Alright so im not going to buy the crimpers for one time use... i was at homedepot and picked up plumbers solder... ik everyone says use electrical solder... whats the difference? And will the plumbers solder be good enough?... im using 1 guage to a 1300rms amp.

I currently have a stock alt thats 70amps... but im putting in a 1300rms amp and a 70rms 2channel... i was wondering if i could get a cheap alt so i wouldnt have to worry about my voltage. I have all stock electrical, and stock battery no big 3... big 3 is going to happen very soon. But after that id like to upgrade alt... how much would this cost me for a 06 tundra. V8 4.7L

I ordered 1 guage wire and it should be in soon. I have 8guage running to my 2channel now that was drilled through my firewall. Is there any other ways to get such a large wire through? Id rather not put that big of a hole in my vehicle. What are my options? As always all help is very much appreciated

YO, I am getting ready to set up a dual alt in my 2001 chevy astro van but the last few days alone it has been 90+ degrees so i am very indifferent about getting rid of my A/C if anyone knows of anyone that was able to keep A/C and run multiple alts please share. I am willing to get rid of my belt driven fan and go electric as well as add cold air intake to free up space in front of the belt and pulley area if anyone knows a way to Fab up something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, so yesterday I was warming the car up for an oil change and started beating on the system a bit. I noticed one woofer not moving quite as much as the other. So today I took all the speaker wire out of the amps (2 bc3500's strapped) and each woofer is reading 4 ohms??? It's supposed to be wired to 1 ohm per woofer 2 ohm strapped. I don't know what I did wrong. I'm not sure if there is a different way to check impedence if the amps are strapped.? I notices the master amp gets slightly warm and the slave is cold. Ok. So I put the zcon's and the 2500d in. Now when I set the gain using the dd1 till I can get ahold of my friend with the oscope, the voltage goes down to 12.5. I have a mechman 270, big 3 in 0 gauge, ran the pos and neg from front to rear batt in 0 gauge, installed fuse in front, fuse in rear, soldered all connections. Rear batt is a diehard platinum 31m marine agm with 205 reserve, but yet when I turn volume up to around 30 out of 35, amp goes into protect mode and volts drop to 12.5. (Radio was o scoped at 40hz and 1k hz and had no clipping evident)Even at 1500 rpm. Am I missing something or is the saz2500d drawing that much amperage? Also speaker wire was 14 gauge. A…

Well im planning to buy either 1awg or 2 awg power wire from wire and supply to power my ppi black ice 1300.1d. I have all stock electrical.. but i need a fuse inbetween my battery and amp. What sizedo i get? The amp has 4 35amp fuses... does that mean get a 130 or so fuse? And should i get the anl fuse or the round one?... and is that wire the right size? Or should i be going with 4awg? Or like 1/0...

could i go wire straight from the alternator to the battery in the rear? the alt would also still be wired to the front battery as well. the car im installing is an 2000 honda accord. would i need to fuse after the alternator and before the batery in the rear? in my head this would work but ive never done it this way before...

Im a noob here but have been around car audio most of my adult life, lookin for a good option to power two sundown e-15 d4 in my sons ride. Have looked into many brands( hifonics,audiopipe,mb quart,American bass). Needs to be close to $200 to stay in his budget,must be power friendly to run off of a yellow top, stock alt, big three done, and four gauge power and ground. I have owned or heard all the amps listed above except the American bass, so I need options and am open to all advise. Thanks

in the back of my truck is not the learning experience I quite thought it would be. Until the Fox acoustic box gets here, my rear seat is out and my Great Dane takes pleasure in stepping on the cables. Uncle Mur4phy must have told him to stand right on the connectors because all four are broken.To top it off, he's crapped twice on the sub amp and pushes off anything I cover it up with. Back to the RCA's, those 22gauge wires are too small to hold and solder at the same time. What can I use to hold the jack while soldering? Mind you this has to be done in the back cab of my truck.

So maybe some one here has done 2 alts can help me. just came back from my mechanics shop and was told that adding second alt would not work, i asked why and was told he could install but could not turn alt on, said i needed a wire harness to hook up to trucks computer. I thought the belt turned the alt on and i could wire to rear batt bank. Can anyone with this type of knowledge please help me out? (air con being swapped for stock alt to go with my Mechman 270a alt)

I see a lot of stuff being sold used on forums and ebay. Is there any general rule to follow on how much they should be worth compared to new? Anything to watch out for as far as life span?( Would you buy one 10 years old) Which go the distance?

I ordered a ssd15 and it should be coming in in about a week. What amp should i choose? I have been looking at the soundstream rubicon 1600d, the powerbass xax1200d, and the lanzar opti1400d. These are all on amazon for under $230 with shipping. Its weird how the least powerful is the most expencive and the most powerfull is the least expencive. But something about the lanzar has been grabbing my attention. If there are any other amplifiers in this like class and price range could you help me out and give a reccomendation?

What do you guys use to crimp the larger power and ground wires. I don't have a need for the crimper that big much but got by with using the vise. Any other methods?

I need some new battery terminals for the optima red top under the hood. I currently have some nice tsunami terminals. They have 2 0 gauge inputs and 2 8gauhe inputs. Id like terminals with 3 or 4 0 gauge inputs and 2 8 gauge inputs. Can some hook me up? Help is much appreciated Fellas!

OK long story short. I bought a crescendo c1100.4 everything runs fine when the car is off, I can turn it up loud as ever it sounds clean. When I start the car after a while the amp goes into protect. I sent it back to crescendo they tell me nothing is wrong. When I got the amp back I did step by step problem testing, I changed the RCA's hooked them up one by one, changed speaker wires, changed to soldered grounds and power tips, and I even changed my head unit. The same problem happens, I did a test to see how long it would play when the car is off and it STAYS on and plays loud and nice for a loooooong time. According to PowerBass 3XL product info, a Class D amplifier heats a subwoofer voice coil 2 to 3 times hotter and faster than a class a/b amplifier. Is there any truth to this? Is there a way to find out how much room is left in the alternator output after running the vehicle? I am just wondering if this would be a way to see or prevent power drops and messing up the car/truck electronics.

cant afford car audio batts till end of summer but have 4 batts with 1100 cranking amps and 5 with 800 cranking amps with 270a ho alt , are all these enough for 2 bc3500s strapped to 2 ohms. big 3 and 3 runs pos and 3 neg front to back all 0 gauge

What are the advantages or disadvantages of swapping air conditioiner for second alt ?

Yesterday while I was driving, my amps cut off and today I found out is was my saz1500 causing a short in my remote wire. I pulled it out and looked at the inside and it looks to be some solder in between my remote and ground terminal touching. I've email dbr but I probably won't get a response today because it's Sunday. I was thinking I could just remove the solder but my question is what would cause this to happen and would it happen again?
