I have finally began to piece together the equipment for my next install. Being away at school makes it difficult to work on things, so slowly but surely it will get done. I'll try to keep this thread updated as I go along. To begin, the vehicle will be a 2002 Ford Explorer. The equipment that I am installing: Two 12" Fi Qs Orion 2500D Orion 8004 AudioControl EQX I began by tearing the entire out so I could lay this down:Two rolls of RAAMmat BXT and 9 yards of Ensolite. Here is how the truck looked originally: I began in the back and worked my way up front. In some photos you will see I used Spray Foam to fill in some of the space in the panels. I then l…

I finally finished (yeah, right!) the system in my 2002 Toyota 4Runner. I couldn't have done it without everyone's help here on the SSA forums, particularly denim, SSaudio, SoundSplinter, mrray13, and probably others that I'm forgetting (sorry!). Anyways, enough with the chatter. Enjoy your build log pr0n! I originally saw this design and thought it would be a nice fit for my daily SQ system. After reading that mrray13 achieved good results, it was a no-brainer to move forward with this instead of the typical sealed, since I have the room for it. Here I'm dry-fitting the first cuts for the TL box. Cutting out the front panel. Proof that this really is the TL box…

I recently did a Cadillac Escalade ESV for a buddy of mine with (2) Fi BL 18's with the flatwound coil and cooling option. Built the box to 14.63 cubic feet with the port tuned to 33 hertz. Wrapped it in vinyl to match the interior of the vehicle and did a big "Fi" logo on the back of the box (notice the logo is an "innie", not an "outie".The amp, for now, is a Hifonics BXI2010D that puts out 1752 watts RMS. I will be swapped with a Rockford Fosgate T40001bd eventually. Built to be a daily driver. Here it is: Sounds great. Real nice quality and it really hits the lows nice, but it just isn't near as loud as it could be with the right amount of power goin…

  9. So I finally decided to start my first build log as my box is almost done and I've received most of the equipment. So far my build will consist of 2 15" SSA Icon 15" in a 7.2 cubic foot enclosure tuned to 32hz. The subs will be ran by a Crescendo BC2000D wired with one positive run of ofc Knu 0 guage and one negative run. Battery is a brand new xs power d2700, front speakers are hertz hsk components in front and hertz ecx in rear on a Rockford T15004. Also have a 250 amp alt from Mike Singer coming. Will post pictures later today. I'm open to suggestions and critisism as long as its constructive as I'm always looking to learn.

  11. This system was built by a shop in California before the owner of the vehicle moved out here to Arizona. The goal of the build was all SQ and, while some of the fabrication was okay looking, alot of it simply did not match with the quality of the sound. Also, it was pretty difficult to get to all of the amplifiers or the bit one if you needed to. So, the new goals for the new build were to dress up the trunk a little bit more so that it's style would be complimentary to the vehicle and to the sound systems. The door pods needed to be redone to accept a new size speaker. The tweeter pods in the a pillar needed to be completely rebuilt to allow for a much larger overa…

I hate to do a build log before I am completely done, but it looks like I won't get much else done between now and when I leave for Korea, and when I get back, I will probably upgrade, so the build will start over at that point. Starts off as a stock Jetta with an upgraded head unit. Not the best of head units, but it does what I need for now. It is a Kenwood DDX-418. The GLI model comes with from the factory with a Monsoon audio system. This consists of a factory 8 Channel amp running a tweeter and woofer in each door. It sounded good, and got loud, but there was significant lacking of the low range frequencies. Anything below 80Hz was either distorted, or non existant d…

  18. Hello, I haven't logged into this site in probably 6 years. Hello again. At any rate I recently acquired a new to me vehicle, a 2004.5 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax. I haven't had any interest in car audio for a long time but I bought this truck and it has some odd Kenwood head unit and factory speakers which sound really bad, even by factory speaker standards. I planned on just getting a pair of speakers for the doors and calling it a day, while shopping I got the idea to do some other stuff with things I found in my garage. It won't be anything fancy but it will do the trick hopefully. I also don't want to spend very much money. The truck came with a …

Bottom of the box.. Day two I glued the second baffle on, and cut out the sub holes. This is the second time I've used a jig saw, first time was yesterday when I cut out a mount for y CB out of some left over mdf. I think the holes turned out okay? Its all glued inside on the seams.
