I have an 07 LT Suburban, which I believe has the 160amp alternator. I want to run a dual alternator system for my truck because I'm about to install a hi-powered audio system in the truck. I'm trying to find a kit that will allow me to keep my factory alt while running another 250 - 300 amp alt that will run independent from the factory system. So in theory the second alternator would only power the two additional batteries that will be in the truck. Nothing factory related would be power by the second alt. Anyone have any ideal? I'm open to all suggestions. However if someone here is already running dual alt and advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

i have a client with a 6 battery bank in the bed and dual factory battery locations up front. he has 2 alternators and each alternator is going to its side battery so the driver side alt is going to the driver side battery and passenger alt going to the passenger side battery. i dont know - does having 2 point of voltage input going to two different batteries in an electrical system present any kind of issue? e.g. should these alternators be rewired to both go to a single positive terminal on one battery or is status quoe good enough? we are pushing close to 1200A at full tilt and are considering a 3rd alternator in an after market bracket (current two are in factory loc…

I know almost everyone here has auxiliary batteries to push their systems, but how did you wire them up? Did you run an output wire from your alternator to the primary battery, then run another run to your auxiliary(s), or did you run wiring straight from the alternator to both? Anybody using a dual-battery isolator or relay system, or is it just a waste of time and/or expense? GM originally used a parallel wiring scheme for its factory dual-battery system, I'm just wondering if that is the BEST way. I don't want to have any adverse effects on the alternator. I just want to do it right.

I was at wal mart the other day picking up some speaker wire for an install i was doing for a friend. I was looking at the HU section just out of curiosity. I found a unit that is made specifically for iPod/iPhone playback. It had a FM tuner, aux in, and the faceplate flips down with a iPod/Phone docking station. I put my iPhone on it to see if it would work with it. It charged my phone and played the music just fine. The price on this unit was 100$ even. I know dual is probably one of the most frowned upon audio companies out there.. but I've been looking into a new HU with a budget, and 95% of my music is played from my iPhone, so I dont need all the fancy features. For…

I can pick alternators for $20 at my local yard, for an extra hundred odd amps would getting a bracket fabbed be worth it? Not planning to exceed 3k rms for a year or so. Just a hifonics brx 2k and a taramps 250x4. Suppose I'm askin, how much would a bracket and a longer belt run me?

So its been awhile since i have made a topic on here. So, i moved houses the past week and when i was cleaning out the garage i found a brand new alt my dad bought for his lumina that didnt fit. Would it be worth making a dual alt bracket and putting two stock alts in my truck? or is that just a waste of time?. I mean i already have the alt, so that was free, and i figured to make a dual alt bracket it wouldn't be to hard considering i have access to my high school metal shop. so the question is would it be worth making that or should i just buy a new alt?

What do you guys think of this battery? Any reason it shouldn't perform as well as the DieHard 31m, or JuiceBox Black Cherry? It has same rating of 110ah at 20hrs. http://www.samsclub.com/sams/duracell-agm-deep-cycle-marine-and-rv-battery-group-size-31dtmagm/prod3590232.ip?sprodId=prod3590232&selectedTab=allProducts&_requestid=50474 This Duracell is currently $179 at Sams with core exchange. Sears has become way to proud of their 31m recently @ $310. The Black Cherry is currently $240 shipped. http://juiceboxbattery.com/product/juicebox-black-cherry-group-31-agm-110ah/

im looking to buy either a Sundown SAZ-2500D or an AQ2200D. neither of these amps are internally fused, and ive never ran an amp that wasnt internally fused.. so my question is do either of these amps come with the fuse holder + fuse? also, i know i need the main wire fuse close to the battery, but how close does the fuse for the amp have to be to the amp? less then a foot?

I have an amp with the following specs: 2 x 75 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms 2 x 150 Watts Max at 4 Ohms 1 x 300 Watts Max at 4 Ohms Bridged 2 x 125 Watts at 2 Ohms Electronic Crossover Network Bass Boost Circuit 2 Ohm Stereo Stable Tri-Mode Capable Gold RCA Inputs Power & Protection LED Indicators Advanced Protection Circuitry Soft Turn On/Off VU Meter Thermometer Frequency Response: 15 Hz-35 kHz S/N Ratio: 90 dB I know its not the best of specs in the world, but it is all I have right now so I want to make this work. I got a TC-1000 12" DVC 4ohm, so if I bridge the amp that is a 2ohm load on the amp. My amp says its only 2ohm Stereo stable, so I was thinking…

I've been reading and reading and I guess I haven't really seen it explained in a way that I understand 100% so I must ask. Let's say I have a dual 1 ohm sub, If I wire it in series to a pair of strapped amps each amp will be seeing a 1 ohm load right? When I wire it I simply sire in series to the 1st amp and just run the RCA to the slave amp?

I have been talking on here for some time now trying to figure out how to beef up my electrical enough to withstand a SAZ-3500D (or maybe I should just go with the AQ-2200D? for a single 18" Fi BTL) and a SAX-50.4. Now I have been looking more and more on other forums because I have pretty much read most of the posts here that are relevant. But It seems I am having conflicting ideas. For one, people on other forums say capacitors are the best thing ever. Get one 1.5-2x the rms load of your sub(s) and you will save yourself money because you wont have to buy a new alt or stock up a battery farm. Now I read on here that people thin capacitors are junk, why? I just want the …

Has anyone used a Duracell Platinum AGM battery before? It's the largest AGM I can fit under my hood, 94r. Sam's club has them for $169; http://www.samsclub.com/sams/auto-grp-94r-h7-agm-36-mo-free/prod9510086.ip?utm_campaign=bazaarvoice&utm_medium=SearchVoice&utm_source=AskAndAnswer&utm_content=Default Ford put the smallest battery possible in my car to save weight, I'm thinking they counterbalanced that by using a 150A alternator. There are two pieces that hold the battery in place that, once removed, accept a 94r. Should I go for this battery or does anyone have any other suggestions?

got a few questions about the system im putting together, and im still kinda new to this hobby so bear with me =] I got the alpine DVA-9861 to replace my old CDA-9815.. i had some technical issues with the 9815 (pos from carstereo.com) but other then it being broken i loved the features ie) x-over, lpf, hpf, time alignment, parametric eq [even tho it was confusing as helll]... so i figured id just get a new one but i wanted one that could play DVDs so i could have more MP3s on a disc. for some reason i thought that using an ipod wouldnt give me 4v preout, which is why i wanted the mp3s on a disc.. anyway i went ahead and glanced over the specs on the 9861 and everything l…

Ok, I'm looking to put a new H/U in. Here are my parameters: -nav built in bluetooth built in -ipod control -dvd -double din -5.8" or bigger screen -sub pre outs Right now, I'm leaning towards the Pioneer Premier f90bt. A friend of mine has one and I'm really impressed with it. I can find it for about $650 new and $475 refurb on Ebay(would you guys trust a refurb???) The only thing I don't like about the unit is the cd slot. Its petty, but I'm used to flipdowns where the slot is behind the face. I think it looks a little sleeker, plus you get an extra inch or so of screen. Opinions on this unit? Anybody have any suggestions for similar units, preferably around the same pr…
