So I should formally introduce myself, the name’s Sami O., I am a citizen of the mighty (or mightily small) country Finland. I live with my fiance, and my dog. Im big into fishing, as well as car audio and electronics of all sorts. That’s my dog out on the boat, hes a cool dude, and loves to be in anybodys lap. I started doing car audio work professionally at the end of high school, and went to college at Rensselaer Polytechnic, before going overseas to begin my military service. I am 26 now, I work as an organic chemist at Connecticut College, and still maintain my car audio career as well. I served in the Finnish military and am an active U.N. reserve as a mobi…

Well i started this tonight. I'm still up in the air between picking either Sundown SA 10's, or Skar Audio VVX 10's. I'm kinda of leaning toward the Skars, simply because not many people have the 10's, and i see a lot of SA10 single cab truck installs. But anyway, the box is 2.4 cubes net with 2 4" PVC pipes (flared at the end) tuned to 33 hz. Will finish the box in the next couple of days, but still need to sell me current sub to buy the new ones. Anyone have suggestions on what kind of 10's i should run? I'll be putting about 1300-1400 wrms to the pair. And, is the little "blocker bar" in front of the port a good idea with the port being only about 7" from the sub? i'v…

Hi SSA guys. My friend and I just recently picked up a very cheap car and we are going to turn it into a Zombie Apocalypse Vehicle (ZAV). All of the modifications will be done by hand using readily available materials. This is purely for fun and everybody's enjoyment. First things first, every Zombie car needs a sound system!! So this is what we have done. Searched amazon for some of the cheapest 15" subs we could have shipped. We came upon the Absolute USA SN 2000 subs. $30 shipped each. And to make it even better, found a iPod docking deck for $27 shipped. After that we went and got some wood. 3/4 OSB had the best price. Used left over wire and fuses from previous bui…

so as i said in my other post in the fab section, I got a little money for my birthday, so some of it went towards this: So, out with the old sealed: Here's the helper that I've enlisted: Now just to finalize the plans. Aiming for ~4 cubes at 34 Hz, Sub up still, port back. Still have some other left over MDF in the garage, so I should have enough wood now.

  8. Just realized I have been posting this build everywhere except for here. Allow me to share:  Amps on the left and right, Processor in the middle. The white plexi is going to be for wires to run through from the audio processor. The rest from the amps will go to the left and right of the amp rack.

  9. So my 150dB @ 25Hz thread was a feeler. I found a local guy that wants my van after its finished and touched up/cleaned up thats selling a Limo for 10k. We went through all the receipts from the build. He wants to do an even swap. From the exhisting wall to the rear is 15', it's almost 5' tall and almost 5' wide. I can get 300 cubic feet plus some out of it and slot port it, 15Hz tune, and it only needs 5kw... two AP30001Ds each only being pushed to 2500 watts.

The Double Deez are out, no porno. :\ Now I'm gonna try a pair of JBL w15GTi's. If you missed the original build feel free and check it out here. Worst build ever! This is a straight drop in replacement, so things might not work out as planned. We'll just have to see what happens. I'm not looking to get louder, just looking for a cleaner sound Lets get started with some disassembly pics. Dang these fhawkers are heavy! A little side by side action. Those JBLs are wild looking fo sho! Side by side looking down at the cones. The DD have the edge on this one with the carbon fiber dust caps. With the tall-n-narrow surrounds the DD also look bigger. So me and Jake met up today with Edgar in San Marcos to give him his custom made enclosure that he ordered from us made for 2 18 bls. Too big for our cars to carry so we had to take the tahoe I even gave it my signature blessing for maximum spl. Jake liked it so much he wanted to live in the dammed thing. The box came out really nice; ready for vynil, carpet, rhinoliner, you name it! Here are some pics. pix whatever you kids call them these days. Thanks again Edgar!

Alright Ive been bored after work this week, so Ive decided to build a bandpass box for my 10" z-5500 woofer and see how it sounds. This is my first bandpass box so I went with the 3/1 ratio. Designed by me of course, tuned to 40 hz with 15 sq in of port per cube. On to the equipment! Who ever said all prefabs are bad????? Me giving it a quick sanddown Heres what the rest of it looks like. I built these little boxes during the winter (while I was bored also) They get hella loud Will eventually paint it, but good enough for now! It hits a hell of a lot lower and louder than the original prefab box.

Don't have anything to show yet, but here is the plan: 8 cube box with an 8" aero port. 3/4 mdf all the way around with double layered top. 8" PVC port flared and flush mounted. 2x4 going from front to back, and top to bottom. Going to use bolts through the side as terminals. Woofer will be either an 18" UFO BTL or HDC3. Tuning will likely be 30hz. Amp is an old school Memphis 1500w. Old school meaning back before they wired to 1 ohm. Stock alt holds at 14.1 v with the red top under the hood so electrical won't be upgraded. I'm getting the wood and building the box Sunday. Opinions? Tips?
