Is it possible for me to run my back door speakers directly off the head unit if I'm already using the rear RCAs for my front stage? I know some people don't like the rear speaker thing, but I have people in my truck all the time, plus I like it that way.

So i know hifonics isnt the best of companies, but ive heard mixed opinions about the 2008 brutus amp lineup as to whether or not it does rated power, I was wondering if anyone knows for sure what they output(specifically the 1608) or has any birth sheets/ done any bench testing. If not what do you think the bxi1608d does at 1 ohm and at 2 ohm, it claims 1600 at 1 and 1100 at 2...

Hey guys. So I am going to be running 2 Crunch GP3000D's here in the near future and I am wondering what the benefit of strapping the amps vs. running one amp to a pair of subs? My subs are/will be dual 1 ohm coils so I can wire each sub to 2ohm and let the amp take it to a 1 ohm final load or I can strap the amps and wire all the subs to 2ohm final load. IMO, It would be easier to wire the subs to 2ohm and then run wire from 2 subs in to one amp and repeat for the other subs and amp. Since I have never strapped amps, I am curious what the benefit would be and would it be worth the extra work to try and multiple wires to the sub terminals.

OK i have never really bought decent speakers other than subs in my cars, and now its time. i would like to get a sax-100.4 from sundown to run some speakers. this will be going in an 06 scion xB. so my options are 4" dash, 6.5" components in front doors, and 5 1/4" coax in the rear. what are some good quality speakers that wont break the bank but sound great with 100 watts. i was thinking alpine type r's but i dont know. Should i ditch the dash speakers? and upgrade the others? thanks

I,m looking at the saz 1500 or 2000 . but my cousin say s i would need electrical up grades with the 2000 and not the 1500. on another forum i read even the 1500 needs electrical upgrades. is this true and if so would it be major? Also i want to run one deep and loud 15 ported , I like hdc3 but aluminum coils need too much power. any other suggestions?

so i was sayin how the sub was making a knocking sound(bottoming out). so i decided to perform an experiment. i setup a -6db 50hz test tone put my radio at volume 35(70%) and i tuned the gain to put out 31.62 volts, which is 1000 watts. next i put in the removed the test tone cd and put the song that made the knocking sound in. looking at the volt meter some parts of the song would jump to over 40volts thats like 1600 watts, now i see why the sub was knocking, obviously that is a clipped signal. why is this happening? if i set my amp with a DMM with a test tone why am i getting a huge signal when i play a song. doesnt make sense and also makes the DMM method for setting g…

  8. Here is my set up HU - 880PRS Sub - IDQ12 (DVC) Front - HAT "L" 2 way (coming soon) I was thinking of running the 125.2 bridged 4-ohm to the IDQ (350w) 100.4 Channel 1 and 2 to run the tweeters in normal 4-ohm (90w) Channel 3 and 4 bridged 4-ohm into the 6.5" mids (320w) Can I run the 100.4 in regular and bridged mode at the same time? Does this set-up make sence?

Heres the scoop: I went to put my sub and amp in my car, and was having a hard time getting the box to fit, so I thought I better check everything out to make sure it worked, and the amp keeps going into a protection mode or something. Its a Memphis PR1000.1 I tried to contact the seller because he guaranteed not to be DOA but won't get a return. I guess thats what I get for buying off of ebay But anyways, I was wondering if people could give me some input on which would be a better amp for my Fi Q in a LSQ installation. Kicker ZX1000.1 Sundown SAE-1000D I can get them for about the same price. Any help? Thanks.

it got very cold around here and like many others i just bought two new batteries for my truck, these are just factory but AGM upgraded. now in an audio system lets assume i have enough wiring to transmit power with negligible losses from under hood to back seat. if i have two batteries at 1150CCA up front and put an older battery in back on the amp rack (say a 900CCA agm) will i run into issues with having a less than new battery back there? lets say the battery tests out at 80% of its rated cca (so still a decently good battery i think), when the amps pull power will it have a similar effect as a cap can have in that the alternator is now trying to charge the batter…

  13. i was hoping M5 (or someone else) might know of a place locally that does a mix of electrical work. i had a customer drop off a large LED sign board that runs off 220V mains with seriesed 110V inverters into about 88 separate micro controller boards that run off 24/12/5.6V and control small segments of RGB led's. the panel blows breakers upon power up. its beyond the scope of work that we do at my shop and wanted to give the customer and idea of maybe where to go.

I have ordered 2 Fi BL 12's Dual 2 ohm coils, with the Pchamfer, Flatwind, and daily option. The box is being built this week. I'm deciding on an amp to power them. Currently I have a Kenwood 9152D (supposed to be 900 RMS @ 2 ohms and 900 RMS @ 1 Ohm) So I thought perhaps getting another 9152 and strapping them together but that would under power the subs cause I know i'm not hitting 14.4 volts The 3 amps I've narrowed my interest to are Kicker ZX2500.1 (2500 RMS @ 2 ohms) supposed to be underrated MTX TA92001 (2000 RMS @ 2 ohms, 3000 RMS @ 1 ohm) dunno if this one is underrated? SSA 3000D (1600 RMS @ 2 ohms, 3000 RMS @ 1 ohm The Kicker gives me the perfect amount of powe…

i just heard something weird from a tech at Hifonics. the reason i am not getting sound is because i have "stereo input RCAs" or something of that nature not "mono" ones... so now i have to buy a splitter that will connect to one of my old RCA cables that will be split in to two for the two inputs on the amp... if that makes any sense.... i find this weird because on my old RF amp it has matching colors for each of my old RCA cables which made it so i didnt need to buy a splitter... is this normal? i thought it would be straight forward red to white but i guessed wrong...or so i hope!

I have an Orion 2500d and 2 Rl-p 15s ported to 31 hz in 5 cubes. Its really loud, but it seems like the subs arent really working that hard/moving that far. Like when I play low notes like Lil Scrappy "No Problems" my whole car shakes but when I watch the subs they barely move. I am running a stock alternator and I think that is a big problem because my amp isnt putting out anywhere near full power. Would a 160 amp alt. be enough or should I save for a 200 or 220 amp alt. I think Im going deaf too. How much improvement am I going to see with an alt.?

Hello all, well as I stated in my opening post I competed years ago in SPL and as I am building a new setup running four identical amps for my subs, I was curious what else there is to link them for good synchronization? Please do not debate with me or anyone about syncing either my post is only for the purposes of finding out what people are running to link there amps whether it be custom or store bought, I have used both. I have seen people using the maxx link from hifonics but I can't seem to find them as they must be discontinued??? Thanks for all your answers and if you would like to debate this please start another post

I want to buy and install an amplifier for a new sound system for a car. I'd like the amplifier to not clip, and I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit of dynamics for extra loudness when I want it. In the world of music production we regularly obtain these goals with an effect called a brickwall limiter. It's basically a special type of compressor that guarantees that the sound never passes a certain threshold. Do they make car audio amplifiers with brickwall limiters (or at least compressors) inside them?

So i currently have an aq2200 and i am wanting to get more power. So i was thinking about selling or trading my current amp for either a crescendo bc3500 or an aq3500. But i was thinking maybe i should just buy another aq2200 and strap them. Only thing is i have no clue on how to do this and would not want to mess things up. Is it hard to strap amps and would it be worth to strap them?
