Sup folks, I have a friend that is trying to figure out a way to make a mini ipod work with his stock cd player. THis is what he is trying to do and figure out. Can you tell me if its possible and if so how do you do it? "I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra SE with the factory head unit (CD/TAPE/CHANGER CONTROLLER DOUBLE DIN) and it doesn't have any inputs on the back other than a 12 pin connector for a cd changer (which I don't have). I'm trying to make an auxillary input out of the cd changer input so I can wire my iPod directly into the reciever for higher quality. In theory this should be possible assuming there is a way to get the reciever to switch over to the cd changer i…

I'm installing my AudioControl DQXS and setting up my active system. As a total newbie to this active stuff, I'm crossing one huddle at a time. The first thing is a major, and I mean major noise issue. So bad that it sounds like a test tone being played when the system is at 0 volume. With the vehicle running or not, it only changes in tone. I finished up late tonight and have not been able to do much troubleshooting. I did play with the internal (jumper) ground settings on the DQXS without any success. I was in a bit of rush when I wired it so here's what I did. I daisy chained the power to the DQXS off one of the amps. A 4 gauge wire from the battery to the amp to the …

What do you guys think about these kinds of head units? I was looking at getting the pioneer MVH-p8200 which features wise is pucking badass but what about performance wise? I see it only has 2v pre outs. I haven't seen another digital media reciever with anything higher.

I'm looking into maybe getting an active crossover. I've found Audiocontrol and that seems to be a bit of a fan favorite on here. I was just wondering if anyone else reputable makes them? I can find tons of boss, pyramid, etc but no names that i recognize. (this will be for mids/tweets, sub isn't necessary)

  8. Ok, heres the deal. I have my Orion 4004 underneath my 2500D and it gets hot. How hot? Very hot. Hot enough to burn your hand. Hot enough to send it into protection after listening to it for 30 minutes. The components are bridged on it at 4 ohms. Many people have told me that it shouldn't be getting this hot. I think tomorrow I'm going to rewire it to only use 2 channels which will suck as far as power goes. I may also try to throw my planet audio vx3002 on it and see if it does the same thing. I have heard some things about orions not liking high input voltage but the gains are set about halfway. One other thing I am having problems with is at higher volumes (30/40) my …

i was wondering if maybe there is some kind of really easy way that works well for tuning an amp. the instruction booklet shows most settings for things like sub eq, subsonic, and frequency as set to halfway is this something that i should do with it right out of the box or should i try and tweak the knobs to some other directions. if anyone knows of a easy way to make the settings easy to set and sound fine it would help me a lot. thanks

Am I able to use a DMM to see if the rear channel on my 4 channel amp is working? I've wired it several different ways and i've yet to get anything from the rear side. I'm assuming that there wouldn't be a reading if the channel wasn't working, but I really don't have a clue.

Everything working fine until just a second ago. Move the amp and battery around a little (Shuriken BT100 and RD 1750.1D) because they move when I drive which I hate and am looking to fix somehow...but pretty much all I did was increase the subsonic filter a little from like 20 to 23hz, turned the car on and no power to the sub........amp light is on no protection. Checked power connections and everything is fine. Fuse rating for the amp is 4x40amp but I'm assuming they are inside the amp as I cannot see them on the exterior. My only thought at this point is that when a small piece of wire protruding from the amp ground to the amp power that it zapped a fuse? I saw a spa…

  20. How much stronger would the 2 aq2200d @ 1 ohm strapped be compare to 1 aq3500d old one @ 1 ohm on 2 dd3512? Running a 180 amp alternator with 2 kinetik 2400 and 1 kinetik 1400 in the back. Would this even be enough to run the 2 aq2200d? This would be a daily driver.

Well, the used Orion 8004 crapped on me and after trying to pinpoint where the issue was, I decided to scrap it. Noticed the Zapco i-450.4 selling at a local shop for $190USD (on EBay). I know it is a new line, but I'm curious if anyone has used one, or can tell me if the price is decent. Looks to be about what I'm after - 4 channel @75watts RMS, has all the xover bells and whistles which I won't need. Using it for complete active setup. Thanks, Mark

I have a mtx 421d am with a 8inch American bass sub, I need some help on how to tune the amp and what songs you guys recommend. It hits hard with low bass music but with bands or other k8nda bass it doesn't hit right or it won t hit.

I have a small Merlin us amp for my mids in my s10 pick up. Whenever I listen to the radio for even less then 5 minutes when my truck is not started it completely drains the battery to the point where it has to be jumped. I had purchased a new battery and still have the same problem, so I had the battery and altenator tested and they are fine. Nothing else drains the battery except listening to the radio for a very short period of time. What could be the problem, any suggestions? Please help

I'll be powering a 12" xcon off a saz 1500d and mli65/not sure about tweeters on a sax 100.4d in a 96 volvo 850 glt. The stock alternator is a Bosch 90amp, and I'll be replacing the stock battery with a Kinetik 1400 (already purchased). I'll probably be putting a kinetik 2400 in the back as well. But will this be enough? I have 235k miles on the car, so not sure if I want to get a heavy duty alt. Also, which charger should I be using: 45, 60, or 80 amp? Posting here since it's 10pm and likely won't get an answer from kinetik soon (holidays), but I did email them anyway.

  25. Ok Im going to have a 220A alternator, two D3100 powermasters batts for the amp, and Im getting 2 AA Mayhem 12s D2 voice coils. Would I be better with the 4500D or 3500D on a 12V system? And is there such thing as wire gauge overkill? Say I run a 3/0 run from my alt to my trunk and its about a 20' stretch. Would it be fine using the 3/0? And when I wire the subs I want to use 4ga wire because the amount of power and I want to be 100% sure the wire is letting as much current through as possible. So would using an excessive AWG of wire cause any 'damage' or reduction in power, or would it not matter?
