Creating a new and separate thread to clear the clutter. We still have a fair amount available ! ---------- Paypal me at [email protected] to order or talk to your favorite dealer. ---------- SAX-50.4 -- $200 shipped in continental 48 states I will still include a 2-year warranty on these. Most customers shopping for an amp at this power level are more concerned about $ to watt and less about crossover flexibility. So we are closing out the 50.4 and will be developing a less expensive model to replace it without as much crossover flexibility to offer more watts per dollar. Make no mistake... the 50.4 is deceptively powerful as it produces over 60 watts per channel…

First off, I hooked up the power wire and ground wrong. Power wire in the ground slot, ground in power slot (yeah i fail hardcore). I had the speakers wires hooked up and the RCAs, and remote wire. Not sure if this caused the problem, but definitely a good possiblity i believe There's a hiss coming from my speakers when i have the volume all the way down, and i can faintly hear distortion when the speakers are playing. I regrounded the HU (a 9887), checked the ground on the amp, they're fine. I switched RCAs and the hiss/distortion was still there. I had some cheap RCAs that have a 1/8" jack on the other side, so i took those and hooked them up and hooked my Ipod dire…

Just to start things off, I haven't really done much research and I'm completely new to this forum, so I'm sure I'm repeating a previously stated question. Anyway, I'm new to the car audio game and I want to hit lower notes. I have a Sundown X12 on an Orion CB3200.1D. It's in a box that I can give you just about zero information on because I have no information on it. I had a local company just build me a decent box that would get the job done. I somewhat understand that bigger box = lower frequency, or something like that, but how can I hit lower notes without changing the box? Is there anything I can do with positioning of the box (I have a 2002 Ford Explorer, btw), …

So I bought a SAZ-3000d from db-r last december. I finally got to hook it up today! It turned on, sub wouldn't move, then the amp would go into protect. The btl was wired at one Ohm. So after reading the manual, I disconnected the speaker wire and the amp did fine, didn't go into protect mode. So I re-did the wiring on the sub but before dragging it out to the car, I decided to test the amp. Turned it on and the Blue power light came on and about one second later it switched over to protect. Needless to say I was astonished. The wiring is done as so: From battery plug in of amp to 300amp ANL fuse, from fuse to + battery, from + battery to another 300 amp ANL fuse, from t…

So... I want to do something for real this time and actually get a vehicle that can handle some weight and still drive around without issues. Concerns about driveability have really hampered my previous plans for something large. I really do NOT like driving huge vehicles either for the most part. I happened across a really interesting vehicle by chance on Craigslist last week and decided to pull the trigger ! 2006 Chevy Express 3500 w/ Duramax Diesel Engine! I test drove it and it was alot more comfortable for me to drive than most huge vehicles and has some real power behind it as well. I am looking at mostly music and mostly impressive demoing but would plan to compete…

  16. Just got my first pictures of the first completed prototype of the new SAZ-1500D v.3 model... so the cat is out of the bag on this one! As the model that got us started it is only appropriate that it is the first model to be shown in the 2012 trim! Newly tooled 2012 casing -- you can still tell it IS a Sundown amp but it is a refresher and also narrower. The FETs are mounted at a 45 degree angle to shrink the width AND avoid spring clips (which I've never liked). So we are getting the best of both worlds on that. * Fully custom tooled boards for all of our new 2012 models complete with fans. More photos to come as I get the other models done! Yes... you do see 16 power s…

Hey Guys, Just wondering, how do you know if you are clipping your amp? I thought it was if your voltage drops to low. If it does have something to do about voltage, where can you get the electronic volt meters I've seen in ppl's car?

Just a heads up... I will be gone for about 5 days, January 5 - 10, for the CES show this year. Sundown Audio will be closed for that time... if it is an emergency I may be able to have someone ship an item during that time -- but normal orders will not go anywhere until I get back from CES.

Okay since I'm so close to putting my new system together for the 2011 MWSPL season I have this question. My electrical will consist of a 180 amp DC Power Alternator, a CarQuest NGT Extreme 100 Ah AGM battery under the hood and a Deka 9A31 in the trunk, will this be enough to power a SAZ-3500D? I've heard yes and no. Of course I know to watch my voltage but I've had a few people tell me to get at least 2 batts for the trunk (if I had the space) it's going in the back of a 01 Camry.

Car Audio Classifieds -- Part I of this project from April 2010. Continued from last year... since we proved the prior box worked so well even made from super low grade plywood we finally got around to making one from genuine Russian 13-ply birch plywood. Derrick was up for some testing yesterday and was able to stay up here to work on this box for me today -- on to the pictures : * Back wall cut -- have some weight on the port to hold the glue down for a bit as it will be permanently attached from the inside. * High strength 3M Epoxy glue to hold it in.

I am going to make the official announcement now that we are sold out of new SAZ-2000Ds -- yes, I am in fact sold out... a few used ones remain but that is it. To replace it I am developing an SAZ-2500D model. This is a new board tooling for Sundown and is ours in the USA exclusively just like the SAZ-3500D. Just a HAIR larger than the SAZ-2000D and over 500 watts more power is expected from it. I am excited about it -- more details will be available once I have the prototype in hand. This evens out the amp line to 1500, 2500, 3500, and 4500 so there is not such a large gap from the 2000 to the 3500. It is too early for ETAs or pricing... but I will do a pre-order once te…

So... the SA-8 is pretty badass... but I want something louder. Starting on this project : Yep... a Neo 8 with a 3" coil and 22mm linear one-way excursion (that is XBL^2 that you see) and x-mech of 27mm on the frame I'll be utilizing. Will handle around 1000-watts RMS without much trouble thermally and mechanically. Tooling new spiders and cones just for this driver. Going to see how it turns out... but simulation predicts motor force more than 300% higher than the SA-8 if all turns out according to plan. I am designing it for myself primarily as I want to do 157s with four 8s... but I think others will enjoy them too =) Pricing will be a bit higher than an NS v.2 due t…
