I decided to redo the gain setting on my saz3000 without using bass boost. Sub is audiopulse axis I started to set it using a DMM on ac volts along with an ac clamp meter first run gain was at min and i got 31.7 volts and 12.89 amps = 408 watts?? second run higher gain-- 79.8 V, 24 A = 1915 watts another higher gain-- 83.4 V, 25.3 A = 2110 watts another higher gain-- 84.8 V, 26 A = 2204 watts after that run the amp shut off. I checked how much more gain i had and i was amost max. so i turned off the amp, tried it again and i could see/hear clipping so i got confused 2204 watts and clipping, I got my WT3 woofer tester and did an impedence curve. My clamp meter has an AC …

The-Scraper and I have been testing our azzes off this week. We got our hands on a Sundown SAZ3000D and tested it on the same setup as the Stetsom and Cyclops. This was not a power test or comparative test, but just to see how well it would do for a 3000watt amp. 3 x battcap 8400, 4 x dd9910's, 1 x sundown SAZ3000D @0.25ohm Results: db = 154.7; voltage drop 11.8. 1 x battcap 8400, 4 x dd9910's, 1 x sundown SAZ 3000D 0.25ohm results: db = 154.1; voltage drop 10.8 As far as 3000 watt amps goes I think it did very well. We did not do a power output. Will do that later on the NSB-g3100! We predict that it will do about the same on the NSB-g3100 as it did on a single batcap 8…

Okay so I got my build done about 5-6 months ago and wired it up and have been running it at .4-.5 ohms with no issues. All of the sudden last Friday it just cut off, no smoke no obvious burn marks. Just went into protect and would not come back out. I know that running it this low can cause issues and so I just went ahead and sent it off to db-r and they think i fried the drive board or the input. My question is can anyone think of what may have caused this. Is it just because i was running it at the .4-.5 ohm load, or can it be something else that i can fix and prevent this from happening again. My electrical is as followed. Big 3 in 2/0 2 250 amp Mechman alts 2 runs…

  5. Hi! I am from Norway and i am a newbie to this forum, i have ordred a SAZ3500D and this is going to replace a Phoenix Gold RSD1200.1 and will be pushing four 10" Phoenix Gold RSDc dual 4ohm. These 4 subs is giving a total of 2ohm so the Phoenix Gold is pushing max and give out approx 1400w. I bought the SAZ3500D to get some more power and some more headroom, i was hoping for about 2500W@2ohm +\- giving the subs about their rated RMS 600W each. I have a 200A alternator, the big 3 done with 0\1Gauge and 2 Maxxima 900 bluetop batteries. Is it possible to get up to 2500Watt or will the difference to my Phoenix Gold amp not be as big as i am hoping for? Thanx Bjornar

Thanks for taking the time to read this and give advice! Currently I have 2 SA-12D4's in my car, each ran by a separate MTX 1501d amp. Each sub should be getting about 750 watts at 2 ohms, and is in a 1.75 ^ft ish ported box each (or atleast close). I started with the pair of subs and 1 amp before before adding on the second amp. Here is my issue. These amps can handle 1 ohm loads and is currently seeing 2; thus the subs are not getting the power they deserve. I am torn between 2 thoughts I'm hoping you can help me out with. Should I replace my 2 current sa-12d4's with the 2 ohm models and really push them, or would I be better off buying 2 more 4 ohm models and addin…

My SAZ-1500D's have been just sitting waiting for my subs to come so I haven't really looked them over but I installed my SAX-100.2 today for some temporary bass. I noticed you used screw terminals. Any reason for this? Any hookup where I could get allen terminals? Screw terminals just seem cheap to me and nice allen ones look clean. Nitpicking.

  9. So while my car was in the shop for near a month I made a new enclosure. I also made a big math error on the width. Meh we are all human, so instead of just junking it, I decided to recycle it and make a newer box with a 6" aero port. Here is what the box started out as. And here are some of the steps in recycling it to a new enclosure. And here it is prior to being loaded in the car. And here it is in the hatch. The low bass response is much greater with this box. Here is a quick video I did in the driveway, I may do more just gotta find a spot where I don't piss off all the neighbors.

I have a PDX-4.100 amp and I use the front two channels for components. I want to use the back two channels (200rms x2 bridged) for SD-1 subs. What would be the best combination of these subs for me to use to get the best bass? I can spend up to $250.

Well, got to hear my first set of SD-1 10's yesterday. Let me be the 1st to say that when I initially saw them, I was a sceptic and was wondering what the hell Jacob was thinking. But, I still wanted to give them a listen and see what they're all about. To my surprise, I was shocked and amazed by those little subs. I expected them to sound good, but what I didn't expect was the amount of output that a pair of $100 10's on 300 watts would have. I was amazed. With no real tuning time, just sticking the woofers in the box, hooking them up to the rear channels of a 100.4, and letting them rip. Needless to say I was impressed. Impressed enough that I picked up a pair of…

Pre-Orders for the SD-1 v.2 are open now. I expect to have them before the end of the year. The pre-order will go on until December 14th (extended from the 7th). DESCRIPTION: These subs will throw down in very small enclosures and will now handle much more power than the original SD-1. Ideal for shallow truck enclosures! They utilize a single 6" diameter magnet slug to achieve the necessary flux. Behind the cone you will find a progressive roll spider and a special treatment applied to the back of surround and upper lip of the cone to get more stability from the surround and to bring the Mms to where it needed to be. The leads are offset out to the sides and slightly rais…

The SD-1 v.2 protos are in... they take everything the SD-1 was good at and take it up a notch. 1) They are even shallower at only 4.5" mounting depth (10" model). 2) They have more linear x-max. 3) They have a 2.5" voice coil so they will handle twice as much power thermally. 4) They maintain the efficiency of the original SD-1. 5) They maintain the small box requirements of the original SD-1. 6) They maintain the low-end performance of the original SD-1. 7) They are now DVC 4 ohm for more wiring options. 8) They now have a rubber mounting gasket. These subs will throw down in very small enclosures and will now handle much more power. Ideal for shallow truck enclosures! …

So what caught my attention with this sub is the price. I'm not really limited on space but I assume this is just as good as any woofer but a shallower mount. I have two questions about it though. 1. What is the suggested rms ratting for this sub? Is it 500rms like in the name? Or is that like max/peak rms? 2. Also, what would be a very general ported box size for this sub? I'm guessing around 2 cubes tuned to 32hz or something? Thanks!

Some production shots from the factory before they were loaded up : ---------- SD-2 10" ---------- SD-2 12" ---------- You will note these have 16 vent holes in the frame vs. 12 on the prototypes and the surround is stitched on -- the surround material is also an upgraded material. Otherwise the cone / spider / frame are equal to the SA line. The motor and coil shrank down a bit -- so you can think of the SD-2 like a "mini-SA" line.

which would be better suited to a 4th order BP install? mainly looking for input from sundownz since he owns both companies and can give their honest opinion. or if someone on here has used both (which I doubt since the SD-2 are still in pre-order). they can be had for about the same price and I was curious.. Thanks!

Ok I am runnign the single SD1v2 sealed in my MINI and it sounds great! I also have 4 more and was thinking about running them ported off of a 1000d or a 1200d in my wifes car or my 4runner. Any suggestions for a ported enclosure for 4 of them? I have 2 4" areo's to use, how much airspace for the set? Thanks all! David

In addition to recieving my 1200d yesterday I also recieved one of the pairs of SD1v2's (10's) I bought on line. The boxes that they were shipped in were the original boxes from Sundown. When I got the boxes I kinda cringed because they were soft like pillows but not so fluffy.... (yes they were beat that bad...) well I opened up the boxes and the subs are fine! way to go Sundown for making such a strong little sub! I have seen subs bent and broken in boxes that looked better than these many times but these little guys did great! Now I am trying to figure out how to get 4 of these in my MINI with a 1200d!
