish) look with this system. That …

I have an SAX50.4 bridged to a dual 4ohm sub. Tuesday at the end of my 3 hour commute the amp shut off. I thought I fried the speaker but 10 min after the amp shut off, it worked again. I had already stopped when I turned the stereo on again and the amp was hot to the touch. This is the same thing that happened with another small amp that I had but it was 2 channel bridged. Except it shut off after about 30-45 min. I have an SAX125.2 running two 6x9s right next to the 50.4 and it hasnt ever shut off since Ive had it. Doesnt get hot either. They are both screwed to a seperate piece of 3/4 mdf behind the back seat agaisnt the side of the box. Ive also had 2 other amps in t…

Ive been planning and install for over 2 years swapping out different components and subs and wiring and batteries and even cars. But I finally landed a good job and was making money I decided it was time to treat my self. Back when Jacob started SA, I was excited to get the new amps and was even going to test .5 ohm, yeah that long ago, is when i really started to plan this system, well a couple weeks ago I finally got it installed by Aaron over at Innovative rides. It was a quick weekend install and I just wanted the major work done. I still have to fix the dash and finish the rear deck, but I wanted to post how happy I was that it was done and how much I have enjoyed t…

So an interesting project came my way... a client asked me to try out some of the NeoPro speakers for Guitar purposes... which I have had a few folks try them for bass guitar and like them but not regular electric guitar. Client comes back to me stating the NeoPro drivers are entirely too clean and then lends me an old vintage speaker that he considers the "driver to have" for this application -- which is tube amplifier electric guitar. So I analyzed it a bit... and came up with this : * Ribbed, thin paper cone with very small dust cap * Actual paper surround - one piece with the cone * Low excursion spider with completely un-vented frame * Un-vented motor Many of the…

  16. Currently I have plans for a box with these specs: Net Volume: 2.5 Tuning Freq: 32 Port L: 34.5 Port H: 16.5 Port W: 2.5 Port area 41 inches Port area/cubic foot 15.88 It's a sundown X12 dual 2 ohm paired with my SAZ-2000D. It's going a 2000 F150 with the sub and port firing upwards. I plan for a double baffle. Will I have enough port area and does that seem like a decent box? Here's the plans and pictures: http://imgur.com/a/9zqJN I'm planning a H/O alternator most likely mechman 240A or 270A. Does this look okay?

Well I have most of my system in right now. Had to send my planar mid ranges back to good ol Parts Express so slapped together two little boxes with some quart 3 1/2's to play the mids in my system. Also blew my Fosgate 500a2 and swapped in an Orion 900.2 my boy was going to use (I bought him a refurbed SAE1000d from Db-r) So its been some ups and downs. I am running a Sundown SAZ1500D on a TC Sounds TC3000 15 DVC in a 3 1/2 cubic foot box @ 40 hertz. Here is the amp rack as I got it fitted in my car. Just for the record, am running a full active system with 8's in the door, my missing planar midranges and planar tweeters. Hope to do Sundown justice.
