So im about to buy a daily BTL 18 with cooling, the HiXm coil, and whatever color dustcap. (any one color look awesome to you guys?) I don't have much money for an amp, only about $400 so i'll probably buy a temporary one untill i get enough money (that sundown audio stuff is WAY too expansive...). Either way it's going to be at 2000 rms. This is the only aftermarket thing on my stereo (2009 mustang w/shaker 1000). The BTL will replace two pioneer premier 12's (begginer subs only about 400 rms). From what i've read, im going to need to some electrical upgrades. The Big 3 i can do. Am i going to need a high output alternator?? and how many amps am i looking at? Is it absol…

this is a WHOLE new world for me. this is what i have come up with... ID CD1Pro's Some nice midbass Drivers...hoping to run them at 2 ohms if possible for 100w. any suggestions? and an EQ/crossover type thing, im really confused on how that works. Do i hook all my amps to a single EQ? do i need to run any wires to my HU? i want a cheap one, just enough to get by. i was thinking about just using my HU's crossovers to mess with everything, or should i buy xternal ones? but im really lacking in the EQ part... i dont think a 3-band would cut it with the horns all of this is going to be thru one 4 channel amp. any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated

Anyone know if the CCD-2400's are strappable? I just ordreed a pair of them and am trying to find out and Concept's Tech support has been less than fabulous. Trieid for over a week to get them to answer and email with a few questions with no response. I have called them half a dozen times with no answer at the Tech support line. So I have left some messages with no response. Is it possible they have just one tech guy and he is on vacation? I hope this is not a sign of things to come from them.

  7. O.k. here is the deal. I have 8 sets of SoundStream RF-60C component speakers (6" midwoofer, 25mm tweeter, and crossover). I just found out that I have 2 blown crossovers (so far). Being that each set has a rms power rating of 180watts, I thought I could get away with running 1 crossover per 4 midwoofers and 4 tweeters. This gives me a 1.7Ohm load. I was just told not to do that as the crossover will not handle the power. O.k. then, my next question goes here. Since the amplifier that I will be using has a built in crossover, do I really need to use the crossovers that come with the components? I am pretty sure this can be done without a problem, but want to be sure. I kn…

  8. so I was just curious, as to the pros and cons of either amp... or what US amp would compare to a sundown, or if the even can be compared... I just keep hearing from a buddy, who seems to know more than me about car audio, that the old US stuff is hard to beat.

  10. Like the title says I am looking to put 2 12" FI Q's in my 05 ford focus. Ive never built a box but plan on trying to build this one haha. Any recommendation anyone has that would power these 2 well would be great. I currently have a 12 w3v3 hooked up to a TMA 500.1 amp (think thats right). The new box can be either ported or sealed, as i don't mind going across the entire width of the trunk, i will however need to leave the first foot and a half or so of the trunk open for my golf bag( plus room for flex? or mount up?). Thanks for your time guys.

  15. Here's the thing, i was considering getting 2 - 12" older model p3s, 2ohm subwoofers, Power Handling (Watts RMS): 400 Watts RMS 800 Watts Max With this amp http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p1000x2 Rated Power (RMS Continuous Power): 300 Watts x 2 @ 4-Ohm 500 Watts x 2 @ 2-Ohm wired with the 2ohm version If i can't find the older ones in 2ohm, i've come across the 4ohms, but wiring them would only deliver 300 watts, is this enough or do i have to get the 10"(which only require 300)? going in the trunk of a car, have 39" width and want to do less than 8" deep, ~16-18 high(considering leaving a spot on th…

HU: Alpine 9885 (4V) Front speakers: CDT CL-62 (160RMS) Rear speakers: CDT 69X (100RMS) Subwoofer: Fi 12" Here's how I have them wired. Front speakers are amplified, rear speakers are running off the head unit. The rear speakers start to distort at around 25/35 HU volume. Why? Ideally I would have preferred to have my HU @ ~30/35 for PEAK listening levels. But as of now, since the rears distort so early I have my front speakers and sub tuned to peak at around 22/35. Most of the audio is definitely coming from the front and the rears are doing a good job imagining, but I find that I could get much more out of my system if the rears weren't limiting me so much. What are my …

I've been trying to trouble shoot my hissing noise for a while now and don't know where else to look. When the sub amp is hooked up, the subs have a slight crackle, and the tweeters hiss. But when I unhook the remote to the sub amp the highs are fine. I've moved all of the grounds in the back around to a few different places. I've also tried grounding the head unit, and checked the rcas and tried a different set of rcas. Also added a relay. Grounding the hu kinda lessened the hissing in the highs, but not too much. I don't really know where else to check. I was thinking about just getting a new hu to see if mine is taking a shit...Any advice?

Do any of you guys follow the same routine over and over again when installing an amp? In what order do you plug in the wires? Detail always helps. eg: 1. Tear vehicle apart. 2. Run all wires. 3. Disconnect negative, then positive at battery. 4. Connect ground wire to amp. 5. Connect ground wire to frame. 6. Connect remote wire to amp. 7. Connect remote wire to HU. 8. Connect RCA to amp. 9. Connect RCA to HU. 10. Connect power wire to amp. 11. Connect negative to battery. 12. Connect positive amp wire and positive to battery. 13. Insert fuse. Just trying to generate some action here. - Steve

I need some help guys/gals. I will most likely be running a set of Focal 165K2P comps and a 12" ED kv.2 sub from Elemental Designs. The sub can handle anywhere from 400-900 watts and the 165k2p's are a 200W max speaker although i have been told they can handle every bit of 200W if done correctly. I would like to buy one nice amp to power both the comps and the sub. the first amp i have found that is capable and in my price range is the SoundStream TR800.5. its a 5 channel amp that does 200x2, 400x1 in bridged mode. Amp specs found here>>> http://shop.store.yahoo.com/discave/trsost5chcar.html This seems like the perfect amount of power for the comps and the sub. I…

Hey do any of you have a good link to the RMS specs for the VFL Comp 2K Amp listed on the SSA site. I just got one and it's a big ol beast of a hunk of metal but the booklet that came with it is one of those one size fits all VFL Amps booklet so it shows all kinds of wiring options but zero in the way of specs and I'm trying to set my gains on my amps without the help of an oscope (believe me I'm ordering one this week) anyway until I can do this I still need those specs so I feel safe.. not that I can't hear distortion but as much as I want to check what's going on and I'm just OCD like this. Thank you! Continue with what you were doing.
