The 1500D being $599 and the 1000D being only $399 means the 1000D costs less per watt. So why would someone get the 1500 over the 1000?

Was in the boys car driving with him tunes were medium loudness. We were able to talk over them. Suddenly speakers sounded funny and shut off. By speakers I mean subs. We get back home and amp fuses blown. We replace fuses subs come back on, sound even funnier and then pop. Fuses gone. Allow me to add, after the first pop of fuses, we checked all cables and wires. No shorts. Started checking subs and every one of them showing open. Not dead short. open as in there is no circuit from positive to negative. How do four subs all do the exact same thing at the same time. I am befuddled. I mean, what are the odds? Oh yeah, 4 sundown E8 rebuilds and a Sundown SAE 1000D. Does an…

Can we expect the Nightshade to be similar to a BTL? Meaning they will excel in the same application?

Hey, Just wondering if I should look into getting another 1200 or 2 1500's in the future or a 3000 lol... I wanna hook up a 1200 to each BL but I was thinking what If I wanted a single BTL or Nightshade in the future 1200's can't be strapped... or shouldI just wait and cross that bridge when I get to it. Thx Josh

My Maxx-Link is installed & dialed in as well as my amps and everything is sounding great. Since I had the clamp and dmm in the truck I decided to go ahead and take some measurements. My strapped 1500s put out 90v and 40a while drawing 400a of current with voltage dropping from 13.5v to 12.2v. If my math is right thats 3600watts @ 2.25ohm & 12.2v out of a pair of strapped 1500s. My subs are dual 1s wired in a parallel series configuration. Basically the amps are strapped @ 1ohm (0.5ohm each). All testing was done on music playing Gorilla Zoe - Waddle (nice consistant 34hz bass line that works well with my current 33hz tuning). Measurements were taken 5-6 se…

can someone explain this to me in simple terms of how it works? I'm trying to understand how it works but am giving myself a headache. I want this amp to power 2 fronts, 2 rears and 2 "show off" external speakers. Now, by doing a standard wiring job, all 4 in car speakers @4ohm would be receiving as advertised 100w per speaker. I set all the x-overs on the amp the way i want them to be. I then decide to hookup these 2 extra speakers in tri mode by bridging each of the 2 speakers on ch1+2 and ch3+4. This is where i get lost... If the original speakers were receiving 100w before, what are they getting now including the add-on speakers? The amp is rated for 320x2 @4ohm... …

Hey Guys. I wanted to show you a few items I picked up this weekend in Newton Grove NC. What's In The Box? NSCSPL Loudest Of The Day JFF- Truck 165.5DB in the Port This is what was in the box! The Highlander Sword. One Hell of a competition and against a tough competitor named Brian Thornhill The Highlander Sword Unsheathed. I really had an awesome time at the show this weekend and thanks to everyone for helping me out. Props to Jacob for building a very strong subwoofer and My 3500D amplifier. I set a State Record in StreetBeatz with 149.4DB on music. Chock up another victory for Team Sundown.

So what's involved in refurbing an amp? I wouldn't mind snatching up that 1500D, but I don't want to lay down four bills, only to be stuck with a large paperweight just out of the 90 day warranty. Jacob, hows the reliability rate with the refurbs?

Ok, I'm going to try to make this as easy to understand haha. It's for a 100.2 btw. I went to mock up my amps in my trunk, and in order to retain access to my spare tire, I'm mounting my amps in a certain way. In order to mount it the way I want, I think I need to unbolt the exterior casing, and turn it 180*. Basically my OCD is kicking in, and I want the "sundown" facing in the direction my other amp is facing. I know I can probably unbolt the strip that says sundown, but can I actually rotate the casing like I said? Basically, the 100.2 sticker lies over the power, but can I turn the casing so the sticker lies over the rca inputs? If not, maybe Jacob could hook me up wi…

I ended up getting this sub off Jake and I'm so glad I did. Here's a link to CA.com http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=268616 I'm considering trying out DB drag or something in the spring. Not only is it loud but it sounds pretty good for an SPL sub (much better that a DMX 15 IMO) Anyway, I'll have some pics of my trunk up once I clean up the wiring.

I use a ~$300 DMM to measure our coils here at the shop... why ? Well I'll show you... * Our Dual-1 coil on a cheap meter. * On our meter - factory spec is 0.84 ohms +/- 12%. This thing is dead on. * Our Dual-2 on a cheap meter. * On our meter - factory spec 1.85 +/- 12%. Again... 12% variance allows up to 2.07 and the meter only reads to the tenths place so it is dead on. So. Keep that in mind when reading your coils on a cheaper meter.

Question #1: I will be purchasing a Sax-125.2 within the next week, the speakers that will be playing on them are (8) Eminence Alpha-6A, four on each channel. The frequency is 85-6,000 Hz, so how would i go about setting the crossoverson the amp (confusing to me)? Do I set it at Full Pass, then change the HPF to a setting and then the LPF to a setting? Question #2: I will be purchasing a Sax-100.4 within the next week, the speakers playing on them will be (4) Eminence Alpha-6C, four on two channels(2 on each one); (4) Kicker KS20 tweeters, four on two channels(2 on each one). The frequency on Mids are 81-5,500 Hz, and the frequency on the tweeters are 4,500-21,000 Hz. So…

I just picked up a 3rd 1500D last night for a steal of a deal and might pick up a 4th in a few weeks if the guy decides to sell it. Is there way to wire one remote gain knob to both strapped pairs of them? If not how do you normally control multiple amps as I really like being able to turn them up/down from the driver's seat?

Ok, I am the final stages of planning my system. Car is a 1997 Nissan Maxima. Musical preference is Rock and Roll( AcDc, Pink Floyd, Rush and pretty much all heavy metal). Amps are going to be all Sundown. I have 4 E8's on order for the midbass powered by a SAX-1004.D, 2 in front doors, 2 in rear deck. Front Stage (in addition to E8 midbass) will be Mach 5 MLi-65's and Seas 27TFFNC/G Tweeters active powered by a SAX-100.4D. My question comes down to the substage. I had originally planned 2 FI Q15's sealed on a SAZ-3000D. Only reason for that is I've always had sealed enclosures, I've never tried a ported. I'm open to opinions here, so here are the 2 options I'm t…

Ok i'm trying to get down to around 6-6.5 cubes net. but the dimensions i came up with won't work because the subs will be basically sitting on the ports. I've went over so many different dimensions and they're all coming out to around 7-7.5 cubes after port and sub. I wanna do subs up ports back, will be using 4 4" full length aero's. i've got a max of 24" high 37" wide and 24" deep to work with. Someone give me a hand, as i want to start this build tomorrow. If it matters this will be for straight daily and bass race. Also, it will be going in a 2001 2dr. blazer Thanks
