This is a compilation of the evolution of designs I put my poor truck through including the latest incarnation of my 04 F-150 extended cab. Basically it is three build logs sandwiched into one. The first one was just an asinine monstrosity. 25 cubes, took out the back seat it was awful, in fact the only decent thing about the enclosure is the drop in port design. The second was my first attempt at a cut through design. I actually got the major points right on the first try. The cut through came out well, as did the box and it did not leak. The amp racks were awful and I ended up blowing two 3000Ds because the amps were mounted directly to the enclosure, but that is what e…

Pioneer head unit 2 sets of 6.5 Polk components 4 10" Polk subs Memphis 5 channel amp 1/0 wiring 2 Kinetik batteries Custom fabbed door pods, battery trays, and amp rack. The sub choices were limited due to budget and space. All factory power and grounds upgraded to 1/0 wire and a high ouput alternator is planned over the winter. All power and signal wires have been kept seperated. The cab floor, rear cab wall, and doors have been fully sound deadend. Sub enclosure. 3/4" mdf used with 3 internal braces. This was built by my friend Amp rack. Used 3/4x3/4x1/8" angle and some flatbar f…

New box I built for my truck. It fits a whole lot better. I'm still waiting for my new port to come in but heres a picture with an old port. I'm not sure how I should finish the box. I wanted to paint it the color of my truck which is ford's orange/red rust color but I can't find anything close to it in stores. I'm hoping you guys can give me some new suggestions on how I should finish it. Once the port comes in I'll take pictures of it in my truck and let you know how it sounds.

Alright well, this is my second real system. My first one was a package deal with sony xplods!!!!! hah anyways, they sounded good for the price but after a LONG time of thinking, and I'm talking very long, I decided on the BTL. I have most of the stuff for the install, but this will be a pretty long one due to school, and my resources. I have an 02 explorer xlt. Here is a pic of it: I already have the remote wire, and the RCA's installed on the stock head unit (upgrading that later when I get more $$), and a 200 amp alternator. Heres what has to go in: (2 batterys) (third battery, can't decide if I want to put all 3, just the other two, or just this one?) I'll …

Hey guys as promised started the center console build for two Fi Q 10s. Box specs changed quite a bit because of a too tall center console cushion, but it actually worked out better, I can now make it look a little more one off custom. Box Specs: H:14 W:15 L:30 Net Volume: 4 Inch Dimpled Precision Port Tuned at a hair under 28 Hz Box material was 23/32 Auracco Baffle was doubled for 1.5 inches Here are some pics, the box will be braced with some 1 inch dowels and polyfill will get wrapped around the body of the port along with the exterior being stained to match trucks woodgrain and hand rubbed to a mirror finish. Call me crazy but i cannot figure out how to post p…

I'm kinda new to car audio. Right now I'm just running a sundown e8v3 on a boss armor 1500 which actually puts out the ammount I need. Anyway I really want to upgrade and be loud. I'm not about spl and hitting high dbs more about music and perceived loudness. I can work with about 3.5 cubic foot box. I'm considering either a fi q 18 or a fi bl 15. I just need advise on which would be better.

  18. How to start this off????? Well, I got this way cool Fi Car Audio 10" Q. Here are some pics of how it arrived to me. Waiting at the doorstep. Opening up the box. Out of the box and on to the driveway for some pics. Side profile shot. Get a load of that motor. O_o A word from the people who made this possible. The plan will be for a simple ported box with an aero-port. I'll input all the manufacturers parameters and box specs into Hornresp and see what it chugs out. To follow up, I'll use a Dayton Audio Test System (D.A.T.S.) formerly know as the Woofer Tester, to verify the impedance curve and box tuning. If all goes well, I'll have a nice bumping…

  19. Ok the project is to remian stealth but get loud! These trucks suck for under the seat room so the best bet is to go the the console with the enclosure....so i did......It is fairly easy to get 1.5 cubes and still remain at a resonable height and does remian comfortable. I did not take alot of early pics....I had bateries charging and could not slow down so I started taking picks about half way through......sorry. objective: Keep stock arm covers keep stock top arm/storage area. Woofer being used is a Fi 12" SSD the rest of the system is still uninstalled...I dont have the time to run wires and install the HU so a local shop willl cover this fun activity. So I drew out a…

Hey everyone, hows it goin. ok, so today i started my first ever fiberglass project in my little brothers SUV, it's a mitsubishi montero. im putting a single 10" mtx 5500 single 4 ohm woofer in it. he listens to rock so i figured a 10 would be perfect in a sealed enclosure. today i went to the store got all the resin, hardener, mat, brushes, aluminum foil, making tape, ect ect. ive never done this before but i have read alot of forums on it and thought i would try it out. ( not in my vehicle of course ) so far tonight i got the foil layed in the area i want the enclosure. after i got that how i wanted it i put a quick thin layer of resin down then put the mat down. i lea…

So after a very long hiatus from this site, I wanted to post some updated pics of where Im at currently. Originally I started out with a couple pioneer shallow mounted subs, which were great. But always left me wondering what more I could get, so I found SSA and picked up a single 15" Xcon. I absolutely loved it. Except it was in a huge rear firing ported enclosure. Then I started having kids, and the need for my cargo space forced me back to a shallow mount option using two Sundown SD3 12"s. Again, this left me wondering "what more?". Anyways, after I bought my first Xcon I loved it so much I bought a second. But I just never had the opportunity, until now....8ft^3 …
