I think this will be my last try to get some information. So you folks are my last hope to help or point me in a different direction. Here is my question. If I want to build a box of X cubic feet and there is not enough space where I want to build, can I build another box and have the two boxes attached by pipe or tube or sealed passage way etc.. Example: I would like to build a box in the right rear most corner of my trunk but there is only 1.5 cubic feet of space available if I build the box, and my sub needs 3 cubic feet. But if I built a mirror replica of the enclosure and installed it on the left rear most corner of my trunk and connected them by... I don't know, let…

I am a new Sundown Dealer and I have been seeing great results w/ these woofers. BUT...the lack of mounting information is really hurting my leeway to fully expand my designs in limited space builds. I see that mount depth is listed most subs, but motor diameter would REALLY help also. probably an unreasonable request (just wishing) but a google sketch-up model of the subs would make my world exponentially better I just finished an install today w/ 2 SD-2 10's in a '97 ext cab chevy (sealed ~.6cuft each, customer loved it, great low-end response) and I "called" the SD-motor diameter ~7". After crunching some #'s, I figured that I can build a SICK budget setup w/ a sin…

I am a novice and am looking for some suggestions. I have heard a lot good things about Sundown subs, looking at the website I am similarly impressed. I have a Toyota Tacoma Double cab and am looking to put a modest sq system in it. I have jvc double din and alpine s series component and coaxials in place. I have been trying to research a sq sub for the low end. I was going to use a single 10 in a Tacotunes enclosure ( 0.55 cu sealed with a 5.5 in top mount depth enclosure). And powering with a 5 channel amp, either re audio or alpine. I have been looking at the e series and the sd-2 series. Which sundown sub would be the best choice for a sq sub? I appreciate an…

I know a made a review thread before, but I didn't fee like bringing that back to the top. I recently just got my third amp was able to really give some power to these guys before I was only giving them ~30 watts. Amp in theory is putting about ~125 per speaker, rough guess is probably they are seeing ~110 at full tilt. Man does power bring these things to life. Crossover set at 85@24dB slope. The combination of the MS-8 really helps brings these speakers to life. They get LOUD and have no problem keeping up with my horns receiving almost the same amount of power (of course the MS8 helps with that too). They sound amazing as well, even at full tilt. But my biggest concern…

The frame renderings themselves are not ready to be shared yet but the cone body and surrounds are ready. Each surround has the following calculated geometric capacity : 10 -- 50mm one-way (frame allows 45) 12 -- 55mm one-way (frame allows 50) 15 -- 60mm one-way (frame allows 55) Therefore; each one has a 5mm cushion beyond what the frame can handle in it so the surround CANNOT reach the maximum geometric limit -- as this can cause stress and eventually tear the surround. We've taken note that no open tool / readily available surround can handle what some of our newer designs can dish out already... and future designs will be even more extreme on throw so these surrounds …

I'm working on alot of stuff right now... I am not 100% sure how much will make it to the market by the end of this year but lets cover what is currently in the pipe-line : 1) Nightshade v.3 -- Already discussed on the forums a bit. This will be 15s and 18s only for a while -- maybe a few 12s for burp apps but NO TENS. 2) New Sundown baskets in 10/12/15 sizes. I can't show off the renderings yet until my ornamental patent application is in... but think at LEAST as much clearance as the "Eclipse" baskets AND even stronger. 18s will definitely not make it for 2012... but are on the road-map for 2013. This will allow me to make the NS v.3 in 12s for music applications. These…

Been doing alot of work on some new amp products -- I don't get the time I used to on the forums to keep everyone in the loop but I'll go ahead and announce them today! Production is starting this week so we are looking at ~90 days or so. I won't be starting pre-orders right away but do expect a pre-order at some point once I get more solid time-lines. SAX-150.2 ($400 MAP) : Two channel Full-Range Class-D design (similar to 125.4) -- also runs on 19v like SAX-125.4 SAX-100.4 v.2 ($400 MAP) : Four channel Class-A/B design with similar crossovers to the 125.4 -- but a lower price as it's an A/B amp. Now featuring a fan as with most of our new stuff. This model will run to…

I have always been a bit SQ fan. Clean and clear sound is what brought me into car audio but I had to make a detour towards output for most of our company history so far in order to meet my customer demands. Of course... that has not stopped me from implementing features for lower distortion in many of our models But now I feel it is time to really gear a product DIRECTLY towards SQ. I've started development on what I consider a true Reference grade component set... one with objective distortion levels up there with the BEST products on the market at any price level. This complete set will be priced under $1,000 from an authorized dealer; how much under that I do not kno…

I did some early prototyping around this time last year on some mid-level sets and they were quite good, IMO... I decided to re-evaluate them a bit based on the listening I've had with them since that time. I received the first early prototype of the new mid-level set a few days ago and I will be replacing the 2011 prototypes in my car with these soon. The biggest change is the cone material... for a set like this that crosses over higher I prefer a paper base vs. the composite base (woven material) that the other set utilized. The set is NOT done as I plan to modify the frame on the mid as well as the motor ventilation. There will be no fancy eye-candy to the set -- very…

First one is complete. This should take care of alot of common and uncommon questions about our woofer dimensions. I am looking into printing them at full scale on our packing boxes as well. I'll be adding them to the X thread when the X drawings are done and will also add them to our site for pretty much every model woofer we make.

I recently just purchased a set of Rainbow Germaniums (150w RMS) and a Profi 12" subwoofer (DVC 2ohm - 50~350w RMS). Currently I have eD amps in my car (9.2 & 9.1) and I've heard alot of great things about Sundown amps. The SAX-100.4 caught my eye after seeing pictures of it, but not sure if it's gonna work with my setup. If I run Channels 1-2 to my Germaniums and have Channels 3-4 to my sub (needs to be 2ohm if possible), would this be a possible setup?? I know the Germaniums will not get the power it needs @ 100x2, but if I bridged the 100.4, then that is way too much power for them. Also, how many watts will the Profi sub be getting if I bridged the rear chann…

ok so i'm about ready to buy my amps. i will have 4 15" fully loaded 1 ohm btl's in about 16 cubes tuned to 32hz. but before i buy the amps...can a 3000d handle a pair of fully loaded btl's @ 1ohm? only time it will get turned up loud will be for competition burps. maybe to turn up for demos for friends . other than that it'll be regular volume, so nothing strenuous. i have a 200 amp H/O alt atm, couple extra batteries (will upgrade to some kinetiks in the future), and i'm getting a solid 14.3/14.4 volts. i may try to add another alt if money allows. also...would bass race be out of the question with this setup? to prevent burning up the amps? i'm kinda going out on a l…

I'm going to run two sets of Infinity coaxials, so four speakers total. The 100.4 would be a better choice than the 100.2, correct? My sub will be run on a Sundown SAZ-3000D.
