I'm getting some 8 gauge wire for speaker wire for my BL 15 that's coming, and my friend's dad, (who is an electrician), said that there were some rather flexible jumper cables available at Menard's that would suit my needs. Now I've always been told wire is wire and copper is copper, but some of the 4 gauge welding wire I was looking at is rated for 90 amps and these cables are rated for 400 amps... I'm serious, it says right on the package 400 amps for these 8 gauge cables... Is that O.K? I'm pretty new to this electrical voodoo, so if anyone could say ya or ney it would be greatly appreciated.

I planned on putting 4 strobe lights inside my wall (sealed off from box shinning through a plexi window). I wanted to know if it is possible to hook up a music interface to these and if so where can I find one?

Guys, I watched a video of ***** ***** talking about **** amps , and they look awesome . Also they boast some big numbers. 1000 watt amp that pushes out 1600 and 2500 that puts out well over 3000. Has anyone used them ,or can vouch for these numbers? Any info will be appreciated.

  5. The car is a Mercedes CLK55 2001, I have 2 amps 1 is 300 watts(150x2@4ohm), one is 1300 watts (1x1300@1ohm). For a total of 1600 watts. I have a Kinetik Power HC1800 as a second battery witch is to NOT let the lights dim if the system is under 1800 watts, unfortunately it does dim in the cabin and the amp for my front speakers sorta cuts out at loud volumes. once when i went from drive to reverse it didn't engauge and i had to put it in drive lower my system and put it in reverse, this has only happened once and i was beating really hard (i have not tried this again nor do i want to). I had a lexus 2002 ES300 before this and i did not have this problem, same setup. The 2n…

  6. Unfortunately, the sundown 3000w install was whack because the head unit's preouts were going crazy so the amp couldnt be turned up high enough for an accurate comparison. I will post spec of the amp anyway but shouldnt be compared 100% accurately because the volume level wasn't the same as the other 2. In an Alero, what kind of alt will I need to run a 4000W amp @ 1ohm with 4-600W for components? How many runs of 1.0 wouldn't be overkill? Will one battery stayed charged and properly power 4500ish watts? Big 3 of course. Thanks.

Hey guys, just wondering how difficult it is to disable the illumination of the logo on these amps. I don't have one, otherwise It'd be open by now. Also, is it only the logo that lights up? I know the 08 series there's LED's as well around the border of the faceplate.

I have an older Rockford 1100@2 amp with a remote gain bass knob. The cable for the knob has long since disapeared. I have used a telephone cord in the past but not sure if I am getting all of the gain. The knob has 6 wires for the pot, whereas, the phone cord only has 4 wires in the connector. The knob is rated 0-18 db slope at 45 hertz. Any help is appreciated

First question, Im thinking about making my own D-Block out of some bolts and nuts and what not, I have a run of 4 gauge from the battery, is it necessary to step down from 4 gauge to 8 gauge leaving the D-Block? The runs after the block are a foot at the most. Second question, what fusing should I use at the D-Block? I know 150 amp is recommended for 4 gauge but idk if theres a difference if its being distributed.

Here is the situation, I am looking into buying some 100wrms component speakers. I found this amp (Alpine MRH-F255) in my friends trunk and he said I could have it. After searching the internet i found out that it is running 35X4rms along with a subwoofer channel. Does anyone know how I would go about bridging this amp into a 2 channel (if its even possible). This amp is running a wire harness for its speaker outputs and so I have absolutely no idea on how I would bridge it... And if I cant bridge it, would 35 watts sound better than just the head unit to power the speakers (most likely Alpine spr-17s or sps-600c)? My second question is if i do deside to use the amp, I kn…

my mind keeps changing ever day while i'm trying to save on what amp to get. i know its going to be a sundown. but which one? i was leaning toward the 4500. but the used 3000's looked nice. now the 3500 seem to be offering a little more. so after looking, the 3500's do not have any fuses. i really dont like fuses because when i did, it kept blowing (it was a low amp like maybe 50 or so for the whole system, 3 1000w amps and a yellow top, after the stock battery). so i upgraded it to a 250amp monster fuse, worked perfect. i have seemed to have lost my fuse so someone said "Get a circuit breaker instead". just wondering whats your ideas on Fuses and on Circuit breakers.

4 years ago or so I got a SWEET deal on 6 Optima Red Tops. I can't find the guy and I don't remember what company he's from. Ring any bells for anyone? Anyway most people don't run Optima, why not? I'm assuming because more hours of sotrage can be had for less? I like the idea of dry/gel cells so that I can mount them any way I want inside the vehicle and no hydrogen gas released from charging. Anyone know if this guy is still around? What other options should I consider? Thanks! Krypto

why was i told that the 4 gauge wire that i am using for my sub is not only overkill but bad for it due to too much resistance? I have not heard of this theory before, is there something that would support this train of thought? thanks chop

My amp is mounted in the middle of my trunk and today i had to take everything out to install some more spl tiles i got in the mail, when i put everything back in and opened my trunk, a drop or 2 of water (it has been raining the past 3 days in st louis) fell onto the circuit board of my t2k...it fell in right by the phase switch. After that when i turned the car on, the sub (FI BTL) was making a awful low scratching noise, at first i figured it was the rca's to close to a power wire, messed around with the rca's which helped a little. I finally figured out it had to have been the water when i unplugged the RCA's and it continued making the noise until i unplugged the s…

i got a pos pioneer gm-5300t 2ch amp for my gfs car as a temp. amp while my mtx 7801 she was using is being repaired, when i got the pioneer one of the speaker output terminals was messed up and it keeps blowing fuses after playing it for a while, so i opened it up and removed the speaker terminals and soldiered 16ga wire to the board (the way all amps should be imo) and i bypassed the fuseing by soldiering a piece of 12ga wire across all the soldier points on the board for the fuses and i am going to run an 80amp external fuse, anyways i noticed a switch on the board that said bfc on the bottom and spl on the top and it was switched to bfc im curious to what this is and …

  18. just got this idea sitting in econ today listening to my awful TA talk about derived demand for labor... I know normally the alt isn't used for transient loads, but would it be at all possible to hook up a power wire to the alt and send it straight to the amp, using a high capacity cap somewhere along the way to stiffen the voltage during amp draws? I was thinking that in this scenario, the cap would be acting just like a battery
