I've been searching and not finding exactly what I wanted.... Im trying to figure out how to find a good ground in my car for my rear batts and I know people use DMM's to test spots but I wasn't sure how? like which setting on the dmm and what do you touch the probes to?.. I dont understand rofl. I tried a bunch of different things but wasn't really sure what I was doing.

So when I originally purchased my amp (1k5h 1ohm) it was the combo deal with my xcon d2 but I now will be running both xcons on it until I upgrade electrical and go bigger also got to save up the money My question is should I just wire it to 2 ohm load and have less watts per sub or wire it to .5 ohm and just keep an eye on it to make sure it don't over heat Don't want to ruin this amp it's been great and I would like to sell it in the future when I upgrade Thanks Logan

Ok so I understand that if you dont want to deal with upgrading your alternator, you put more reserve of power (aka batteries). However, I understand that if your voltmeter tells you that voltage is below ~12v, then you are running into problems. I have a question regarding this. Let say I play my music and I see voltmeter says 11.9v but I already have my main battery upgraded, and an extra battery. At that point of having 2 batteries, will my problem be easily fixed with ANOTHER (a third) battery or would I have to get an H/O alternator? Reason Im asking is because a group 31 is ~$300, and an alternator for most cars is also around that price. However, I have a BMW and g…

I have a Profike HA740 4 channel amp with Rockford fosgate components on the rear and two focal midrange on the front all at 4 ohms. Maxed the gains out to all four channels and I have no clipping or distortion. Checked it with a local shop and they said no clipping at all. Profile amps equal amazing. They are now out of business though:( Messed the title up, I meant HA740.

Hello, everyone. I am admitting to being a newb at this stuff but hey, everyone was, at once, one as well lol I had a couple RE SX12's hooked up to a 1600W amp in my last car with a 105 amp alternator and they sounded amazing but it was hooked up with no electrical upgrades, not even big 3, so the lights dimmed out when the bass hit. I have bought a used car now and the alternator is most likely between 80-105 amps and my new amp is 2400W (Hifonics BRZ2400.1D - latest model). I am also debating between a DC Audio level 4XL 15, level 5 15, AA mayhem 15 or even an 18 of any of those. I know they are all amazing woofers but I dont know which one would perform optimally with …

I have a Soundstream TRX 2.550 and I need to properly set the gains for my subs. I checked the sticky in this section and it says to use the frequency that the bass boosts uses. My boost is +18 from 35-80hz. So what tone should I use?? I wish I didn't have to use the Bass boost knob but I have no other way to turn the subwoofer level down as I am on a factory stereo. If I turn the bass down on the factory stereo it turns the bass down for all speakers making it sound bad. Thanks

alright i plan on running 2 18" subs. i have them in my car (91 civic hatch) so its a tight space. they are already in the car there right behind the seats 2 boxes side by side. and the subs are facing me. do i need to switch the amp phase to 180* since they are right behind my head lol or keep it at 0? its pretty much a wall setup. the subs are just angled back a little bit. im not 100 percent sure about the phase setting yet.

I have no way of knowing (atleast that i know of) to let me know when my HU starts sending out a distorted signal and i dont trust me ears that much. So i was just wondering if anybody has personal experience with this head unit and at what volume it starts to distort. The previous owner told me not to turn it up past 24/35, but i have also heard that some alpine HU's aswell as other high quality HU's will be able to go up to full volume without distortion. Im starting my new build and want to re-do all the gains on my amps so this would take some guess work out of it. Thanks.

ok so i have a 1997 cavalier and in it is 2 12 inch sundown audio sa-12's, 1 saz-1500D on 1 ohm, a box that is tuned to 28ish and has about 4.5 cubes including my port. I also have a kinetik hc800 hooked up to this system. I am using a Kenwood eXcelon kdc-x395 head unit with 4 gauge wire all around and no big 3 atm. My problem is that when i have this system turned up past 30 (max is 35) on certain songs my deck will shut off and it turns my subs off too, and seems to reboot it self and then resumes playing, and i have no idea why. i dont have the volume maxed either i never go above 33 unless the songs arent very bassy, like with eminem and some other rappers with light …

I purchased a Sundwn 3000d last week and will be getting it in soon. I was just curious about what Size fuse I would need to run from rear battery to amp? 150a, 200a, or 250a? I currently have 150a fuses from my sundown 1200amp that I use to own. Now that I upgraded to the 3000d sundown, I wasn't sure what size fuse to run between this amp and rear batt.

  15. Hey all.Im going to be getting a AudioQue 3500d.1 and I was wondering about the dual power/ground inputs on the amp.My main question is a major noob one.How do I hook the amp up with the dual inputs?Like do I need a distrobution block for both power and ground or do I just run both power/ground inputs to the power/ground inputs on my rear battery or what?My second question is about adding a 3rd battery.Ive been searching the forum and I think I have to just run + to + and then - to - on the rear batteries right?Do I need a fuse when connecting the + to the other + on the rear batteries?I have a 220amp power bastards alternator so im thinking between that and a 3rd battery…

i noticed that when i turn my system up (1 kicker oldschool zr240 and 1 solo x 10) that the amp will give the sub a good amout of power for about 10 seconds then will lose id say a quarter of the power it had and stay that way. could this be becasue my alternator is not giving the amp a steady voltage??? i have all stock electrical right now with 4 gauge wire and the big 3 done. what do you all think?

I just got my amp yesturday and whenever I power on my indash or change songs the sub has like a popping feedback that comes through. I have been trying to find similar problem on here and always sounds like people point out a cheap indash as the problem (my indash is a cheap kenwood lol). What are your guys opinions.

I have heard several people say that Class D amps are not good full range. I agree that a Mono sub amp is not made to work at over ~250 hz. However I have seen several high end companies making them for home theater. (And not as an entry level product) Crown now uses this in their XLS series pro audio amps, again a full range product. So I found a Class D car amp, and I'm interested if anyone has used it. The Incriminator Audio 6.4 4-channel amplifier, sold on this site! How does this compare to a class a/b amp? Are there trade offs for going to the type of amp? I'd think that the efficiency would make it much easier on your electrical system. If anyone has used this, wha…

Hey guys, I finally found 2 amps that I'm trying to choose between for my 4 SA-10s. I am either going to purchase a used saz 2000 or the saz 3000. I was wondering what kind of electrical is needed to run power one of these 2 beasts. I currently have a DC HO Alt that Is 110/170 idle/max and a kinetik 1400 under the hood with a kinetik 600 in the rear. ( I will also have 0 awg ran from front to back and 0 awg big 3 ). I'm not sure what is needed to keep voltage up with the 2k or 3k? Should this be enough? I'm not sure what most people have these on, I saw a few people say they had stock 90 amp Alts with just 2 large batts so I wasnt sure! Thanks guys!

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_34494_Boss-CE2200M.html I've heard many stories of Boss Audio not putting out the specs they say, but i have a nice build coming up in my uncles ride, my friend had a 1800watt boss 2 channel amp and it sounded pretty good, probably wasnt the watts the specs said though. but anyways, my plan 4 12s. sealed enclosure, subs facing up. they are 200rms each 400 peak. the amp puts out 750rms at 4 ohms. i know it most likely wont, but whats your estimate on the wattage it can put out at 4 ohms? money is tight and im not lookin to spend a whole lot on this, this is a fun cheap project, (the real project will be in my van) this build should…

Right so im gonna be running an mb quart q150 4 chan amp and a sundown 3500. what i want to do is run the 4 chan off of the stock alt/electrical with big 3 and a yellow top. a friend of mine has a 190 amp alt that he wants to sell me and hes also machinist so he can make brackets and whatever i would need to do this so mounting shouldnt be a problem. i want to have the 2nd alt isolated from the cars electrical and simply dedicated to a bank of batteries (couple kinetic hc2400's or there abouts) he said the alt is internally regulated to 14.8 v. so i guess the question is.. is there anything wrong with running the 2nd alt like this? any hickups or potentially dangerous pro…

Ever sinced I changed my stock battery to a XS D1200, after a few days of the initial installation, been noticing the car is starting to take a hair longer to start... While working on the car today, i noticed right after i got done driving it.. it was reading 12.6v.. that's pretty low from just turning the car off. So i clamped the battery cable, reading 0.4A draw... hmmm... Pulling fuses under the hood and came up with this- AM2 fuse - (according to forums, controls Starter, fuel injectors, etc....) this fuse is pulling 0.15A DCC fuse - I do not know what this is but it is said dealers pull this fuse to prevent battery discharge if car is left unnattended for days. Thi…

I've decided that I would like to put two 10" dcons in my car this spring. Im trying to find an amp that will power them well without spending tons of money. I came across this MB Quart REF 800.1 for $135. Its stable down to 1 ohm and is cea complient. Is this too good to be true? I hear people hate on maxxsonics but it has all the features im looking for. Even if the numbers were skewed a bit I would still only need about 600w rms. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_25536_MB-Quart-REF1.800-REF-1.800.html

Alright so I have 4 Sa-10s coming in the mail this week and will probably build my box next weekend.. So I need to find an amp SOON!!! I don't really know how much power to give the 4 SA-10s but the 3 amps that I have been looking at and looking for used/new are: SAZ-2000d Audioque 2200d Crescendo BC2000d I wanna do this right the first time and get a great amp from the start with this setup. Plus I figure these amps are linkable so in the future I could add a second to match and gain 2x power if needed down the road. Is 2k good for 4 SA-10s? or would 2.5-3k be a better match? Probably am looking at amps between $250-$400ish... obv these are all in the top half price ra…
