Hi there. I'm trying to figure out the safest, most cost-effective way to wire two amps, particularly, the remote-turn-on wires. I have seen a lot of stuff saying just wire both wires to the H-U remote turn on, while others say it can burn out the H-U. I'll be using 2 300w RMS amps if it makes any difference...

i just did the big 3 on my car and the question is the power coming from the alternator to the battery do i need to put a fuse there or not? i left the stock wire intact from the alt to the bat because if i cut it i wouldn't be able to see if my alt is failing or not since it wouldn't be going through the fuse box!! now if i put a big fuse between the wire and still have the other stock fuse in the fuse box there will it mess up anything? or should i just leave it like it is?

Hi guys, I have an older Orion 8004 (circa 2003) that has a rather odd wiring setup. I'm not sure, but I think the remote turn-on power is the connector on the far left - with the one bank of speaker connectors. Notice the power connectors on the other side. Can someone please confirm this for me? Thanks, Mark

Can someone tell me a little about the total harmonic distortion value on amps as far as what the max acceptable level should be & what I should look for on one? I have seen most mid range amps at around 0.02 to 0.05. Is this something I need to concern myself with or is the difference going to so little I won't even notice? Thanks

Here's my new nightmare problem. I have to completely re-build my H/O alternator for my 2005 Ford Ranger XLT. This is a 3.0 V6 2WD and a Iraggi 260 amp H/O Ford 3G Large Case alternator. Due to a limited budget I am pressed to do this myself instead of sending it off for repair. I will be re-building it with a H/O 240 amp re-build kit. Here's some pics of my progress so far. I still need to order the kit so I have to wait to re-build it and test the final results. Here's the rear bearing and slip ring: Rotor assembly has a broken lead: The rectifier this part usually goes bad. It has diodes that take the AC power produced from the Rotor & Stotor and turns it into…

I'm running two atomic 5000.1's with 5 C&D Batteries (93ah maxrate ones) with 0awg all over and a 280a XS Power alternator. Now I can say straight off my power supply isnt adequate for all day booming but for short bursts (15 odd mins) its fine. Add to that I'm in the UK and our cars are tiny compared to your guys in the states so space is always an issue. Now my question is my batteries rest at 12.4-6 which seems very low to me ? I have a Ctek 25000 and was wondering should I give the recondition mode a try ? Any one got any general advice as hardly anyone runs these batteries in the UK.

Due to some unforeseen circumstances (dealing with a disreputable online retailer) it appears like I will shortly be in possession of 2 amps instead of one. I had just wanted a 2 channel amp to power my Phoenix Gold RSD65cs components and then I was going to determine whether or not to add rear fill or a sub with another amp down the road. But now, I have an MB Quart DSC280 (80x2 at 4ohm) and a Planet Audio RX4.400 (100x4 at 4ohm) to be delivered this week. My wife is less than impressed with this turn of events and says I can only keep one and will have to sell the other. My first question is, assuming I follow orders, which amp do I keep. I'm pretty sure the MB Quart …

i was gonna put this in the for sale/wanted section but i didnt know how well that would go over with mods. so im looking to upgrade to a good headunit. i just traded the pioneer i had it wasnt anything special just plain jane with sub outputs. im wanting one with a motorized face and graphics. i dont really care if it has usb or aux in as i dont ever use them. i used to have a deh-p680mp that i absolutely loved. im not really interested in the newest "look" unless its the style with the bigger volume knob like a 6000ub. im also open to a possible kenwood or jvc arsenal if it looks good and the price is right so if anyone has any head units collecting dust let me know…

So my kenwood kdc deck is acting up and I feel like I don't know where to start.. Ok so the other day my head unit would just randomly turn off and then back and on and back off again. It would work for the most part then yesterday I was stopped at the bank and it shut off and didn't come back on.. So tonight I re-did some of the wiring behind the head unit but still nothing. I'm thinking its either a bad ground or a loose wire somewhere.. It will come on for a good 5-10 seconds and then I move it and it shuts off. Any help is greatly appreciated.

so the other day im driving down the road and my right front speaker cuts out. so i get pissed and try to beat some sense into the door panel but to no avail. i had the problem narrowed down to the wiring harness, but when i checked all of the wires were in perfect condition. and now both of my right speakers dont work. i was told that the internal amp in the HU might have gone bad and i would really like to be able to listen to my music. any thoughts?

Hey all.I just got my high output alternator and I'm wanting to do the big 3 upgrade but I have a couple of questions first.I'm going to use the knukoncepts kolliousis flex 1/0 wire to do it and I was wondering about how many feet of wire I would need to do it. My car is a 1977 oldsmobile delta 88 with a 403 engine if that helps any. Also could someone post a good article on how exactly to do it please? Thanks a ton. HawkEye

I'm wondering the best thing I can do to help my situation. It's been ridiculously hot here in San Antonio this summer and my SAE-1200D just isn't taking the heat well at all. My Cadence TXA1000D never had a problem but I guess with the extra power this SAE has the heat is causing trouble. The amp gets VERY hot to the touch and after a while goes into protect. At first I thought I had a problem with the subs cause they would make a strange noise before shutting off but it cuts out even when my HU is paused so I don't think I have a subwoofer problem. Maybe mount something like 2 120mm fans on the bottom of the amp? How would I hook those up? Just wire them to the power/gr…

Ok first you need. 1.ps2 or other gaming system. 2. monitor 3. power converter 4. some supplies from radio shack. Video--- Ok so we all know the ps2 has male rca's right. So my monitor in particular has one male rca that is for the video in. So i had to go to radio shack and get a double sided female rca connector to get the screen to work. So thats how the video is hooked up. Sound-- This can be tricky depending on your radio. Some radios have an auxilary input for tvs and such, so if you have this just connect the red and white rcas to you radios auxilry input. Mine doesn't I have a tape player and I also have a portable cd player, so i have the tape that plays the cd …

Ok, so i get a call from my friend asking if i could fix his other friends mess up of trying to put in his H/U. I go over hoping he didnt do some of my earlier mistakes, which he did, he cut the factory harness trying to hardwire it...... i gave him 3 options: 1: try to rewire his factory harness which could be a while since its a GM 2: wire the H/U itself skipping the factory harness 3: trace each wire and figure them out, yet again skipping the harness and wiring everything to the back of the H/U We decided 2 would be the easiest solution *98 s10 ext.* and i was wondering if my plan was good and if he was going to lose any basic functions.... I'll wire the ground to a …

I've been searching around for some 3/0 lugs for my electrical upgrade. I really prefer using the split barrel over the solid like most of what you see. Like this: I found some on amazon for $2 each. I know I can use the solid barrel but they all seem so damn bulky. Well, not that 3/0 isn't bulky anyway but I'm not trying to have a huge stack of crap on all my connections either. Nor am I trying to spend $100 on some terminals. Anyone have any good reliable sources to look at? Any suggestions? I'm not totally against using the solid barrel lugs if they are fairly compact. Usually I use something like the Knu terminals and call it a day but they don't offe…
