i finally did the big three today... and omg my voltage jumped up from 12.8 to 14.1 with the engine on.. and under load still getting 12.8 only 70 amp alternator and stock batterys and 8 gauge wiring the old ground cable was so ugly, it was soaked up in motor oil where the terminal bolts on to the engine mount and up at the top where the connector goes to the battery it was corroded with acid dust... (shoulda taken a pic of it before i threw it away). for the grounding from the engine to the chassis i bolted it to the long screw that screws into the alternator and then sanded off some paint and grounded it to the chassis. then for the + battery to alternator i ran the …

Hey guys ok my situation is this i have replace my stock battery with a kinetik 2400 and i also have a 800 my lights still dim badly i am running a hifoniks brutus bxi 2608 im running the full 2600 on 1 ohm on my cascade designs omega 15. Since i have a dodge charger my batterys are in the trunk only and the stock cable going to the battery form the alt is i believe 2 awg i forget. my alt is 140 amps. and the cable going batt to batt is 1/0 and the ground is 1/0. my idea is this i will mount another kinetik hc800 under my hood right by the alternator and run 1/0 to it from the alt +. then run 1/0 off the + of the battery to the 2 batteries in the trunk will this solve m…

So I inherited this situation but I'm too deep now to give up. From what I understand, there was one `1200 watt audio pipe hooked up in dudes car. He blew that one. Then he put 2 more in and blew both of them immediately I believe. Seems like a short somewhere in his vehicle to me but I'm no expert. So I went through and tested all the transistors and found multiple output mosfetts to be blown on all 3 amps. I pieced enough "good" irf640 mosfetts together to hopefully make a working unit but I have a short someoene because It bounces bavck from protesct to power. Can anyone help me with this?I have more hours in troubleshooting these things than I care to admit. …

I need to order 3 pair of RCA's before the SWVA TeamSSAudio meet, wanting to install 8053, anyway, I have not bought high end RCA's in a while, and I am not going to buy monster cable, I have bought mostly decent RCA's for normal needs. For this install, hopefuly for SQ competition, if not just for high end SQ in my car. I would like to stay under $50ish. I am considering the Knukonceptz Krystal Cable, RF, and maybe the Tara labs cable that Nick Lemons reffered to. Any help in this would be nice, hope to order asap.

I'm helping a friend install some subs he has had for quite some time now, and I'd like to let him have an amp that I've been trying to sell for what seems like forever but I'm not sure if it will work. He has 2 JL Audio 10w6 (old school version) and they're DVC 6ohm which means I can wire them to either get 6ohm impedence or 1.5ohm. My question is will the JBL GTO601.1 II amplifier work? It says maximum power at 2ohms and I've heard of some people wiring them at 1ohm, but it voids the warranty. Will this be a problem or should 1.5ohm be okay? any help is appreciated -John

I'm about to grab up a normal ANL fuse holder from Knu when I notice they have this "high current" fuse holder that uses multiple mini ANL fuses instead of one big honker like the normal one, (not the mini). They say it will have "lower voltage drop across the fused surface area" as well as handling higher currents. Is there any validity to this statement? Has anyone had any experiece with one of these to know if it really has any great affect on voltage drop? I'm just curious...

Hey everyone, I just bought a used Alpine CDA 9885 and I've connected and soldered all the connections together. When I put it in, it turns on and I can go through any of the functions, but whenever I adjust the volume knob, no sound at all is being produced by my speakers. I cannot pick up any sound through the radio, nor the Ipod function, though it will show that it is playing the track on the Ipod. Anyone have any possible ideas on what could've happened? I have already checked my soldered connections, and they seem solid, so I'm not sure what else it might be. Thanks again!

Going to start a new thread for this, but it kind of piggyback's off my previous battery thread. Got my stereo up and running but was noticing some dimming of the lights both internally and externally. Initially was thinking of just upgrading the battery. I took out my DMM and at the battery it was showing 14.0 and right about 14.0 at the amp (might have been 13.9). So all seemed fine, but then I started to turn it up a bit and was noticing on heavy bass hits it was going down to as low as 12.2v. as i was doing the big 3, i was looking for the engine ground, but it is in a very difficult place to work on, ill have to take a hose, some spark plugs, and other wiring to be able to connect the wire, is there any alternative to the factory engine block i have a 2000 silverado 4.3L

What do I need to do for the big 3? Do I need to upgrade alternator?

Okay, this is the deal; my current 3SIXTY.2 broke (it's the second one which has broken). The red light keeps blinking and according to Rockford Fosgate it means the Bluetooth chip on the 3SIXTY.2 is broken. I also contacted Rockford Fosgate Europe, they can repair it, but it will cost me 200 Euro's!!! That's insane! Hey guys!!! I bought an alpine cde123 and it says it has 4v preouts before clipping. Well I am wondering why when I measure at volume 23(at 24 the speakers start to distort) it only measures .188v, I had to max my amp gain out to get it to play full tilt. Even the the amp clipping light doesn't come on when it's up all the way? What could be the cause of this?

Got about 12-15 feet of 2/0 run from battery to trunk, going to be running DSC1500.1D @ 1 ohm 1500 rms and DSC280 @ 4 ohms 160 rms. What size fuse should I put next to the batt?
