These should ship out from our Factory on February 15th -- so we should have them around March 15th. They will be available in 4 ohm and 8 ohm configurations. Original discussion was here : -- PLEASE read this before asking any questions in case it's been answered. I will put up mounting data shortly. *Updated* I sent my last set home with Sean so I had him measure them real quick. Depth : 3" Cut-Out : 5 11/16" These are designed as car audio midrange AND midbass drivers -- they sound a bit different from most of the "PA" style drivers on the market as they were designed to produce mid-bass in a car door. REGULAR PRICE - $99 EACH Pre-Order Price - $85 each for 1-3 pcs P… -

I'm working on alot of stuff right now... I am not 100% sure how much will make it to the market by the end of this year but lets cover what is currently in the pipe-line : 1) Nightshade v.3 -- Already discussed on the forums a bit. This will be 15s and 18s only for a while -- maybe a few 12s for burp apps but NO TENS. 2) New Sundown baskets in 10/12/15 sizes. I can't show off the renderings yet until my ornamental patent application is in... but think at LEAST as much clearance as the "Eclipse" baskets AND even stronger. 18s will definitely not make it for 2012... but are on the road-map for 2013. This will allow me to make the NS v.3 in 12s for music applications. These… -

				* 2 3/16" mounting depth - 2.1875" * Compact neo cup motor * Shallow paper cone with inverted rubber surround * Very compact basket ----- This driver has a full 8mm one-way linear excursion in a 2 3/16" deep package. Still in prototype phase... may add even more extensive shorting rings to the motor for production, pending listening tests in a vehicle. Not a fancy "looking" driver - all business in the shallowest package possible. Un-matched for linear excursion in this depth as far as I am aware. Oh yah - no ETA here guys, still in testing phases - and no, I don't have any prototypes to sell and I am not sending this one around -

Little project I've been working on for a while... first prototype rolled out yesterday. It about 4 1/8" deep -- power handling and other specs will be announced once we finalize the coil (several variations will be tested). Every part was custom tooled; frame, diaphragm, dust cap, spider, surround, etc, etc. It also features an aluminum pole cap to lower distortion even further. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available =) -

The current model Nightshade is officially discontinued. We used the last brand new motor in stock today. This is how the Sundown Audio line will look soon : Z series v.2 = 1500-watt RMS model * ETA is 6-8 weeks Nightshade v.2 = 2000-watt RMS model * ETA is mid 2010 (maybe sooner) Both of these new drivers will feature several new technological advancements compared to the Nightshade v.1 to improve power handling and output per watt (efficiency). We will also be offering a spider option with double up tinsel leads for folks that like to run amps at 1/2 ohm daily. I won't release a whole bunch of details just yet. I will let the testing speak for itself when they are avail… -

http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/sundown-audio/166968-sundown-new-platform-spl-parts-production-started.html Originally posted back in March on CACO when I started testing. A better name for the new surround is "Standard Roll" as it certainly isn't just for SPL -- we'll likely start calling it that instead to avoid confusion Either way -- they are now fully in stock and can be ordered on new X, Z v.4, NS v.3, and TEAM drivers and also on re-cones for any of these drivers (TEAM already uses it's own spider; so those aren't compatible with the TEAM). -------------------- Hey guys, Some of you may remember -- or you may not remember -- that I have been plannin… -

This part is a spacer / shorting ring / heat-sink for the Z v.2 model. These are made right down the street from us here in Troutman, NC at a family owned machine shop. Great guys down there... they also did our aluminum Nightshade v.1 pole plugs. Just got these in... testing so far has not included them but they will be standard on production models. A few pictures : Should I powder coat them or leave them raw aluminum color ? -

I have a replacement candidate for the SAE-1000D... same build house as the upcoming SAE-1200D model. I would call this the SAE-800D model. Here is the question... how many people buy the SAE-1000D for the small form factor? The current SAE-800D prototype is the same size as the SAE-1200D (as big as the SAZ-1500D). It would cost less than the current SAE-1000D but is substantially bigger - it's just not as compact of a PCB design. The benefit is that it has an even beefier design so all the components are even less taxed than the already super reliable SAE-1000D. The new build house doesn't like the idea of making a small form factor amp - it is not something they are use… -

Putting a Sundown system in our 2009 Tundra DC shop truck and debating on NeoPro 6.5's or the new SA 6.5cs in the front doors. Either set will be sealed and running off a SAX-100.4 at 4ohms backed up with a pair of SD 10v3's on a 1500.1 running 1ohm. looking for SQ over SPL in this build so any and all input would be helpful. Currenlty have a set of SD 6.5's in the door now and was thinking of using the x-overs from them to run the NeoPros but can build a custom x-over if needed. Thanks, -

From the other night -- left number is dash and right number is kick panel. It's our new SPL project... so far we haven't officially stated what is in it so if you know (shhhhhhhhh) -- but we'll have it at a show soon then, of course, have all the info out there! It's mainly a burp vehicle and the absolute peak is 60 Hz but we have done pretty good numbers in the 40s range as well -- haven't really played lower than that as of yet. We did have it up to a 165.4 as well with a few tweaks. -

So as some of you may know, for some reason some force doesn't want me to get my system together and up and running. My thread explaining previous issues Well i also had problems with my refurbished saz-3000d from db-r which i also started my own thread. Sundown problems SO the sundown came back in the mail today as planned and needless to say, i was very excited. Finally my system was going to be up and running!! I mean, what else could go wrong??? Well, as it currently seems the sundown was not probably repaired. Here's what happened: I hooked up the amp probably as the manual indicated. I set the subsonic to about ~25 hz range. gain was zero. Bast boost was zero. sub… -

Production started this week. Typical lead-time is 90 days but I will say to be safe expect them at the end of August. I am going to go ahead and open up ordering since I know many of you have waited anxiously for the 2012 models to start rolling out. As with any pre-order delivery times are an ETA (estimated time of arrival) and are not a guarantee of the delivery date. I do feel pretty solid on this one as the new amp factory is working pretty quickly for us so far on the NS-1 models, though. SAZ-1500D v.3 : Pre-Order Price : $445.00 Regular Price : $525.00 SAX-125.4 : Pre-Order Price : $425.00 Regular Price : $500.00 Pricing is shipped in continental 48 states. Contact… -

First off, I hooked up the power wire and ground wrong. Power wire in the ground slot, ground in power slot (yeah i fail hardcore). I had the speakers wires hooked up and the RCAs, and remote wire. Not sure if this caused the problem, but definitely a good possiblity i believe There's a hiss coming from my speakers when i have the volume all the way down, and i can faintly hear distortion when the speakers are playing. I regrounded the HU (a 9887), checked the ground on the amp, they're fine. I switched RCAs and the hiss/distortion was still there. I had some cheap RCAs that have a 1/8" jack on the other side, so i took those and hooked them up and hooked my Ipod dire… -

Creating a new and separate thread to clear the clutter. We still have a fair amount available ! ---------- Paypal me at [email protected] to order or talk to your favorite dealer. ---------- SAX-50.4 -- $200 shipped in continental 48 states I will still include a 2-year warranty on these. Most customers shopping for an amp at this power level are more concerned about $ to watt and less about crossover flexibility. So we are closing out the 50.4 and will be developing a less expensive model to replace it without as much crossover flexibility to offer more watts per dollar. Make no mistake... the 50.4 is deceptively powerful as it produces over 60 watts per channel… -

Had a customer send in a pair of BTL 15s for me to re-build -- first time seeing the new UFO style BTLs in person. Very large and heavy motor on these guys -- also looks like they started using four separate magnets on these rather than a single large slug; presumably to prevent potential defects in the big slug. In any event -- on to the to re-build... the original failure was a burnt up tinsel lead on one of the drivers... so I am using our double lead Z v.2 spiders on the re-builds. * Original Failure Point * I am using a Z v.3 coil -- it is similar in dimension to the BTL stock coil but it is 8-layers vs. 4-layers on the BTL coil... it is 60mm WW vs. 64mm … -
