  1. Started by Miles,

I didn't get any pictures during the process (camera was down and decided to not come on until it was all done). But the box is 3.3 cubic feet with 48 sq in of port tuned to 32 hz. This is also the first time i've ever done a kerf port, and i thought it turned out pretty good. Questions? Comments?

  5. Mechman was kind enough to custom machine a case including powder coating (Mechman Orange) and build me this alternator since it's a rare request for a hyundai santa fe. They had it built from scratch and shipped inside of two weeks! Anyways, a good friend of mine is a certified master mechanic and has some time on the weekend, so he is going to install this for me. It's in a really tough spot IMO, bottom front corner of the engine bay, and believe me, it's stuffed in there. On to the Pictures!

The project has begun. My first step is to make the car a bit quieter and eliminate some possible rattling and ambient noise for a future system and just plain comfort. Here's what I got so far. Supplies: 2 Rolls Raamat 45 sq.ft Vertex Barrier (will be here soon) Ensolite (will be here soon) I've installed the two rolls of Raamat in the cabin floor, back seat, and all four doors. I still have about a 1/4 roll left that I will use on the doors before I install the Ensolite. -Floorboard has two or three layers all around. You will notice that not every inch is covered in my install. There are several solid spots in the cabin of the car and I couldn't justify adding the BXT …

This is a compilation of the evolution of designs I put my poor truck through including the latest incarnation of my 04 F-150 extended cab. Basically it is three build logs sandwiched into one. The first one was just an asinine monstrosity. 25 cubes, took out the back seat it was awful, in fact the only decent thing about the enclosure is the drop in port design. The second was my first attempt at a cut through design. I actually got the major points right on the first try. The cut through came out well, as did the box and it did not leak. The amp racks were awful and I ended up blowing two 3000Ds because the amps were mounted directly to the enclosure, but that is what e…

Looking into dual alternator bracket. installed a pioneer head unit with steeling wheel controls and bose amp interface Uploaded with ImageShack.us I tore out my back seat and am adding a sub. Trying to see what and where I can fit everything. Uploaded with ImageShack.us I finally found my wind noise it was the stupid cab vents. I am looking into soundproofing options. After much searching I have decided to use an adhesive a little like the sds site and cover it wi…

Hey guys it's spring break so it's time to start working on my truck again. For those that do not know I drive a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Ext. Cab 5.9L Laramie SLT. It may be old but it's only got 45K miles on it. Anyway I plan on removing everything and rebuilding from the ground up. I will be using the same equipment and box, but I will make everything neater and more professional. Over this weeks break I plan on repainting my box, carpeting my amp rack and rear seat combo, installing SDS CLD Tiles, Plasti dipping all chrome and silver parts, along with either an exhaust install or new headlights and hids (or both). Along with these upgrades and installs I plan on adding ple…

Been working up some ideas and have decided to persue the latest idea. Attempting to be LOUD and PIMP looking but is quite the challenge to both. This one is more focused towards looking nice but should through up some descent numbers too. It isn't an SPL focused setup but surely at some point in time this year I will have something more towards SPL... just depends on how this one sounds. I am anxious to build something so here it begins. Here is my dirty VUE Under the hood Cargo Area The Amps! Slot cutting with guide board held down by Josh... so much faster than clamping/moving lol. Thanks Josh! Testing flexibility More flexibility testing Gravity at work

Well figured I had better make a build log for this. I have 40ft^2 of Second Skin Damplifier coming tomorrow and I'm buying another 40ft^2 and 18ft^2 of SS Luxury Liner. I also got my comps in the day before. Rainbow Profi line 5.25" set. I went with the 5.25's b/c I want to keep the truck looking as stock as possible. I'm still debating on were to put my tweeters and the crossovers though. I'm open to any suggestions... I'll have lots of pictures through out the whole process. It will probably take me a good week plus to do it all b/c its my only vehicle and I need it for work so I will have to work small area's at a time. I'm hoping to deaden the crap out of the…

The vehicle is a '88 Caprice two tone, gray and maroon. The box is 5.2ft^3 net tuned to about 35hz right now. The amp is a Massive D5000.1 (2500 watts rms). The sub is a 08S15L7. I'm going to cut down the length some when the owner listens and then let him choose what he likes best. I told him I could make his setup as loud or louder than his older box with 2 of the same subs. He has a massive D5000.1 (2500watts rms at 1 ohm) and it was wired to 1 ohm before and now its going to be at 2 ohm. So half the cone area and half the power. And then the box will have black carpet. I'll be mounting his amp on the box when everything is decided with an extra layer of MDF with cus…

  15. Finally I got to do some real custom work again, seems like it's been forever. This customer is a great guy who loves to try out new speakers and gear all the time. He comes back regularly just to change things up a bit. This time, he wanted to take the kickpod plunge with his brand new Hybrid L3SE's and rework the door speaker position a bit. Since he does change drivers often, we had to make the door pods very user friendly so that he could. Here we go. Stackin templates to relocate the speaker location. Now, one shape. All the rings stacked up. You can see the countersinking set that is screwed into the base is removable to allow for the trim panel design. We …

My next build will consist of two 12bl's fully loaded and an AQ2200d. The box will be ported and built to specs. Now the only problem im going facing is that when running 2200WRMS, do you have to upgrade your alternator? or will you be fine with the xs 3100d? I will only play my system 3/4 of the way up for about 10min every day. Big 3 upgrade is already done.

So for xmas this year, santa was nice enough to get me a new Xcon and a Sundown SAZ-1500d v2. I previously had a Death row 12 running on a rockford amp. It sounded pretty good to me. Thought it was decently loud and hit the lows well. That was until the Xcon was in my trunk running off the sundown. I only have it set around 800 watts (electrical kinda weak) and it is louder then the Death Row was, definately alot cleaner, and hits the lows way better. Both the boxes were tuned to about 30hz. I love the Xcon, and can see what all the hype was about. They are phenomal sounding woofers, and get pretty loud. Can't wait till I can run some more power to it. Anyways…

So it finally got delivered last night at around 1030 pm from Rutland VT. I have always dreamed of owning a muscle era car, and decided that this year instead of building a computer or blowing my money elsewhere, that I would look for a project car with my tax return. After several weeks of looking, this is what I have found. The car is home, and after adding some gas it started right up. The stainless steel brake lines I ordered for the car have arrived, and after a short test drive today, I found out that it has either an oil or cooling system problem, and an evident misfire. That being said, this is a long term project that I hope to keep you guys in the l…
