I haven't been back to the forum in a long while as I have been quite busy with life, so in the last couple weeks i have gotten rid of my Prizm and picked up an A6 Avant (wagon) today. It has the factory Bose radio system already, so for now I will be using my factory radio. I just ordered the "keys" to remove the radio and later in this coming week I will order a hi/low converter. I found a Boss one online for 10 bucks (good idea?). I also picked up a Memphis Audio 16M1000d. Speaker is a Soundqubed HDC3.0 12" And for right now it's in a 1.8 cubic foot slot ported box tuned to 29 hz. I have a few pics of the car itself to start off my build log, and will try to update as…

So, I ordered two 15 inch sundown audio x-15 d4's I'll be running at 1ohm I have been looking for box plans so I don't have to do all the math myself! I would really like the subs facing up and ported! I have a ton of room to work with. 36" deep x 47" wide x 21" high. of course it can be smaller if possible. I have found a box I really like but the website that has it wants $50 for the plans. I really don't want to spend $50 on a PDF files with measurements and then still have to buy the MDF, glue, screws etc and then build it. So if anyone could offer some help here on building a box maybe a website or just toss me some plans that would be great This would…

Hey guys, well i bought my ute mid last year and have been pondering a full stereo setup for a while now. Being a single cab hilux i'm a bit tight on room for a sub since the passenger seat is fixed, and am not keen on the new slimline subs. So i finally got around to making a custom fibreglass box that sits behind the seats. At this stage the install is at about 80% completion, as my funds have dried up due to University. The gear im using is Headunit: JVC KW-AVX626 7" Touchscreen Splits: MB Quart RVF 216 (snagged a pair of originals before they changed to german maestro) Sub: Alpine 12" Type S Dual 4ohm voice coil (only full size 12 i could fit without using a slimline…

well, to be honest, i just got finished looking through some of the build logs on here. and i can honestly say that, im a little disappointed in my build. this is really my first time doing everything w/o the help of my dad. hes not really around anymore, so i decided to try and tackle this by myself. ive caught alot of crap about how the box looks w/ fiberglass. i thought it was air bubbles at first to. but i didnt let the fleece harden completely, so it started sagging when the glass was kicking off. so its 100% air void free. i even sanded some down to make sure. i have 2 memphis mojo 10s going in it. i was going to run soundstream tarantula trx1500ds for it, but i dec…

i'm finally going to have a soundstage in my room i always cheat. .1$ / ft = cheap cuts. but i couldn't afford right now tools like the shop has ignore the particle board. i had parts cut for some furniture. first time with the router. mid hole is a tiny bit too big. the tweeter fits perfect. i love my circle jig. diy terminals ftw ? still missing something, but it should be ready soon now all i have to do is sand the bondo and give it a test. working thursday and friday afternoons means painting is going to take a looong time. no pics of the actual build. getting all the tools on the table took more time than the actual assembly. i planned these boxes as temporary…

Today i cleaned out my trunk and started building the enclosure. I put together the bottom, back and two sides today. I sealed up all the sides with silicon, and im not going to touch the enclosure for about 4 days due to school. In this picture i have sealed up all the sides. In the background is my old sub box my fi bl. This pic shows my port and the enclosure half way done. BOy this is going to look good when i carpet it. I put the enclosure in my trunk before i sealed up the sides, and let me tell you it barely fit. It takes up the whole entire trunk. I sat in the box lol and i fit in it hahah. Well there are many more pics to come.

Hey y'all! So I've had this little home theater project going in my mind for quite a while consisting of 4 15" DCONS and at this point I've collected the amp for the project and a pair of DCONS. At the same time, I've been trying to sell my old box I used for a pair of SA 15's on craigslist for about half a year. I decided to put two and two together and run the DCON's in my old box. I recalculated the box specifications for the DCONS. It's 7 net cubes at ~32hz. From the SSA site it seems like the DCON's like bigger ported boxes than the SA's... If i find the box unsatisfying i'll just cutout most of my baffle, leaving some edge like a picture frame, and then adding more…

Ok the box was started today, but had to be started later in the afternoon because the installer/builders friend was in a car accident at 3 am yesterday so I told him to take his time and when he feels ready to start on his time. So this is the progress so far. I will be getting one more gallon of resin and order a roll of 19 oz glass mat for the bracing. I am going above the window line as you all can see. I will be triple baffling the face and doubling the MDF all the way around. This thing is a beast. With one baffle the height is about 24 inches, the width is 48 inches and the length is 52 inches. Big as hell I know. lol so get ready this box is about to be beastly. I…

I recently purchased a MB SL380 for my wife for her birthday just recently. The previous owner "upgraded" the stock radio but putting in a basic cd player about 10 years ago and decided not to replace the 4" speakers in the dash but rather install some 6X9 in the space behind the rear seats. The plan is to install a new retro sound headunit with bluetooth capabilities, replace the 4" speakers with some upgraded stock replacements, and install a SSA four channel amplifier to power the speakers. In the near future I would like to install a small subwoofer in the trunk for some lows, the 4" speakers are going to provide anything below 100hz. Pictures posted belo…
