Couldn't take not having bass any longer. Pulled the trigger on a B-stock Sundown X12D2 from EMF. Going to order a Shark Audio SHKAMP-2500D today from ebay for $99 shipped to power it with till I can get a better amp. Seen this as I was putting away the box. Explains the B-stock designation. I'm guessing they smudged the finish as seen here:

Just got this about a week ago. The paint needed some much needed love, so I took it over to my buddies body shop. Thinking of adding a single sub to the sub stage of this car. Opinions?

This is my 1st hands on build in ~15 yrs, so go easy on me.LOL the intro is a lil long- but wanted to get the story in. I always like readin how and why builds come about. My son/s and I will be tackling a 18" xcon install in my 01 Grand Vitara, referenced to as 'Zuk for short. I bought this lil SUV from a friend with the intentions to drive it for a bit- then hand it over to my oldest when he turns 16 (in about 16 months). I have always had a lil bump in my cars, so it was inevitable that it happen to the Zuk. Alway ran typical box store systems, Alpine, Kicker, Etc. Just started to learn about SSA, Fi, Crescedo, etc about a 6-7 months ago- when I bought my Suburb…

So here I am again, with my slow build. So what i have right now? Headunit: Blaupunkt mp52 - It's quite oldschool but does it work. Has a lot of settings and also 2x Aux in, 2x RCA outputs. Was used and got this with 35eur. In front dash i have Pioneer highs and in doors Pioneer 6,5" Mids. Running straight from HU at the moment. Total cost 45eur. On back i have Pioneer 5.1" Coaxial speakers, running straight from HU, Price 25eur. Riht now I am running old Kenwood 12" woofer from Toxic XT-1600 amp. Woofer 20eur, Amp 60eur. So this is budget build right now. I dont have pic from everything riht now. I will probably keep everything beside woofer. Maybe get Alpine T…

  8. Hey guys ~ Haven't posted on here in a little while and figured i'd show you all what I'v been up to. Business has been good and I was fortunate enough to be able to construct this enclosure designed by the owner(s) of Phantom Soundz! This was going under the seat of a 2001 sierra cab, with the subs downfiring. Lot's of work went into this Let me know what you think! Shoot me any PM's if any of you are interested in getting something built! Enjoy! Dustin

so as i said in my other post in the fab section, I got a little money for my birthday, so some of it went towards this: So, out with the old sealed: Here's the helper that I've enlisted: Now just to finalize the plans. Aiming for ~4 cubes at 34 Hz, Sub up still, port back. Still have some other left over MDF in the garage, so I should have enough wood now.

  10. So this will be my second build log on this forum. I don't think I took as many pictures this time either. But here we go, here is what was originally in the car. Had this Fi BL for over 4 years now, I say its a 2008 model but I am not really for sure. Surround is messed up but the main thing, the coil is still clean. Box was given to me, tuning was ~40hz (eww) with sub installed. Had running on the RF-T1500bdCP I bought until I put in the truck, had it slamming though. ^^^^^^Yes I love 5-minute amp racks!!!! It's in the next pic too with a new paint job. LOL Then I broke out my Memphis MC 1.1100, was still slamming, just wasn't getting LOW, like…

After my break in, the false floor was contorted and would be a disaster to fix. On the plus side, this gives me a chance to redesign the box fixing the problems with the first one. To save space, this box will be sealed. It will be 2.3 cu.ft., ployfil-filled, and passenger side facing. Tomorrow I plan to get the wood and cut the boards up. My dead line is Saturday, as I move back to school on Sunday. From the rear of the vehicle, looking into the cab. The small box represents the battery and will be secured somehow. The "floor" extension is to secure the box from sliding/falling. From the passenger side at floor level. I will be returning the floor to stock.…

You take 2 audio geeks, 2 cars with similar installs and 2 of the cheapest 10" speakers. Add some particle board, a huge port and try to lay the smack-down Here's how the box looks, 2 $20 subs, in a push-pull configuration. It's going to have to fit in the cargo area, initially designed for my car but my friend and I were both anxious to hear the thing before the wood glue cured and it's pretty awesome. The Honda will get a custom-fit box once I exhaust all the ideas in the Jeep. We even did 2 burps with a short port. Considering the end goal for the system is 142+ dB, how about some educated guesses on the actual score today?

  18. This topic is really for my new upcoming build which will be two Sundown Audio SA-12s on a Hifonics BRX 2400.1D sealed off from the trunk. The box is currently being built by Dave The Box Guy, it will have three different tunings with interchangeable ports (20Hz/28Hz/45Hz). For now, while I sit and wait, I am going to post my current set up just to show you all some of the work I have done so far. I don't have all the pictures since some things were done a little while ago such as, deadening, changing my door speakers, wiring etc. but I will eventually tear some things off and show you how I installed everything. Here it is.... Current build: Head unit: Kenwood K…

  19. When I started planning on this project 2 years ago, in the planning stages, I wanted 60+ and to bassrace 59.9, but since then I have taken it down a notch, wanting to build something that plays low ( Fla style), Loud and moves an absolute insane amount of air. What I started with Subs 8 DC Level 5 M1 Motors, with David from PSi working his magic on the rest. 8 18" recones 3 spider setup Amps - 4 SK2500.1s from Skar audio. The setup got down pretty good with these, but I needed more power, and less problems a single 300A Tenney that has yet to fail me A 4th order bandpass All Wiring and accessories were acquired from Audio Technix. over 100ft of OFC 1…

Im putting a system in my 2003 QC dodge pickup. Im putting in a 10" XCON and a Black Ice 1300.1 Amp which measures in at 16x8.25x2. I plan to raise the back seat a little over an inch with steel square tubing i have. I have 3/4" MDF, lifetime supply of 2oz cloth, liquid nail wood glue, and all of the odds and ends i need to build the setup, but im stuck on how i should shape the box/place the amp. I originally planned to do a setup just like this, until today when i remembered i had a split bench rear seat! And my rear seat..

I've have been getting requests to see what going on with the car since the big audio build, so here are a few pics. No 160 page build log. No 160 dbs. Just having some fun with the car. There will be a little audio but nothing really planned at the moment. Keep in mind this car has not seen daylight since World finals in Indy, 9 months ago. The last month or so I have been restoring the intetior back to new factory. No expense spared here. I wanted every little detail done nice. Carpet, seats, misc trim pieces, ect... Three weeks ago we welcomed our newest addition to the Mead family so a lot of time will be with the family and not in the garage. Now that that's out o…

Been putting this off for a while. I have been contemplating on doing a wall then I said nah i'll just trade the sub and back to keeping it and doing something with it. Well here goes a buncha wasted time later and I finally decided to kick off the build. I decided to stay street and try something different for once. I will reveal my complete box plans once it is in the car. Time for pics.
