Sundown Audio

Sorry guys - backed up again. I am going to let everyone in on why that is : 1) My e-mail volume in 2009 *so far* is two times higher than what I got in 2008 all year long. 2) I have been in the process of buying a new home for several weeks now, this takes up alot of time. 3) As many of you know I have a son - he is now 8 months old - so I can't do much e-mail at home these days. 4) Flu season came through... I got sick after MECA finals, that took me out of work completely for a day and slowed me down for a few more. 5) We are busier than ever - and I do alot of other things besides e-mails. Lots of new things in development... uses up alot of my attention and time. All…

T'm trying to find the right amp for these im stuck between the 125.2 and the 100.4. can i run those passive? ive never set a front stage up so ive been trying to find the differences between passive and active, can anyone explain or give me a link to read on this? i only have a minor understanding but want to learn! i looked on the 12volt but couldnt find anything, maybe i just cant find the right stuff i want? i would prefer the easier setup because of my inexperience, so im thinking passive on a 125.2, would that work and sound good? the porblems i can think of for active is if i got the 100.4 would that give too much to the tweeters, or would i be able to tune it d…

Exceptional customer service! I bought 2 Sa-12's locally but forgot to take my DMM with me so kinda took a risk buying them.. One came out to be dual 4 ohm which the guy "didn't know about".. Ohh well. My friend ordered a recone for me but put no adress and left out some necessary info. I get an email from Debbie at Sundown notifying me about it and asking me the info that was left out. Before my friend ordered it I asked Jacob questions on pricing and how about to order the recone.. Didn't take much for him to get back to me. For the amount of emails he receives and work he has to do to get things taken care of, I am impressed I love their CS and products. Will definat…

First time posting here, but have been reading up on Sundown for the past few months and have like everything I've read so far. So a month ago I purchased two brand new SAZ-3000Ds and they are strapped together to make a 6000W monster. Well I was trying to do some no load gain settings like I have done in the past on other amplifiers. I have three Powermaster D3100 batteries with 1/0AWG cable between each as well as 1/0AWG cable for Pos and Neg to each amplifier. Also I have double runs of 8AWG between each amp as well. I set all controls for both amps to zero connected my sub out RCA from my HU to the master amp and the BR out to the BR in of the slave amp. I place…

Ran a box design through WinISD and wanted some input. This is for 4 E8 8inch subs. It is a three chambered enclosure, each outside enclosure is 1 cubic foot tuned to 70 hertz. The inside enclosure is 2 cubic feet and is tuned to 40 hertz. The woofers will be mounted magnet end in the 1 cubic foot side two woofers per the 1 cubic foot side firing into the 2 cubic foot portion. This is for my kid who listens to mostly rap. Powering this will be a SAE1000d. A subsonic filter will be used to keep over excursion down. The graph on WinISD looks impressive in an open air environment. Any reason to not utilise this box design?

  12. Hello, I have just purchase a SAZ1000D but I wonder if this amp really accept 0 gauge power wire? I have 0 ga from the battery to a distribution block in the trunk, then 4 ga to my 2 amps. Is it good enough for the Sundown I'm waiting for? Or do I have to change the distribution block to power the new amp with o ga wire? Btw, how long should I wait for the tracking number, pleaaaaaase?!!!! Thanks

would there be any way to make a completelly wireless amp? something like a Bluetooth setup so people can get away from tearing their vehicles apart to wire their doors and what not. it's easy to power up an amp, but a pain in the ass to wire up the doors and the rest of it. i would love to see an amp that only needs the power and ground and instead of a remote wire or RCA's the amp turns on via Bluetooth signal sent from the headunit and sends signal to the speakers via Bluetooth. could you imagine how great that technology would be? i think it's an awesome idea. i think the amp would have to be on each speaker though and someting like a Bluetooth router would have to be…

  15. i am gettin alot of question lately about this, and it seems to put off alot of people that ask for a passive set up front and a 2 ohm subwoofer. and they been asking me if i can check for the SAX100.4 for 2 ohm bridged ability. can anyone test this? i only tried for a few mins on a low power subwoofer , without any special faults. no excessive heat, no protection, no audible distortion, i was wondering if anyone could bench the 100.4 @ 2 ohm bridge usability. it could be great to find out that it can do this:) thanks Eli.

Just pre-ordered an SA-8 to play around with...can't wait to receive it! Gives me time to build the box. From what it looks like, something like a .75-1 cu. ft. ported around 34 or 35Hz should be a good starting point for good sound/efficiency right? Planning on running about 450-500 watts to it.

It passed our brutal 5 minute 60 Hz thermal test at ~2000-watts clamped power (it floats around this number... as we have to adjust the rig as coil heats to try and keep power as close to 2kw as possible). We even put the coils on a DMM at the end of the video. So... without a doubt the NS v.2 will take MUCH more than it's rated power on music thermally having passed this 60 hz torture test where limited coil movement severely limits coil cooling.

Hi, I just ordered a 50x4 and will be using this to drive my mids and tweets separately. It looks like to me the best way to do this is: - connect mids to 1/2, tweets to 3/4 - for channels 1/2, set it to HPF @3000 or similar - for channels 34, set it to LPF @3000 Then, for 1/2, set the subsonic filter the the crossover point with my sub. Is this a legit use of the subsonic filter? What is the x-over slope on the subsonic? My other amp is a 125.2 bridged driving a soundsplinter rli-8. Cheers!

so i was thinking of 2 saz-3000d as well as the 100.4... this is for daily ... if i have it strapped for 1 ohm (each amp at .5 ohm) and i tune it with an oscilloscope is this still a bad idea? ... wouldnt the nominal resisitance rise up to over 1 ohm anyway so it would be safe? ... what do you recommend as far as total aH (jake i forgot what you said lol) and how many strands of 1/0 will suffice to the rear (approx 15 ft from front to back battery bank)?

First of all, hello my name is Matt, and after a bit of reading and so much awesome feedback on sundown audio amps, I want to try them out in my next build. I ask a lot of questions, but seem to answer a lot as well. Anyway, my question is this... how much power do these amps pull from the electrical system of a vehicle when under ~full load (1 ohm for 3000d, and others bridged) Just trying to figure out exactly what kind of electrical upgrades will be necessary. Thanks in advance, Matt
