    Just out of curiousity, for those that are running batteries in the trunk, how many are running them without some kind of isolator? Are you seeing any issues? For those that are running an isolator, what are you running and where can you find them? What kind would you recommend, if any? I am thinking of running a Yellow Top in the trunk, or possibly a Kinetik. If I went with Kinetik, which battery do you recommend (besides the 2400 which I think would be a little extreme for a daily driver, but maybe not)? Thanks in advance.

    i have 2 batteries up front right now and plan to add some more wattage to my system. i am thinking of building a bracket ot hold a dedicated alt for 3 AGM's in the back and run 2 lead acid up front for the rest of the vehicle. however i wounder if this is necessary, is there a way to have 3 batteries in back and 2 in front with a single alt and have it setup for the stereo to only pull power from the rear battery bank and have no voltage drop/draw from the front 2 batteries for the rest of the car? i was thinking the only way to eliminate voltage drop to the factory electronics was to get a dedicated alternator and battery bank but i thought id ask here before installing…

    i had some issues at sears but now finially got my order placed. i got 2 group 49 AGM batteries for my truck. i currently have 2 group 31 lead acid batteries that still work (sort of) but are rather lack luster for starting the truck. so my thought was i save 15.00 on the order per battery to trade my 120.00 group 31's in (they are 1 year old) OR i could keep these 2 as a secondary isolated battery bank that i could abuse as i wanted with out much worry. do we think this is a decent idea or should i just core charge them? they are 1150CCA 195RC batteries. the truck has its stereo and a 16K Lbs recover winch on the front. my thought was that while the truck is running…

    I'm adding a second battery and want/need to get a battery isolator. The battery is an XS XP750 AGM Battery Power Cell and I'm getting it because I have a 160 amp alternator, NVX JAD 800.4 and Rockford Fosgate T-1500bd. That RF amp pulls 180 amps max (I don't typically listen to sine waves) so I need a 200 amp isolator, correct? Would there be any harm getting the 500 amp isolator because (believe it or not) I can find them cheaper (and in stock) than the 200 amp models.

    I have a Ford, and there's this feature that doesn't shut the radio off until the doors open. Also, I will be going to school this month, and campus is small enough that I won't be driving the car unless I'm heading to the mall of back home. From what I've read, an isolator seems necessary in my case (D3400 and XP950), but I'm not sure if the diode-style will be practical, and if it's safe to have an isolator rated for higher amps than the system draws.

  9. So I got on it today getting on the interstate, battery light came on, stayed on a few seconds then went off. Put it in neutral, reved it, nothing for a few seconds, stopped reving, light came on a few seconds. Pulled over, put DMM on front battery 14.18. Reved it up, droped to 13.2...stereo off. Checked rear batts, 14.18 running, dropped to 13.5 off, probably would have kept dropping slowly. O'Reilley AGM in front, 2 large O'Reilley AGMs in back 100aH. Iraggi HO alt, the highest at idle lowest peak: 160-180 idle, 200-220 peak.

    I recently took out my big heavy soundsystem due to the weight in the back causing traction issues up front.( gonna fix that this summer i hope), but for now i took my two kinetic 1800 batteries out. I went out and bought a cheap battery maintainer thing from advanced autoparts, it says 1.5 amp maintain. My question is can i paralled the batteries together and hook both up to this one maintainer or would i need to get another. To me it seems fine, it would still be seeing 12v to maintain. Right?

    I have a question, I was rolling down the highway when one of my friends in my backseat heard sparks shooting from the battery (which was when I looked back to see my battery posts red hot and melted. I have the Kinetik HC1800 in the back, and just a stock Interstate battery in the front along with the Big 3 in 1/0 wiring. What would be the cause of this major problem??? And yes I did stop in the middle of the road to fan out the smoke in the back :( PS Ill get pictures of the demolished battery if you would like

What I was wondering is if an XS power D1200 would be sufficient enough to use as my battery under the hood? Or should I got for the XS power D2400? I don't want to get a H/O alternator or a second battery for the trunk. Thank you

    ok so last night and all day today everythings been great. setup has been beatin pretty good. ok so i went to my ol' lady's house today and had no problems what so ever on the way. my car set for 4-5 hours. i go to leave and my car wouldnt start. thought it might be a loose batt terminal checked that didnt work. my voltage meter said 12.8 turn the key and it would go to 0.0 then to 9.0 and back to 12.8. ended up using a jump box to get it started and voltage went right up to like 15.3 with the headlights on. if i turned my volume up over 1/4 up the stereo would shut off ,lights would dim ,and voltage would drop to like 9.0 ...hit the highway and i could turn it bout 1/2 w…

    Well I have ran into something here and I think I may have gotten lucky on my part.... My friend who is going to help me install my car system here whenever I get everything together. He told me that he has a 5 farad cap and that I could have it from him for a few cases of...beverages. Now I am curious about this seeing as I was told to stay away from caps and just get a battery bank. What questions should I ask him when deciding if I want this or not? He says its pretty new and was only installed into his car system once. Then he took it out due to too many tickets over a week (must have been dumb about it) and never put it back in.     Copied from earlier post below by Shizzzon. quick answer- A cap will discharge EVERYTHING in it's bank when a rush of current is requested... A battery will compensate for the current requested when the alternator can't or the regulator doesn't react fast enough. If you could.. try and imagine your battery going completely dead then back to recharging every other few seconds?!?! You can't imagine that at all.. So, you got your alt, a big battery bank and a big ass cap- The cap will ALWAYS be getting drained and recharged all the time... What's recharging it? The alternator... When it's doing that, it's providing less power to the audio system which results in more voltage…

    okay, heres the score: i have two RE SX 12D2's i purchased. I wanna power them with 2 Sundown Audio 1500's. I have a stock alternator and it pushes about 160 amps. ive searched for another alt but they dont have one for my vehicle. I was told to purchase a seperate battery but i know its just another load on the alternatorso my question is would it be better to purchase one big capacitor, (i.e. a 10 or 20 farad) or just purchase another battery? thanx

    I have read a few things that say that a 2nd bat. is useless unless competing because in some comp. the motor is off.... as i do not compete i was wondering if a 2nd bat would be usefull to stabilize voltage or a HO alt. I have a 2002 grand prix gtp with the big 3 done in 4awg knu knocepts wire and some 4awg monster cable. I have a sae-1200d.v2 and i am going to be getting 2 sa-12s. I am hoping to have both loud and good sq system in my car? just wondering what others are thinking and comments... thanks

    I have my install next wednesday, and the problem is...I only have 1 d3100...and the place that I ordered the 2nd one called me and said that they shipped my 2nd one out...but then they called me back and said that they were sold out of the d3100, so they offered to substitute a d2700, my question is....can I install both of these batteries together for my xtra batteries in the back of my car...or is it wrong to connect 2 different model batteries together???????? damn im bummed right now Thanks everyone for the help Freddy

    I'm running two atomic 5000.1's with 5 C&D Batteries (93ah maxrate ones) with 0awg all over and a 280a XS Power alternator. Now I can say straight off my power supply isnt adequate for all day booming but for short bursts (15 odd mins) its fine. Add to that I'm in the UK and our cars are tiny compared to your guys in the states so space is always an issue. Now my question is my batteries rest at 12.4-6 which seems very low to me ? I have a Ctek 25000 and was wondering should I give the recondition mode a try ? Any one got any general advice as hardly anyone runs these batteries in the UK.

    I have 2 Kinetik HC 2000's in my tahoe which is broken down for the time being. Fuel pump took a dump and its in-tank. not to mention i was just layed off from work.. its going to be sitting for a little while. Do i have anything to worry about, will the battery's be fine? ... im only asking this because im pretty sure ive read about this somewhere else but have nothing solid to go on.. i mean if they go dead i charge em.. right? lol. Just unsure and could use some clarification.

    I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. Im sure this is a very basic and easy process but have never done it before. I am wanting to run a battery to my amp and need to know the best way to do it. I have seen people with a battery in their car connected to their amp; would you do this rather than running your amp off of your cars main battery? or is what im seeing more like an extra power source? Answers are greatly appriciated ! Thanks.
