Here I will finally submit my review for the products I have purchased thus far. I will list pros and cons for each with my most unbiased opinion. SSA ICON This was my first sub woofer purchased from SSA. I bought it used from Sean DeYoung with the AQ1200 to power it. It was in a box I believe that was 4cuft tuned to 32hz. The Sound Quality from this sub woofer was really amazing. To give it a better explanation it had a very distinct sound to it. It was very sharp, and accurate, like pin point accuracy and very quick/sharp. I believe that was its best attribute. But it was also really loud. With some early testing, I was able to do a 141 at the headrest off of a 3…

  2. Here we go, as I give the Sundown Audio SD-2 8" subwoofer the once over. This will be a three part series starting with pics and notes regarding shipping and construction. Secondly will be an install overview with pics. Lastly, I'll wrap things up with a listening review. Lets start off with some pics: How they arrive. Out of the box, and striking a pose. A little shout out. And lastly some interesting angles. Each sub come in double boxed in an exceptional styrofoam container. The sub is well supported and ready for the worst of shipping mishandling. A+ The woofer is well build. All glue joints are strong with a proper and complete bond. I took a closer …

  3. As you guys well know car audio is an ever changing hobby. You may decide to add an amp to your install, or a secondary battery, and there is nothing more frustrating than having to completely re-do your install just to add an additional electrical component. If you take the time to make fiberglass bezels or beauty panels for your wire distribution the thought of making a change to that distribution is terrifying, as you would then have to redo all of your work. Well now these worries are a thing of the past! Check out my video review of the Knukonceptz KNF60 distribution block. If you would like an additional product reviewed in the future let me know! Hi I have been a member here on the SSA forum for a couple months and I have to say THANK YOU to all of the SSA staff and forum mod/admin! I appreciate the patience with my noob questions I appreciate the level of professionalism displayed here (as opposed to somewhere else...) From my experience here so far, I have been convinced to get my next amp from the SSA store. Since I'm so noob I would feel confident knowing that I could come here for any potential tuning or install problems. So anyways thanks again and have a great day -tru two thumbs up!

Couldn't resist ordering some of this stuff. 1st thing I noticed was the weight. I just happen to have the exact same size piece in there kolossus flex and the weight difference is very noticeable. Possibly double! Unable to provide any raw technical info on the wire but it doesn't seem too bad for CCA. Cool color I wanted to use and extremely flexible so this wire is going to work just fine for me.

Alright so here it goes. As soon as I unpackaged them I saw the quality of these subs. Good solid construction, spiders, tinsel leads, everything seemed perfect. Currently, I am using two 15" Icons and tuned them really low at 27hz and wow, musical reproduction is amazing. Obviously, great output at the lower end and plays kick drums flawlessly. My girlfriend listens to some hardcore music, and these subwoofers easily sound the best and pick up on every note that should be played and dig down low on those bass drops. Overall, phenomenal subwoofers with both sound quality and output in mind. Id recommend these subs for anyone, the absolute best subwoofers iv owned …

I just wanted to give a little bit of a review on the new Rockford Fosgate pro audio. My doors are deadened with SDS and that's it, The speakers are installed off axis with the RF 8" mid and the RF Pro audio Tweeter up top. I am running them actively off of my Pioneer Premier DEH-880PRS, I am powering them with my Boss (zed built) Havoc-665 (100x4). The X-over points (roughly) for the mid is 50hz-5khz and Tweeter is around 5k and up. I played several different Genera's from rap to rock and electronic/dubstep music. I first started off by listening to Brown Eyes by Lady GaGa. The kick came through strongly with the piano coming in smoothly. The guitar made my back hairs …

  11. Kind of annoying really. The mounting of this amp is impossible with my drill because the screws go so far down in the hole Im gonna have to use a screwdriver The negative input to the tweeter had the wrong size connector for the crossover It was small while the crossover had all large outputs was too small to connect to crossover i was really hoping to not have any small issues when i went with RF

  12. Earlier this year I decided to purchase a Zed Leviathan. Having owned many of Zed Audio built amplifiers in the past, purchasing a new one was a no brainer. When I received the package from UPS, it was wrapped in heavy cardboard paper. Upon removing the paper, I found a plain white box. Opening the box everything was arranged nice and neatly inside. The amplifier was contained in plastic and protected by foam padding. Along with the amplifier comes the product manual on CD (most economical way since the manual is 70+ pages long) and a small bag containing allen wrenches, mounting feet, and screws. Taking the amplifier out of the plastic, its design is simplistic yet stun…

  13. UGH I misspelled "Torture" in the topic, wish I could fix it! Hello everyone. Over the weekend I did a review of techflex. For those of you who don't know techflex is an expandable sleeving that can be used to protect and group wiring. It comes in a variety of colors and sizes and can really help to clean up an install and make things look nice and clean. But does it protect the wire as well? Have a look at the video for the tests!

I don't have a lot to say about the wire, It does the job and is cheap. The jacket could use some work as we spoke. I wish the wire kept the individual strands more tightly packed to prevent mushrooming. The flexibility was not an issue, but Do I need to tie it in a knot? No flexibility is not a huge determining factor for wire. The price is good but it could use some work, I would pay slightly more for a better product (Knu) than skimp on a more inferior wire. This is purely in regards to the CCA not the OFC. Would I buy again? Maybe. Colemans customer service was good and let me know about my order.. But his business practices are still young and questionable and I hope…

I'll start this off with a list of equipment used: 4 12" SSA Gcon Sundown Audio SAZ-1500 Alpine 9887 6.9 ft^3 Net 35 hz tuning with 12.3in per cube with 3 6" flared PSP aero ports On with the review. I bought 4 12" Gcons the hour they were released, and have been using them everyday since having them show up at my door. Competitive burping, ground-pounding, demoing both spl and clarity, and I'm more than happy with my purchase. If you can see through the vlurred bision these subs cause you can literally watch your car shake apart! Gcon left, Fiday X right Turn the bass knob down to blend with the front stage to really show what bass can add to any music. The Gcons bass …

Of all companies i have dealt with in 10 years of competing this company definitely shines above the rest I am in no way talking down other companies in anyway. I bought a set of n3s with sp4 baskets about a year and a half ago, which i decided to destroy one by playing a note outside my passband. i was able to contact Shawn Fleming whom is my hero. he was able to build me a custom recone to fit my sub and ship it out in time for the biggest truck show of the year. Through weekends and late nights i mean late; 11 pm easily this man works, Saturday Sunday doesn't matter he works his ass off. This is beyond any customer service is ever willing to do, its a friendly well com…

  19. I just finished installing my SSA Carbon Fiber Convex Dust Cap and I am really impressed by the way it looks. I have not taking a listen yet, though I'm sure there won't be any audibel difference. Here are a few photos I have taken. Here is a overview of both caps side by side Here you can that the original cap is "taller". Not exactly sure how this will affect anything. In this picture, it is very hard to see, but I place the new cap over on top of the other, to show that the new cap's "flanged" is just a hair bit longer. In this photo, you can see some bubbles in the crease around the cap before the flange begins. In this photo, pretty hard to see, but really really…

A Mini RE Audio XXX 15 Review Ok well i have been lucky enough to have the chance to play with an origional RE Audio XXX 15. I once had this in the boot and passed on the opportunity to buy this exact driver and i now regret that but ill come back to that. First a little bit about the driver. This particular model dates back to 2005 and is radically different in design to the current generation of RE Audio XXX's. The current design uses a split coil while the first generation were a XBL motor design. While it is hard to find information on these drivers the first generation used an XBL^2 motor design. Following a fall out between RE Audio and Dan Wiggins (owner to the Pat…

  23. Alright so I have had my system in for a couple of months now and I have finally had some time to really get to know it. Now that the hype of having a new system is over I am starting to listen to my normal music and not just rap, so thats stuff like 311, Eve 6, and Modest Mouse. And i have to say is that, it sounds amazing for being a 15. It keeps up with the fastest drum kicks and its clean and crisp. I could not be happier with the SQ of this sub. Before i had 2 10's and those were amazing for rock but this is just as good if not better, I got the benefit of being much louder and having lower notes but did not give up any accuracy! Now for the SPL side of the Q. This …
