Can anyone give me some ideas on fixing these cracks in my car's trunk floor? I'm aiming to get a good seal so it won't leak and for it too not crack again once I put my sub back in. Oh and I'm trying to spend as little money as possible so I could use some cheap ideas. I appreciate any input. Goes past the deadening to where my finger is.. And then there's this..

So you designed and built a box and think you know what it is tuned to, but there are a lot of reasons to verify that you are right. Some of these are: 1) To make sure you understand the math behind designing the box 2) To check up on the person that did the design for you 3) To check on your building skills 4) To verify where you are so that when you redesign to deal with an acoustic difficulty that you found you are able to. Whatever the reason, there is a simple way to do this. You will need the following equipment: 1) Your system installed in your vehicle. 2) A CD with a variety of low frequency tones on it, I

I've been looking around most of the forums and the only replies are "I wouldn't do it", but the question is never answered. Is it as simple as strapping two similar amps per coil or is there more to it. Also, can you put more than two amps per coil. If so, how. Thanks

My question is that I know line driver boost up RCA voltage but how does this help? I have a cheap pioneer HU and have to turn it out to volume 60/62 to get atleast 2 volts, And that is with like the loud and SLA option, my question is the line driver necessary in my appplication? And if i get some kind of bass processor with a line driver I well not have to get another line driver. Is there a way in me trying to make a line driver? Thanks for the help......

So I’m getting pretty sick of free handing all my boxes, jigsawing and using screws, my question is what size table saw does a guy need to do basic boxes; like max 24” cuts. Also, what kind of nailer and gauge nails do I use to replace screws? bonus tip* routers? Which one is a good buy to do cutouts and round overs? Thanks ALOT!

  13. Excursion is a large contributor to high output in any driver on the market. Typically, larger excursion (seen visually as how far the cone moves in and out) means more sonic output. However, with excursion come challenges. As the driver moves outward, the voice coil begins to move out of the gap. This causes a drop in the magnetic force (or BL) and results in a few negative effects, including a large theile/small parameter shift, lower efficiency (magnetic flux decreases), less control over the voice coil (transient response increases, making the driver sound sloppy), and introduces distortion into the output. Knowing these effects, there was a need to design a parameter…

I need an experts help, every time I try to make a box a very specific size, like certain dimensions. It automatically changes all the others I had. Example is, Say I want Side A to be 20", so I type 20. The program automatically adds numbers to side B & C. Then when I try to put in my own number in side "B" it changes A & C automatically. Even when I want A to stay the same, it changes it. What can I do?

I am going to install a sub/amp in a 2000 Accord EX this weekend. Has the factory CD player in it. Does anyone know if that will have a power turn on/powered antenna output to switch the amp on/off? I don't want to wire a switch or run it off ignition... Also, no PAC TRUNK-LOC or anything like that in the build, amp has high level inputs, and that is all it will get... Any help would be appreciated guys... -Mike

  19. In this tutorial write up we will be covering how to create some awesome door panel pods that will add a custom look to your install, allow you to integrate multiple speakers into a door panel, and allow you to control the mounting position of the speakers. Note that while these are in fact door “pods” that are not actually permanently bonded are made as part of the door panel itself, there are many techniques within that could be used if you were in fact planning on creating door “panels” from scratch. Let’s begin! Step 1: Woodwork and Templates: In order to have a good foundation for our door pods we want to make awesome speaker rings. The video above covers m…

Sorry for such a stupid question, but the owners manual isn't really specific about 1-ohm load with 2 subs. I have two infinity 100.9's (10" SVC, selectable 2 or ~4 -ohm impedence, obviously set to 2-ohm). I want to run a 1-ohm load on a SAZ 1000D. My question is, how do I wire them? Do I wire one to each set of speaker terminals and yield a 1-ohm load or will this yield 2-ohm? This is shown in the 2nd diagram on page 7 of sundown manual. ... or ... Do I need to wire them in parallel as shown being done with only 1 sub in the top/1st diagram on page 7 of the sundown manual, a method of wiring that I've NEVER seen before on a mono amp? If this were an old-school HCC…

Power compression is a topic that is rarely discussed, but always important. When you hear someone call various theile/small parameters a “small signal parameter”, the implication is that with larger signals (more power), there will be a shift or change in these theile/small parameters. This is what we call power compression, and occurs in 3 potential ways. The first thing to consider is how theile/small parameters are derived. There are 5 basic parameters from which all other data is extracted. These parameters are Re, BL, Mms, Sd, and Cms. So looking at this from a mathematical standpoint, a change in any of these parameters will cause a change in all other parameters a…

Since we are all very familiar with this phrase, I though that I, as well as anyone who is interested, to collectively share any real knowledge, related to car audio, into this thread. Preferably information that has been tested and proven and that has data to back it up. Such as formulas, graphs, and things of the like. If no URL is available, then go ahead and copy the material word for word, with the topic in bold letters before your response. I'm in hopes we could use this thread as one big knowledge base.

A lot of people still have turntables in their homes, or are contemplating buying one - but good information on how to set one up still can be difficult to find in this age of Ipods and shiny silver discs. Maybe you have a battered Technics or Dual that hasn't played records since Gorbachev was in office and your records look like they picked up a case of the plague; maybe you're thinking about purchasing a brand new SL-1200MK2 or Rega P1 to hear for yourself what these vinyl loonies are really yapping about. Regardless, anyone that's planning to add LP capability to their setup could use some hints about setting up and caring for the centerpiece of your analog rig. I'm g…
