SSA I am looking for a 4 channel amplifier to power a pair of components so that I can add rear deck speaker or go active at a later time. The two main amps I am looking at are the SKAR Audio LP-80.4 and RE Audio USX-4250. Is there any knowledge of if these amps put out what they are rated at in clean power? Are there better amps for around $175? Thanks, hayestc

I'm swapping out my clarion 785usb for a nexus 7 tablet (source) with a pair of 2x4 mini dsp for processing. This set up is a 3way + sub. What i would like to do is set the tablet volume to max and then run a volume control potentiometer to control the master volume out of the source (tablet). Additionally, i would like to control the subwoofer level semi-independently. What i mean is that the master volume would control all the channel (including the subwoofer) but a secondary volume control will be used between the minidsp and subwoofer amplifier. So this is something like what i was planning to use, http://www.amazon.com/Axxess-AALC-Remote-Level-Controller/dp/B003FPD…

i have noticed that the new amps have no way of letting you know where you are setting the Freq at... i.e older PPi amps have notched pod switches, so you could count the clicks to let you know what freq: you were setting to !!! if i set the SSF to 24 clicks ( counter clockwise ) i knew it would play no lower than 23Hz and if i set the LP filter to 18 clicks ( counter clockwise ) i would play no higher than 122Hz now they use cheep generic pod switchs, and nothing printed to give the user a clue as to were you are on the freq: graph... WTF happened ? are they saving that much money using the cheeper pod switch ?

for some reason the amp for my subs is getting incredibly hot . I dont understand why though as the gains were set correctly and no bass boost has been engaged. I found out that the plexi glass that i had placed over the amp was making things worse so i took that off ... it is still getting pretty hot however ... i do not know if it is getting adiquate cooling as it is under a false floor but because i took the plexi off it over 3/4s of the amp is revealed ... my 4 channel amp seems to stay cool but the mono is getting hot ... they are both power series amps (t8004 and t40001bd) ... what is the remedy and is there any ways to keep the amp cool?

Alright guys. Here is the deal. I have been looking at amps and i honestly am looking at the new apx3500's. They seem good but i haven't heard much about them. I checked a lot of forums but most of them just talk about how they hope the new apx's are as good as the ap's. Now when i hear that, i ask myself, what exactly is the difference between the two? Right now i have 2 18 inch DC level 4's with level 5 soft parts and i know that 2 3500's is too much to push them with but i am going to upgrade to some SSA zcons. If anyone has any comments to this that would be awesome! I have looked around and i am not just asking because i am too lazy to try and find the answer myself,…

Has anyone here ever owned or had experience with a Powerbass amp? I was looking at this and it looks to be a little powerhouse and they're claiming to be super efficient which would be a real plus since I'm looking to keep my stock alt. Any feedback is appreciated.

i am trying to decide whether to purchase a Rockford t1500-1bdCP or an AudioQue AQ2200.1D amplifier. for me the rockford would be $130 more, and i was just wondering if that is worth it or if i should stick with the AudioQue and have more power. and how much difference does the constant power technology make in the Rockford? a comparison of the two amps would be nice.

I set my sub amp gains with my hu eq flat. It sounds ok, but I seem to be wanting a little more. Is it bad or potentially harmful to tune the eq on my head unit with the amp gains set as is, or is it wise to reset the gains after messing with the eq? I learned my lesson the hard way about bass boost by frying my last sub. My sub and amp are matched as far as RMS goes, so I dont want to take any chances and risk damaging my sub. Advice? And how reliable/accurate is the clipping light on an amp sub remote?

I have an 06 KIA SPECTRA SX and it has an 80 amp alternator. I have a High Output alternator told by Dave DC Electric it is 160 amp but got it tested at the local alternator shop over here and they told me it does 150 amp but can pull up to 200 amp. I have noticed a lot of people have High Output alternators and two batteries. One up front and one in the rear for the audio system as they say. Why do they have two batteries and high output alternator if you doing a SQ build? Also anyone knows the magic formula on how to calculate how much amperage I need my alternator to be. Someone told me add all the amps that amplifiers combine and that is how much amperage you nee…

well guys, i may finally have a buyer for my alt. so i have been looking into some alternators for my new truck. i can either get a mechman 270 BNIB for $250 (never ran or mounted before) or a mike singer 260 for $250 thats 4 months old. which do you guys think would suit me better. im still running 1 ssa zcon 15 on my AQ3500.1 @ 2ohm (2600watts) and in the future (in the next year or so) id like to add a second zcon. i will be purchasing a extra battery or two ( shuriken BT-80's) and im running all 0 gaughe with a 250amp fuse under the hood and 2 200amp fuses in the distribution block at the amp.

I need to cross my tweets around 4k hz, mid range around 500-4000 and midbass around 50-1500 Not exactly sure on the crossover points yet, but its a rough idea of what i'd start with before I get into fine tuning it. I'm either going to use sundown SAX 100.4 for the tweets and mid range and SAX 125.2 for the midbass drivers WITHOUT AN EXTERNAL PROCESSOR, or buy cheaper amps without the crossover features and get an external processing unit with crossovers on it. Which do you guys think is a better option? any suggestions on cheaper, quality amps that lack the crossover features (maybe I'll go for 3 sax 50.4's and bridge each of them ) Any suggestions on a budget processo…

now that i got my subs and box done, its time to look for an amp. not looking to spend too much on an amp right now. would like to send 600 rms to each sa12. trying to stay under $300, ive been looking around the web and found a couple that i might be interested in. but i wont get it unless you guys say its a good buy. this one i just came across, not sure about the brand though http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7635-bamf-20001d-power-acoustik-monoblock-2000-watt-class-d-amplifier.aspx heard soundstream was pretty legit, so i found this one http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9571-dtr11700d-soundstream-1700w-d-tower-series-class-d-monoblock-power-amplifier.aspx read on Steve Mead Desig…

I'm looking to power a tc9 with a dual 1.4 ohm FI Q recone. instead of looking to see how much boom i can get, i'm looking for a little better sound and will be udating with the rest of my system, i'm just starting with the sub and amp. the audison is 900 rms at 1 ohm and the dls is about 1200 rms at 1 ohm. both are about the same price. I've come here because i know the experience seems to be concentrated here. lol. also on the list of keeping the boom up is the md3d and saz-1500d. so some people with experience please give me a little insight. thanks very much i apreciate it.

I normally like to try to figure things out by my own but I'm not sure how to solve this problem. My front speakers are making high frequency noises that get higher as my RPM increases ever since installing a different amplifier. This is what I've done to try to isolate the problem/ information that may help: 1) Amplifier = JBL gtq200 2) speakers = Boston Acoustic pro60se 3) Before putting the speakers on the JBL, they worked fine for months. 4) I used the same set of RCA's on both the JBL and my other speaker amp (Pioneer). The Pioneer did not recreate the whine. 5) Also used a different set of RCA's on the JBL which did nothing to lessen the whine. 6) More gain on amp =…

Phoenix Gold was dying a slow death under Rodin owner ship. AAMP of America recently bought PG, and a few old PG employee's are back to bring it back to where it once was. Here are a few pictures I found on the Phorum of the new entry level line of amps: I dig them. There are plans for a high end line and bigger power then the last few generations of amplifiers that were watered down for the Best Buy masses.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the newer version audiopipe amps. I've used the ap1500's before and they performed well. Usually recommend them for friends. I can't seem to find them anymore. All I see is 'APCL' and 'APSM' series. Looking for a decent ~1000-1500@1 ohm amp for my cousin on a budget.
