So I went to a local car audio shop today to see if I could use their DMM. I wanted to get voltage and amp readings to see what my amp was really doing. Of course, first thing he has to be a funny guy and ask me if i need new subs because I replaced the ones I bought from him with a BTL. He lets me use his occilloscope and I take my first reading with car off at batt. 15.5 VOLTS!!! Uh...Wtf? So then Im scared to even start the truck and see what it says then. 18.3 VOLTS!!! SHIT!!! ok so i have an Alpine CDA-9886 as my headunit. and ofcourse i have the ipod hook up so i can use my ipod and iphone. as any one with an ipod or iphone would know that it has the EQ option to use bass boost so what my question is. am i alright to leave the bass boost on the ipod or iphone? or is that still a bad idea. i'm well aware that any type of bass boost or loudness settings on the headunit or amp is mostly all of the time a no no but i've never really been sure about this. it might be different for the ipod settings since it's i guess you can say, "controlled by the headunit" or something of that wording, so those settings might cancel out. but i'm not sure. it's …

OK, here is scenario- Got a 20A relay on remote turn on wire with 3 amps and some leds on it. The 15A fuse on the relay popped today... that means it drew WAY too much current... i have a short somewhere... I check- 3 wires were pulled out of the remote turn on distro block that was reading ground.... 1 of these wires is an LED wire. The other 2 wires go to my sundown 100.4 and the other wire goes to both AQ3500Ds remote turn on... The LED wire reads 0.0 ohms and the turn on wires for all 3 amps are reading 0.2 ohms.... Is the remote turn on's grounded? Did the led wire cause a massive surge through all the remote turn ons?

I currently have a 12" fi ssd (800 rms) with an alpine pdx 1.600 (600-700 rms), and I'm thinking of upgrading to 2 fi ssd 12"s with the new saz-1200d. I'm willing to upgrade from 4 to 1/0 wire, and I already have a yellow top, but will the stock alt in an 03 passat be able to keep up without terrible voltage drop?

Hello I have an 86 Crown Vic with a currently fried stock 65 amp alt. I replaced the stock one with a stock replacement junkyard alt about three weeks ago. And it went out again yesterday. I plan on upgrading in the future but for now i plan on doing the big three when i have the chance, Im hoping that will help my alt last a little longer. Im running a kicker 300.1 now to 1 sub. In the future i want to upgrade my system. I was looking at this alt:http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MCI-N7755-11HO/ and was wondering if that alternator would be enough to support maybe 1000-1500 wrms? Thanks for the help.

Currently i only have a need for an alternator in the low 200's (i'm looking at one at 220) for an 18" Fi BTL. My question is as follows; Is there any harm in buying an alternator that produces more amps then you need?? For example, i will probably put in another BTL in the future and i would like to just buy one 350 alternator now. So if i put a 350 or 320 alternator in my car, which only needs about 220 amps, would it cause any harm to my vehicle? Would it cause harm to my battery? Amplifier? On a side note, any of you fellas try out the Kinetic HC 3800??? Thanks!

I know Lanzar is nothing close to sundown audio..... and I would definitely love to buy a 100.4 to add to my small collection, but this is going into an old mud riding truck.... and will likely be in less than optimal environments. Basically.... don't want to spend a ton of money to see my sundown amp go up in smoke. I've only seen 1 lanzar amp in person, powering 2 kicker comps. ok heres the thing im putting in a center console with a tape player in my s-10. i removed the tape player so i can put my bass knob and a toggle switch where it should be. im gonna have plexiglass fill the hole and i wanna put a green led behind it and wire it to the hvac or anywhere in there so it comes on when the lights are on can anyone help me with this on any part. how to put the led back there so it lights the plexiglass and wire it so it comes on with the lights. its a 2002 s-10 xtreme,

Alright guys..i have an Eclipse TI series 12" running in my truck. Right now i have a kenwood kac7202 with 4gauge wiring and a 1F capacitor. The amp doesnt put out enough power..so Should i buy a mono block amp or 2 channel and bridge it? And what amps do you recoment for this sub? my budget is not huge so take it easy on me lol.. Any help it all getting more sound outa this thing will be aprreciated!

There are so many choices when it comes to batteries. A lot of batteries have a high ah rate, but how about discharge rate. I have read a lot of people talking about DEKA batteries, but which models? Kinetik, Powermaster, Odyssey, Stinger, Xstatic? Which ones would you guys recommend for a sundown 3500d, used mainly for daily, but some competitions? I have a Mean Green alternator, not sure about actual amps on that though. Hard to find a good HO alternator for my 99 Durango.

Hello i recently purchased 2 of the power acoustics 55001d amps to power 4 SSAicon 15's. turns out the amps are complete garbage and i wish i never got them. anyways i'm sending one back to either get store credit or sell both on craigslist to purchase one of the 2 models of hifonics ( heard they are better then they used to be) and for the price i cant beat it. 1 amps per 2 subs. so my question is the subs are approx 1000w rms and the BXi 2010d should be baseline for the subs. but is it worth the extra $120 per amp worth it for the extra 600w (BXi 2610d)? also if anybody has firsthand experiance with these amps your feedback is greatful.

Im thinking about preordering the SAE1200D to replace my Kx1200.1. Is Sundown a better made amp? Could i please get pros and cons of Sundown amps. I also heard that Sundowns draw less amps then Kickers is that true

I have a question, I was rolling down the highway when one of my friends in my backseat heard sparks shooting from the battery (which was when I looked back to see my battery posts red hot and melted. I have the Kinetik HC1800 in the back, and just a stock Interstate battery in the front along with the Big 3 in 1/0 wiring. What would be the cause of this major problem??? And yes I did stop in the middle of the road to fan out the smoke in the back :( PS Ill get pictures of the demolished battery if you would like

So I picked up a pair of Hertz Hsk165's and need some help with choosing an amp. Amp will be ran off of a kenwood 8120. I have about 400 to spend... but I wouldn't mind spending less. Hi i'm looking for an amp for an Fi BTL 18" fully loaded. I was wondering what the best amp would be for it? I'm not going to be driving around all day with my system turned up all the way, i just want a nice reliable amp that can handle the subs pretty easily that's not like $1200 Thanks

What do you guys think the best amp would be for my SSD 15 - Copper Coil - DVC 2 Ohm I was looking at the hifonics brutus 1209d - (1200 rms @ 1 ohm ) - $174 shipped The owner of an audio shop down the road from me said that he had a planet audio amp for $200 that puts out 900 rms @ 1 ohm. Thats my two options right now that i'm looking at. I don't really need anything above 1k RMS because its not really needed for my SSD Right?? Ive Blown 2 Plate Amps in Less Than 2 Weeks! How Could This Be? They Were Working Fine But noticed they were getting extremely hot to the touch (couldn't keep hand on for 3 sec.) Before they went i notcied my btl was getting distorted 10 sec later the amp cutt of and no LED indicator was on. This Means The Amp Went Right? What Could Have Caused This Im Wondering. Like the title says I am looking to put 2 12" FI Q's in my 05 ford focus. Ive never built a box but plan on trying to build this one haha. Any recommendation anyone has that would power these 2 well would be great. I currently have a 12 w3v3 hooked up to a TMA 500.1 amp (think thats right). The new box can be either ported or sealed, as i don't mind going across the entire width of the trunk, i will however need to leave the first foot and a half or so of the trunk open for my golf bag( plus room for flex? or mount up?).
