i have a hifonics bxi1600, and i know no one likes them very much but im hoping you can answer some of my questions. my friend just got a 15" BL daul 2 ohm and after awhile i amp will turn off for about a minute but it is still lit up just very dim. i am runninh 4 gauge wire and i want to know if maybe it is because my amp isnt getting enough power and i should go for 2 gauge wire thanks

So i've been looking at upgrading head units because I am getting some new components and I have an alpine now and use it all the time with my iPod. I currently have a 9881. So I am thinking of sticking with the Alpine line-up and I was going to go with the 9887 for sure, but now I've seen the 9884 and it seems to have a lot of awesome features. Whats the big differences here? My currents needs I guess are: Imprint technology good equalizer( im not sure if parametric or graphic is better for me. Hooking up a second battery is something I've never done. Do I run a wire from the starter battery to the secondary battery. Or do i run a wire from my alternator to the secondary battery. What kind of fuse do I use? More than 1 on each end? Thanks

what can a dual 1 ohm 18''btl fully loaded handel. can it handle a 1ohm stable amp ,0.5 ohm stable amp? i know it works with a 2ohm stable im confused . in other words how can i wire my dual 1 ohm subs to run at 1ohm or lower. and is it safe?

My system was finally working right all together. I was on my way to my apartment (3 hr drive), so I had turned the bass really low so it wouldn't knock my radar detector off the glass. I was just driving along and heard a loud bass hit all of a sudden. It was really weird, kuz the bass was pretty much to where I couldn't even hear it and I guess I didn't notice kuz i had turned it down alot. So the bass hit really hard, then stopped. It did this about 2-3 times, just really odd sounds and extremely loud...like not going with the music that was playing and far far louder than I had the bass turned up. I'll be needing some RCA to run from my HU to my amp. I have some that I got from parts express, but they seem pretty cheaply made.

I have a unit I bought a couple years ago that I'm going to try and do a warranty exchange on. I think I paid a little over $200 for it. I could add another $200 on top of that, so $400 total. What does BB sell that is actually good? High voltage outputs (at least 4v) and ipod connection are extremely important.

I know this may sound kind of odd, but is there any way that i can run a car amp out of my room wall socket? I was thinking maybe something like a 12v DC adapter from some random thing, but i don't want to fry my amp. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, Mike B.

Hey guys, I recently got my 1/0 gauge wire in the mail the other day, I am prepping it up with the clamps and getting the right sizes, and I look on the website and I see that I need a fused wire. I looked at the big 3 post and it says I should get the factory sized fuse. Can I get some pictures or some detailed information about the setup involved into this? I looked into the Big 3 post and nothing is explained into detail.....Only what it is. Any information would greatly help. Thanks, -Curt

what would be the perfect amp to use with an 18'' btl, i do not want to over power it. its a dual 1 ohm

whats up yall. in my system i have us amps 400, esx q404, two ssd12's, a duralast battery upfront and an optima red top in back. for fuse i only have the one in between the two batteries and it is 80a. thats the only one the local car shop had left at the time of install. my question is should i go ahead and order a bigger fuse? does it really matter? and should i have another fuse somewhere in my setup? the esx is internally fused and the us amps has very good internal protection. anybody with thoughts on this?

i have all hyperflex 0 awg, i have a fuse between the alt and battery, at the beginning of and at the end of the run that connects the yellow top to the kinetiks, and from the kinetiks to the amp rack, which also has a anl fused distro. all fuses are 300amp except the 100amp that goes to the clarion amps. will this cause a substantial voltage drop?

Ok well i got rid of the D3, and got a CDA-9887. LOL, bid difference i know. But before i've even done any sound setup or tweaking my subs instantly sounded better after they were turned on. But DAMN there are alot of sound options. I tried for 10 mins just to setup the HPF so i can take the bass out of the front and rear speakers to no avail. Needless to say at this point i feel kinda dumb. But i've been really busy today so i haven't had a chance to read the manual. I knew this deck had alot of options but man this is rediculous. Do not purchase these amps from the ebay seller riversidetrade they are defective. They were never supposed to be released to the public. The heat sink is to small causing them to overheat and fail. Looking at a 100.4 sundown going active up front... 6-1/2" midbass and 1" tweet in the doors... Deciding which of the 2 units will give me better control with going active... And also which of the two is just "better" overall... though i feel it's not really important mentioning but the subs is powered by a saz3000D on 2 BL 12" I also have a 300amp iraggi alt and a yellowtop upfront and a kinetik hc24000 in the rear... Anyone have experience with these HU's let me know please...

I did a few searches and found some similiar topics, but I couldn't find any that pertained to my situation. Currently, I have a modern alpine model, just a cheaper one. The 9881 I believe. I like the set-up of it a lot and use its iPod control almost exclusively over CD's. I am looking to upgrade though for some more options for tuning. These are the two big ones that seem to be somewhat similiar, but have a few different options. I will definetely need the head unit to have good iPod control.
