Well I recently (2 weeks ago) purchased a Brand New Volkswagen GTI and it just turned 1000miles so it's time to play (I told myself that I'd at least drive it for 1k miles before tearing it apart.) Anyhow, I'm looking into processors, line level converters, ect.. I'd like to keep the factory deck, It's a in dash 6 disc with aux in and Sirius so I'd like to keep it for now (I've never ran a stock so this will be a new adventure) What I'm looking to do is just get some better sound.. I'll probably throw a five channel amp in there with a single 10 and leave the stock mids intact for now . Currently the stock setup sounds terrible... I've never heard a factory set sound so …

anyone have any luck switching to a smaller alternator pulley? Were there any noticeable gains in output?

i was looking for some good batts to match up with a audiopipe 3000 and a 200 amp alt. i was checkin out the kinetiks on ebay they seem to be good for the price. im not to sure about some other brands out there really just kinetik and xs power is all i know of . i am on a budget as i only make min wage. 200-280 is all i want to spend on batteries

ok i have 2 rd audio 3250.1 strapped @ 2 ohms the slave amp almost always go into protect only the slave turn the ing off startr it back up its fine till i go full tilt again thought it was the rca but done changed them 4 times anyone?

Okay, so my problem is that my brothers HU only has one RCA output that is currently running to the amp he had on his subs, well now we are hooking up another 4-channel amp for his 4 6.5's he has in his car now. So i need another 2 RCA outputs somewhere to go to the 4-channel amp. *Can I just get 2 RCA line output converter's and tap one into one of the 6.5's in the rear and one of the 6.5's in the front?? He doesnt want to upgrade his HU right now. Any input is always appreciated. Thanks

I did not know where to put this but since it concerns using head units, I thought this would be the best fit section. So first of all some background info.... I have a 1999 Volvo S70 (dont hate) and currently I have a alpine cda-9886 headunit. My car is a double-din so i have the headunit in the bottom slot and a pocket in the top slot. I also have 15% tint all the way around, which I know isn't the darkest but its pretty dark at night, especially backing up....however, i was thinking about redoing the tint and getting 5% all around and 50% on the windshield so I know that this will be even harder to see at night. before i was deciding whether or not to go darker but my …

I have a pair of Alpine Type-R's dual 4 ohm version. I currently have them parallel to a 2 ohm load at the amp. I fear as though my amp sucks (i know this for a fact its a Volfenhag). i got 2 amps (soon to be 3) and one of those things with the flashy light... i think they call it a cap.... forget what the does... but anyways. ive always heard that you should ground to the same location but its getting harder to mount all the components close enough that i can reach a common ground location. amps: kenwood excelon (600rms for the sub), kicker 250.2, (adding second 2 channel or 4 channel amp after xmas) Questions? 1) can i ground to different locations? if so how? 2) does the ground wire have to be like 18" long or less? can it be more? if i use a ground distro is there a max length in this application? 3) do you need more info on the install?

I have an 02 Escort with the stock Alt. and Big 3 in 1/0 gauge. I'm getting an Fi SSD 15" D2 and a US Amps XT1600.2 very soon. First off is this a good match? I have been doing research for months on both items and am pretty set on booth (for price, performance and appearance). I also have an Alpine 3553 and 3527 which together only really produce around 200-240WRMS so add that to the XT and I'll probably see between 7-900wrms. Does that seem like to much for mostly stock electrical? Should I add a second batt.? I really don't want to have to.

I have a jl 500/1 gains are supposed to be set at 31.6 v ac. I have tried two different decks at 3/4 volume with bass flat and with the gain turned all the way down Im getting 40 volts using 50hz signal at 0db. the sub 12w6 sounds loud with the test cd but barely audible with music. Is there anything obvious to look for? thanks Todd

Basically i can tarde my Crunch GP3000D PLUS $400 cash for a Stetsom 7KD in almost perfect condition. Only problem is a slightly bend mounting tab. Right now I have a DVC 2 ohm 12" BTL to the GP3000D and want a nice, clean efficient amp. Next summer I plan to do a wall in my accord with 2 1ohm 18" BTLs to maybe this 7kd if the trade goes well. So for the time being, I will run the BTL off of the 7kd at 4ohms and still be running around 2500 rms. What do you all think about this trade one my end?

Or is one tube for positive and the other negative? so like instead of two wires running to my amp I will have one then at the amp I will split it into two by separating the 2 chambers?

I hooked my amplifier after having it sit in my room for a couple months up to my car today and the protection light came on for a split second, then the green light came on after 15 secs or so of no light at all. It was hella wierd. I tryed it again, and now the red light blinks for a split second but then no lights at all. I can hear the amp turn on, but it has no light or power. I opened it up and didnt see any physical problems with the board (blown fuses, smell, etc...) Any ideas what it might be? Im positive it has nothing to do with RCA's or speaker wire. I am looking for a replacement of my eclipse double din. I think I was getting some dc back feeding through my preouts and now they are dead. The unit is old enough not to have it fixed. So like the topic says I am having a tuff time picking out a Double din Hu. I would like three sets of outputs navigation is not a must and a nice looking screen I would like something of good quality that is my main concern. Mainstream is not a requierment, nice quality and a good value are. thanks for the help Matt

What should I set the phase to on my mono amp if my 4ch. has no phase adj.

I am just curious since i always here people say that they notice a difference in sound at lower impedance, if 2 ohms will make a noticeable difference in my setup. I currently (and temporarily) am running an MTX 81000d which is rated at 1000w into 2 ohm load. I modified it to run at lower impedance but don't really plan on it. Do you think that there will be a major discernible difference between me running it at 2 or 4 ohms? Will it be as dramatic as an am with rated minimum impedance of 1 ohm running at 1 vs. 4. Just curious because where mine is rated at 2 minimum, i didn't know if it would have the same adverse effect as minimum impedance on something capable of lowe…

ok, for setting gains with the DMM method, do i use 0dB tones, or can i get away with using, say -6dB or -3dB tones? I've heard recommendations for using as much as -6dB tone (that seems a little much to me) so i guess what I'm asking is how loud does most music get? does it regularly hit 0dB, or more like -3, -6, etc?
