I am thinking a running a 3way active system and was wondering what are some of the best headunits to use.

I have a Alpine CDA-9884. I got this in January, and used it until about 2 weeks ago. I got a different vehicle, and now have the hu in my 1998 dodge ram 1500. its been in for about a week. now the issue: when i have the hu on the CD player or iPod, music is only played out of the speakers in the back doors. The truck is a quad cab. On the harness, the factory hu had a black ground, i was told to clamp that with the Alpine black. And the blue/black from the Alpine i clamped with the blue/black from the truck harness. I left the reg blue by its self since i dont have a remote wire ran for an amp right now. pretty new pioneer cd player keeps telling me to check the cd core it wont play cd,s or the mp3,s what does this mean and is it fixable ?????? please help

alright so about a couple weeks ago i installed an alpine cda 105 unit for my expedition and i realized i have a bit of alternator whine. i grounded all of my wires quite well and even double checked the harness. everything is straight but at one point the whine stopped then came back, im not sure what to do. also, i can hear noise from my headunit menu selection sometimes, for example if i switch the inputs or select certain options it makes a click noise through the sub, is this a ground problem all together, or maybe faulty rcas? simple advice would be sweet.. thanks, john.

When I was first getting into car audio I cheaped out and bought an alpine cde-100 as a headunit replacement. It only has one set of rear preamp outputs and I already have an amp for my sub hooked up to them. In future I would like to get an amp for my speakers. When I eventually get an amp for speakers will I need a headunit or is there an easy work around? I don't want to lose any sound quality. Also, how important is the preamp voltage? I read that it cuts down on distortion but how much of a difference will there be between 2v & 5v?

I bought a usa-425 from Ryan, the amp looks great and everything, but when hooked up...... nothing. Im thinking its the preouts on my headunit. What is the best way to test this theory out? Besides hooking the amp up to another headunit? Also, if it is the preouts anyone know how these are fixed, if at all? Thanks

Basically I'm planning on starting a build pretty soon and right now I'm doing my homework on headunits. I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two. They are practically the same price(JVC is $10 more) and the JVC has a few more features like HD radio, 5V pre-outs, etc. But Pioneer seems to have a better reputation, so I'm not really sure. These seem to be the best two that fit my requirements as I need one that is around $150, has at least 4V outputs, and sub pre amp outputs. So which one do you guys think would be the better buy?

I was re wiring some amps back up in my jeep today and everything was working fine, including the headunit. I took it out to change the remote wire and put it back in, only to find out it won't turn on at all, completely blank display. I have a Pioneer DEH-1200mp, relatively new. No blown fuses, not under the dash, not on the back of the headunit, nor under the hood. I didn't smell any burnt smell from the headunit.... I really don't see how it could have fried either. Strangely enough, if the remote wire is connected, both of my amps power on without the ignition turning on. so I have to keep it disconnected otherwise the battery will drain. I have a 06 xxx re audio 12 hooked up to a visonik v900hc...suppose to do 3200 @ 1 ohm bridged...hooked up to a kenwood kvt-911 dvd.... The only sound i can get out of my sub is when i hook the rcas up to the brain under the front pre-out...Does nothing when i hook it to the rear,and surges when i hook it up to the non fade output....But when i hook it up to the sub outputs to the back of the monitor it slams the sub and sounds right but you cannot control the sound....the volume only controls the trebble....the only wway to turn the bass from hitting is to unplug the rcas....and when its hooked up to the front preout it sounds decent but only when u turn the volume up al…

I did not know where to put this but since it concerns using head units, I thought this would be the best fit section. So first of all some background info.... I have a 1999 Volvo S70 (dont hate) and currently I have a alpine cda-9886 headunit. My car is a double-din so i have the headunit in the bottom slot and a pocket in the top slot. I also have 15% tint all the way around, which I know isn't the darkest but its pretty dark at night, especially backing up....however, i was thinking about redoing the tint and getting 5% all around and 50% on the windshield so I know that this will be even harder to see at night. before i was deciding whether or not to go darker but my …

Few months back i installed the dsp on my vehicle and after few weeks of setting it up the mid bass dont play music sometimes after about 10-20 minutes then start playing. Also all the time left channels play music very low that you barely hear them then after 20 minutes they play fine. Once vehicle is turned off and turned back on after a while ill have the same issue again or they be playing fine. 2007 4runner, HU pioneer x4700bs, RCAs stinger 8000,helix dsp.3s, arc audio xdi 6ch & mono amp, peerless ne25vts tweeters, audison voce mids & lows and memphis m5 10s subs. System is ran active.

Hey guys, I have an 03 BUICK CENTURY v6. I recently put in a 12 in SSA GCON . Built a custom box 2.25 net @33 hz slot ported. Ran all ofc knuconcepts 4 gauge. Monster rca's . Active loc and factory head unit. Amp is a Rockford prime 750.1 running at 1ohm into the GCON... Now u know what I got, well last nite I got her all hooked up, went to test her out, and every time my bass hits my headlights blink with the bass! I hate cars with systems that do that... Can anyone tell me why?? I was told I would be fine running factory elec with 750 watts? Even less actually because I barely had the gain up cuz my GCON is brand new! Even at low-moderate volume it is doing it..…

Hey guys I’m new to this forum but I will just get straight too it I have 2 svr12s from Skar and the rp1500 from Skar too it’s rated for 1500rms and 2300max I have my system wired at 1 ohm as it recommends and have done the the big three and have a 200amp high output alternator and a dual battery setup with 0awg going from the front battery to the back battery and I’m still having a bad voltage drop when I play music wondering what else I could do to fix it, it will drop down to 12.4v and will slowly get lower if I’m playing a continuous bass type of song and it’s an older car 1989 cutlass Calais idk if that would anything to do with it any thank you

I am in the process of helping a friend choose equipment for his install. The car is a 2005 Chrysler 300M. This will be an active setup with 3.5" highs mounted flat in the dash, and 8" midbasses mounted in the doors. He already has a JVC KWV20BT hu installed. This hu is lacking a bandpass filter and time alignment. Also has limited EQ ability's. I have suggested a stand alone digital sound processor as the owner does not want to purchase a different deck. He is fine with this. What DSP's are currently available that will allow for a active 2-way, has T/A, has a decent EQ, AND the ability of tuning from the drivers seat?
