I have 2 sa 12s in a ported box and I've been thinking of trying to build a 4th order or just buying some sa 15s and building a ported box for them. So my question is could the 12s be louder in a 4th order than the 15s in a ported box tuned to say 30hz? They would both be ran on a saz1500 and space isn't an issue for either and they would be ran in the same vehicle

I did some testing today. I got out my craftsman DMM/clamp and played some 50Hz tones. (I have a Panasonic headunit with 2V preouts, an Excessive Amperage 250A alternator, 1 Duralast Gold size 65, 2 Kinetik HC1800's, big three with knukonceptz 1/0 gauge, etc...) This is my gain right now (red dot indicates)... I did volume 30/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone. I got 28.6 volts (AC) at the speaker terminals and 19 amps (AC) on the speaker wire, so 543.4 watts. I did volume 32/40 and sub at 0 on the headunit playing a 50Hz tone and got 33.2 volts and 21 amps, so 697.2 watts. I measured the resistance on my sub wires... 1.0 ohm. What's the deal? Why am I …

Took some pics of the process -- thanks to Brandon for helping me get it done in a timely fashion. * Basic shell complete. We are using mostly cabinet grade Oak plywood (3/4") with some 7/8" ply as well (bottom panel and one layer of top baffle). * I like to use lots of screws... 2" long models. * Temporary guide setup to build the port straight * Outline walls of the port... ready for flexible ply. * Flexible ply installed to make the flare. * Coming together ! * Filling in across the flare with strips of wood. * Wood filler in the gaps. * Fiberglass cloth and resin applied. * Top baffles going on. * Hole cut with counter-sink * In the Jeep ! --- I installed…

Still need to clean it up, wash it, and get all the saw dust and crap off everything so it looks better. Pretty dirty right now though. Not finished though. Going to have more highs inside the cabin when I get money (obviously), glassed doors, glassed center console, and some extra stuff on the amprack like more speakers and some logos on the black thing. Its not anywhere near "finished", but its all playing, and it looks pretty good now. As said, still need to put the line driver in and hook up my alternator. Will make a huge difference since right now the batteries sit at like 12v and the voltage drops so low that the amps shut off. Havent gotten the subs even close to …

Sundown will be CLOSED June 20 - 24th 2008. My brother is getting married and I'll be in Florida. I'll have my lap-top so I'll get to as many e-mails and forum posts as I can... but nothing will ship during that time.

We've shown a few pictures of the new frame... this is the first peek at the newly tooled and designed spider. I designed this spider based on all the information gathered during testing of the v.1 model -- this is our own spider design / tool where the other two spider versions from the v.1 were simply the best readily available roll profiles. IMO... this roll is FAR superior and should show in testing -- which will likely be coming on Friday. One thing that should be noticed quickly is the massive reduction in mechanical noises from the new spider -- MUCH quieter all the way up until we run out of frame clearance; which I do in the video when you hear the tick sound. Th…

Hi, I am debating on which of these two setups to use, im going for either 1 10 or 2 8 and its down to the x10 vs 2 sa8-v2. Both setups would be with 1000w rms. The two sa-8 v2 would be on 1.2 cf net enclosure tuned to 35hz and the x10 would be on the recomended enclosure. I am looking for an overall good and loud set up that works for all types of music, From Salsa to Hip Hop. Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance

I just had my first time on the meter today at Slamology and I didn't do too bad, a 140.5db. The enclosure is 5cu net (to oversized for big power) tuned to 33hz (obviously not spl oriented) ran off a Sundown SAZ-1500D@ 1ohm. For a system that is made to get low and have moderate volume ability, it exceeds expectations. I did lots of demos and impressed the hell out of people that gave "just 8's" a chance SUNDWON AUDIO FTMFW!!!! BTW- the vehicle is an 07 Ford Escape and I believe that there is more in this current setup

Just got my first pictures of the first completed prototype of the new SAZ-1500D v.3 model... so the cat is out of the bag on this one! As the model that got us started it is only appropriate that it is the first model to be shown in the 2012 trim! Newly tooled 2012 casing -- you can still tell it IS a Sundown amp but it is a refresher and also narrower. The FETs are mounted at a 45 degree angle to shrink the width AND avoid spring clips (which I've never liked). So we are getting the best of both worlds on that. * Fully custom tooled boards for all of our new 2012 models complete with fans. More photos to come as I get the other models done! Yes... you do see 16 power s…

Hello, can i get opinion if this set up will work. I'll be running pair of the E-12D4 at 1ohm on BRZ 1700.1D. I know the BRZ will not output 1700 @ 1ohm probably close to 1300@1ohm. I am also trying to find how big of a magnet these E series 12" subs are. Thank you for posting

155.1 dB - woohoo This was with a "Monster" prototype woofer -- not a production speaker. Interestingly... with all my tweaks to the Z v.2 prototype it was doing the same numbers per watt up to 2500 watts (I stopped measuring with the Monster at that point). So... I may be able to match this with a full production trim Z v.2 driver. Previous best was 154.9 with an 18v electrical system and two SAZ-3000Ds on the sub... this time I am on 12v but with two SAZ-4500Ds (power is similar). Some more pics of the setup : I haven't played with front to back box positioning since I built the new amp rack (yah, slacking... I know) -- but I'll work on that a bit when I get time a…

I've been thinking of wiring my subs lower (see sig) to .25 ohms. Their dual 1s so it should be .25 correct, tried looking for a pic can't find. ( if you have one please post a link). My rise with the amp off is like 1.4 I believe, and close to 2 ohms when playing. Any ideas? Thanx

These are due in about 4-5 weeks from today. Neo-Pro 8 - 100 watts RMS / 8 ohms * Neo-Pro 10 - 200 watts RMS / 8 ohms * * Assuming proper crossover frequency for your application; typically 80 Hz or so but perhaps higher or lower depending on the power and size of door. Frequency response is good to ~5000 Hz on these -- they are a high Qts design for IB door installations in a car audio environment. Well, I asked around over on CA, & EVERYONE told me that these beasts could handle it. (w/ proper electrical, of course) Planned elec. as of now: (2) D3100s in back, 240A alt, stock bat. up front, "Big 3", 1/0 all the way around. So what is your opinions on this? Can it handle it? Also, I read that the new SAZ-1500Ds don't carry .5Ω warranty coverage. What about the 3000Ds? And if the amp some how does fail do to this, what would it cost to get it repaired/replacement? (estimate) BTW, these will be powering (2) HDC315 alum. models.
