I hooked my amplifier after having it sit in my room for a couple months up to my car today and the protection light came on for a split second, then the green light came on after 15 secs or so of no light at all. It was hella wierd. I tryed it again, and now the red light blinks for a split second but then no lights at all. I can hear the amp turn on, but it has no light or power. I opened it up and didnt see any physical problems with the board (blown fuses, smell, etc...) Any ideas what it might be? Im positive it has nothing to do with RCA's or speaker wire. I know for a fact it is something to do with the Amplifier. Its a Power Acoustik 1.4000D Please no smart comm…

sooooo heres how the story goes. i got an amp a while ago, the crunch gp 2500d, and then i bought some subs, like the aq sdc 2.5s, but take a little more power (called TF X's if anyone is interested) both dual 4's wired down to 1 ohm at the amp. anyways, i'm underpowering them by a few hundred watts, and i'm looking for a replacement. in my searching i as offered an earthquake ph-d3 for a bit less than 300 rom a friend of mine, but i think he used to use it for spl comps a few years ago. anyways, the amp works great, and at 1 ohm does 3000 rms, so i figure if i'm easy with the gain i'll get the output i need, or i can match my current output at 4 ohms with 1300 rms. m…

I have about 30 1990's amplifiers. Mostly Precision Power. I want to test the amplifiers both for functionality and for max unclipped output. I will record the data on a spreadsheet. I will also record by video. Method : Power supply - 12v car battery Source - Ipod Load - (2) 200w 8ohm non-inductive resistors Oscilloscope - DSO Nano panel meter for measuring power supply voltage Amplifier output, resistor, DSO Nano, and volt meter connections "Switched" turn-on Positive and negative blocks Wattage will be calculated using P=E^2/R. Resistance of the dummy load will be measured before and after the test. Are there any faults in my testing method? First amp tested i…

Ok, I recently bought a blown sax 100.4 relatively cheap. I did not need it, but wanted to see if I can fix it. I know it needs new rca inputs as one is broken, but I believe it needs a mosfet (that is my guess I have yet to do any testing). Before I go any further where can I purchase amplifier parts from knowing that they are quality parts and exactly what I need. Again this is just something I have wanted to take a crack at for awhile and a lot of people probably think this is stupid, but I am hard headed and like to tear things apart and rebuild them. Lol

Recently my sub hasn't been giving me the same output as usual. I figured it was because of the cold but the output never really changed once it warmed up. So idk whats wrong but basically its at half the volume it used to be. I thought maybe I messed something up on the sub itself but the voice coil wasn't burnt, and there there was no mechanical noise. Basically everything looked fine. I checked the rcas and they were fine, so was all the other wiring. I redid everything on the amp just in case. The wiring on the sub was fine because I haven't touched it in months. Head unit setting are normal, nothing changed. Any thoughts? Gain is also at 3/4. Never once played my su…

I had the Addictive Audio 10.4 (115x4 @ 4 ohms) screwed into the box playing the 2 Selenium 6W4Ps active fine for a while. I started getting a static sound from the speakers, when I noticed that nearly all (7 out of 8) screws that hold the casing of the amplifier to the internals had stripped out and was barely hanging on for dear life. I took the amp off the box and took it inside to have a look, and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. That being said, I have no idea what I'm looking at, but there were no loose wires, no solder points that had failed, etc. I gave it another try and set it on the floor of the truck beside the AQ2200D, wired it all up, played fine for…

I've got two grl5500's that I picked up cheap and used for awhile while I was doing upgrades. Problem I ran into is that when I upgraded my alt. I made a noob mistake of not upgrading my fuse to rear battery. I know Duh! Adw I didn't catch it and everything was fine until my rear batteries voltage just gave out. After doing all the proper wiring upgrades, which I should have done first, I charged the battery made sure it was fine then proceeded to hook amps back up. They powered up but produced no sound. Not for sure what to do. I've since got my sundown in, but would have liked to recoup some money on these. Any ideas on what could be the problem or just write it up as a…

I forgot to rewire the BTL to 4ohm when I swapped it with my 15's in the HT, and while I was doing so, I began to wonder, if my amp is only 4ohm stable, how does it function exactly, under 4ohm? (I had it wired at 1ohm for the Neer) For example, if you sweep the box, and you measure your entire playable range, and it never exceeds the rated RMS of the amp, say you're wired at one quarter rated minimum like me, and you have it set conservatively, and safe, does that prevent premature failure that low impedance is known for? Is that how people run amps at .25 daily and shit since it's only passing the rated amount of power through? I always assumed they did that for comp…

Howdy, I've ordered 1 fully loaded BTL12, Dual 1 ohm for daily use. I was eyeballing a Soundstream XXX 4000D to power the thing. In talking to an installer, they have suggested that the amp wouldn't work efficiently with the BTL Sub. They are currently trying to sell me on securing two 2000D's from soundstream and running one sub per voice coil. Looking around, this doesn't seem to be the best course of action eitehr. Any thoughts? This install will be in a 2009 Dodge Challenger RT. I'll be going with an Eclipse Navigation head unit. Stock stereo is the six speaker Boston Acoustics setup with a 270 watt amp for mids and highs.

I need an amplifier suggestion for my 2 18 XCON D1's. As I said in the title I'm on a budget but not on a ridiculous one. I know I'm gonna have to spend money, I just would really like to stay under 800. So far I've been keeping my eye on the forums for a used Sundown 3000 or 3500 and I've also been lookin at the AQ3500 and the Crescendo BC3500 (if they ever come out). I'm not opposed to under powering them either but I don't wanna go under 2500 rms. So far my set-up is gonna consist of: Yellow top under the hood Second Battery in the back H/O Alt Polk MM6501 - Front comps RF 6.5 - Back coaxs RF t600-4 - For door and back seat speakers 2 x 18" XCON D1's in a 9 cu sealed e…

I need an amplifier to power my D1 12" Xcon. It was running off of my Rf T-1000bd at around ~750 watts and it sounded absolutely eargasmic... and then I shorted my amplifier. So now I have two choices: Fix the T1000 for $175 and stay at ~750 watt or buy something along the lines of this http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/hifonicsbrz17001d.aspx It may seem obvious to go with the Hifonics because of the obvious difference in power, but it seems like Hifonics isn't the most recommended brand. 1200w @ 2 ohm for $190 just seems to good to be true. What would you recommend I do? If you have any other amplifier suggestions then feel free to throw them out there. I rea…

So here's a quick overview of my setup as it sits: amplifier - older Lanzar Vibe 420 (http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=2393) Front components - Polk db6501 (Brand New, http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9109_Polk-Audio-db6501.html?SearchClickout[query_id]=10352811&SearchClickout[ignore]=1) rear subwoofer (bridged on amp channels 3/4) - older Kenwood 10", 150 wRMS, single 4 ohm, in a 1.36 cu ft ported box remote turn-on module - (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18693_PAC-TR-4.html?SearchClickout[query_id]=10352736&SearchClickout[ignore]=1) So for some reason, even with the turn on module providing a 2 second delay, I still get a lot of "thump." …

Hi, I want to know how exactly can I measure the exact amount of RMS wattage output my amplifier is delivering to the subwoofer, reason asking is because my amplifier is too powerful for my current subwoofer and I will limit my amplifier to the maximum Rms power handling of my subwoofer, Thank you.

Ive got a class D Mono amp that keeps shutting off while playing music. before It used to do it if there was a weak signal but now its starting to do it no matter what. I have to turn off the HU then turn it back on to get the amp working again. In the last vehicle it was in the remote wire was connected to a fuse under the dash and the wire's insulation rubbed off somewhere. the wire touched metal on the vehicle and burned out the wire. for a while the amp wouldnt even play any music but then started workign again. btw, that happened almost exactly a year ago... had the amp for 1 1/2 years & i bass it everyday

I have been reading around on some build logs and people are saying that they have an amplifier that is "clamped". What does this mean? I have been googling around with no luck (so far).

Here's what I have to work with: ^thats the lame part. amps are 9.45" tall, while the cushion template is only ~7.5" What I'm thinking about doing. Please excuse my paint work The front is gonna have plexi to show the middle of the amp, but not the outer edges/wiring inputs. Gonna put a blue cathode above each amp inside the amp enclosure, out of sight. Might cover with vinyl, but I'm not sure cuz I suck at wrapping corners. Any other suggestion that'll look nice are welcomed Seem like a good idea? Any suggestions? Also, I need strong, thin wood so the rack wont protrude so much. What kind would u suggest?
