I set my sub amp gains with my hu eq flat. It sounds ok, but I seem to be wanting a little more. Is it bad or potentially harmful to tune the eq on my head unit with the amp gains set as is, or is it wise to reset the gains after messing with the eq? I learned my lesson the hard way about bass boost by frying my last sub. My sub and amp are matched as far as RMS goes, so I dont want to take any chances and risk damaging my sub. Advice? And how reliable/accurate is the clipping light on an amp sub remote?

So I need to buy a battery for my 2012 Fusion. I wanted to buy the XS XP3000 but I came across these batts on ****. I can get 2 of these for the price of 1 XP3000. Which would you guys choose? The Discovers are 2.5 years old they say but are in excellent working order. I have a 150A alt in it already. I have 2 Crescendo BC2000s and a kicker ZR1000 (which wont be used past like 200 rms). http://www.****/forum/wiring-electrical-other-installation-equipment/140850-7-discover-g31-ups-batteries.html This is the thread for them. Please check it out and let me know what I should do.

My amp blew today:( so now i'm in the market for a new amp asap! I figured i'm just going to re do all the electrical because i was just using two o reilly batterys (not the best idea, i know) I'm running the 2 sa15s still in my Jimmy. I'm thinking I might run 2 xs power d1200's (unless you guys have other suggestions) I'm not really positive on my battery budget until I get the amp bought. I'm trying to keep my amp budget right around $500. Thanks guys!

A pair of 4-ohm DVC GCONs are on the way. I'd like to think that up to $300 could get me into a decent quality 1-ohm stable amp to drive these. I have a run of 1/0 OFC to power this. I know what the numbers say, but you guys know the real world on what I could/should use to power these. Prefer to buy something used/taken care of; I think I can get more for my money that way. Looking around, some options that I *think* would be good are Soundstream (Reference), Audioque, Sundown Audio, Crescendo...probably a bunch of others. Just looking for some guidance. If it's been hashed out already, please point me there while I search!

I just bought a couple of SA E10's with Dual 4ohm coils and they will be going in a sealed enclosure. What class D amp would you recommend for around $100? I prefer this route so there are no electrical issues with my son's older car. I also have the option of running some old school amps (Lanzar Opti 100-1ohm stable, Lanzar Plus 100-1/2 ohm stable, Lanzar 240-2 ohm stable) I don't like the idea of using my old amps because I don't want them stolen as they are not easily replaceable. Another option is a new Boston GT2200 or a GT2125. I can buy a new 2125 for under $100 but don't know if it will run these E10's well. the GT2200 is more than I want to spend for him and not…

So I just placed an order for the new Crescendo Mezzo components and I was wondering how to wire them up once I receive them. I have a 2 channel Kicker ZR1000 (I got it for $30 and it works perfect ) that I will use to power them. The only problem is that I'm not sure what to put the crossover module at. The options are bypass, lowpass and hipass. I used the hipass for the coaxials, but I'm not sure if that would be used for the components, since it has the crossover box. Also, I'm going to keep my stock head unit. I have 2 Crescendo BC2ks (strapped) and the kicker ZR1000. What should I use to connect the RCAs up to? For my friend's cars, they have a little blue box fro…

I inserted my DD-1 disc into the KDC-X494 in my boat to set levels, and the CD won't eject. I press the eject button but it acts like I'm not pressing anything. Doesn't display eject or make any attempt to when I press it. It just ignores my pushing of the button. I tried pressing the reset button under the face, but no help. Any ideas? Is is a common Kenwood issue? How do I get my disc back!?

  19. I would like to start using my phone with my deck as I have spotify and it works really well and I get unlimited music for $10 a month. I have been using an iPod Touch since the interface is so nice on the deck. It really is too bad there aren't any Android compatible DVD decks as I am not a fan of apple at all. So...what do you guys think is the best way to hookup my android phone to get the best possible sound quality? To be honest I will most likely stick with using my iPod, but eventually I would like to get away from that for future use.

Just getting into car audio so be kind. I have 2 dvc rockford fosgate hx2 10's (500rms) Sealed 1.5cf box. I know these amps are overkill but eventually I will be upgrading my subs. Ive narrowed it down to 3 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23550_Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ2400.1D.html on my local clist theres a used aq2200 for $300 Sundown Audio SAZ1500D V1s for $275 Id consider the crescendo 2000 but its on backorder.. I'll also be doing the big 3 upgrade. I can add a second alternator and battery if needed, but i dont 'think' ill need to get that serious yet. Right now im more concerned with sound quality (I listen to alot of rock) than I am with brute force. But i think…

I will also record by video. Method : Power supply - 12v car battery Source - Ipod Load - (2) 200w 8ohm non-inductive resistors Oscilloscope - DSO Nano panel meter for measuring power supply voltage Amplifier output, resistor, DSO Nano, and volt meter connections "Switched" turn-on Positive and negative blocks Wattage will be calculated using P=E^2/R. Resistance of the dummy load will be measured before and after the test. Are there any faults in my testing method? First amp tested i…

  22. I just bought a brand new sound ordnance 4 channel amp and am still waiting for a new set of speakers for my car. in the meantime I decided to test out a pair of some old alpine type r 6.5s I pulled out of my old car. they don't fit so I put them in a hasty cardboard box to put in the backseat. after installing the amp and hooking up the speakers as rears with the rcas and unplugging my rear stock speakers the alpine hooked up to the amp weren't playing at all. I remember these speakers were working perfectly before and have just been sitting in my house since. I made sure everything was wired properly, the amp turns on, protection light doesn't go on or anything and I ju…

So in my next build I'm going to be running around 3500 watts probably a bc3500. For my current electrical setup i have a dc 270xp alt the big 3 and a d5100r in the front. Voltage @ idle is 15.2v. If i run 2 runs of ofc 0ga to a deka 9a31 in the back then one 2ft run of 0ga from the batt to amp is it going to be enough to to keep me above 13v for the most part or will i need a second 9a31 in the back. I plan on getting a second one later on anyway but would it be necessary? Thanks.

Going to be running an alpine pdx-f6 (60amp fuses), and alpine pcx-m6 (80amp fuses). Would 0ga just be over kill? These are going in the rear of a crew cab colorado and splitting at a distribution block. So it will be ether 0ga in and 2 4ga out or 4ga in and 2 4ga out. Thanks

Hey guys, i'm a new member here and I was looking to get a little bit of help with my car audio setup. I recently bought a Skar Audio VVX 12" 4ohm DVC sub off SSA here and have it hooked up to a kicker zx1000.1 in a 1.6 cu. ft. ported box tuned to 32 hz. It slams pretty nice, shakes the hell out of my car and blurs my vision so I'm pretty satisfied with it. However, I'm pretty much running it on my stock electrical (I have a 2006 Pontiav Wave btw). My alternator is rated at 100A and my battery is rated at 550CCA and 55Ah. My headlights and my dashboard dim heavily even while driving but especially when stopped. I wouldn't normally care about this but on certain songs when…
