Tech Flex is something that I have always loved using in my installs. It not only helps to protect the wire I find that it has a number of other uses as follows: Color Code Wire Bundle Similar Wires Link the Wire to the theme of your iinstall Refresh otherwise "bad" looking wire In this thread I would like to share my process for covering a wire in techflex as well as some of the techniques I have learned for working with it. In this example I am going to be bundling two RCA cables together to make a 4 channel run that is tied together at one end and seperate at the other. It looks like this when complete: Lets begin: To start I prepare my wire and tech f…

Well, as you can see by the title, I'm experiencing some significant voltage drop at my amp. It's an SAZ-1000d and my alternator is a 240a Iraggi. I have just one battery under the hood. It was sitting idle at about 13.3 at the battery and amp. Full tilt on music, it stays at 13.3 at the battery, maybe dropping .1v, but at the amp, it can drop down into the 11.5 range. The wiring for the amp is probably too small, it's a 4 gauge wiring kit I got pretty cheap on sonicelectronix.com, so I'm guessing that is probably my problem. The amp says it uses 4awg, but the 4awg I have might be on the small side, I'm not sure. What do you think?

The Big 3 Are: 1. negative battery wire to ground - just replace the negative batt. terminal and wire and ground it to the factory location 2. engine block to ground - replace the ground wire from the engine block to the chasie with a bigger wire (maybe 4 guage) 3. alternator to batt - add a fused wire from the postive post on you alternator (the one comming from the battery) to the postive terminal on your battery. DO NOT exchange wires just add a extra one. make sure it fused the same size as your factory fuse. hope thats helps Note on #2- Some cars have a batt-engine block connection stead of chassis to engine block... -------------------------------------------------…

Sub wired to .75 ohm Just got a clamp meter today and messing around I did 18.4 amps & 79.8 volts @ 37hz. I want to know what the impedance is doing but not exactly sure how to check for that Thanks

I just installed visor tv's in my ride and i ran everything correctly I twisted both powers together and then the grounds for both and then hooked them to the back of my pioneer 4200 with the correct wires. the tv's have 2 rca's that come with them both and they are yellow meaning video in on both. so i hooked my rca's to the back of the pioneer 4200 in thevideo out slot. when i tried using them i put in a movie because my deck plays movies and the tv's turn and work but say the have no signal on eith video input. what do you think this problem could be. http://www.youtube.com/caraudiofabrication'> Something I have always enjoyed integrating into builds or seeing used is back lit plexiglass. You can use it to light up a sponsors logo, or your own, or just to simply highlight an area of your build. In this video tutorial I show you Step by Step how you can use plexiglass and other techniques to create an awesome panel. The possibilities are endless, use it on an amp rack, use it on a sub box, use it on a console whatever! And yes, there are other ways this can be done, I just have found this way to work quite effectively! Lets learn how to make this: http://www.youtube.com/caraudiofabrication'> Enjoy, and…

Sorry for such a stupid question, but the owners manual isn't really specific about 1-ohm load with 2 subs. I have two infinity 100.9's (10" SVC, selectable 2 or ~4 -ohm impedence, obviously set to 2-ohm). I want to run a 1-ohm load on a SAZ 1000D. My question is, how do I wire them? Do I wire one to each set of speaker terminals and yield a 1-ohm load or will this yield 2-ohm? This is shown in the 2nd diagram on page 7 of sundown manual. ... or ... Do I need to wire them in parallel as shown being done with only 1 sub in the top/1st diagram on page 7 of the sundown manual, a method of wiring that I've NEVER seen before on a mono amp? If this were an old-school HCC…

I've been looking around most of the forums and the only replies are "I wouldn't do it", but the question is never answered. Is it as simple as strapping two similar amps per coil or is there more to it. Also, can you put more than two amps per coil. If so, how. Thanks

Ok so this is the first time I'm amping some mids/highs in my car using a 4 channel amplifier. I have 2 infinity reference 6x9s by an SSL F400. I bought one of those cheap amp hookup kits from walmart just to fill in the gap for wiring I didnt have. (8gauge power and rcas) I got really bad engine noise at first through the 6x9s. I troubleshoot and made a new ground for the headunit to the chastity of the car, also made a new ground for the amp to go to the same ground my battery in the trunk is grounded to. (strut ground) the engine noise was reduced but is still present. everything sounds good, but there is still some audible distortion. I have a pair of stinger bass blo…

Hello to anyone that can help me. I have the above car and I'd like to upgrade to the Big 3 to help my power. I have searched all over the internet to find the answer for this but no avail. The problem lies in the fact that the alternator is quiet hidden on the underside of the engine and the battery is under the back seat. Can anyone help me with the easiest way to do the Big 3 on this Cadi? Thanks for any help!

hey guys does anybody know how you would wire this qvc beast? I know you would take a pair of the voice coils and wire them to an amp. So im guessing you would do the same to the other side. Heres my question, when wiring separate sides of the speaker to its amp would you wire as you normaly do or is there a special way? IM goin to put one amp per pair of coils, i just want to make sure i get 1ohm power from each. so would i just wire each side to 1ohm or is there a special way with a qvc sub?

I have an Alpine SWR-1022D and a SWR-1023D Dual 2ohm woofers. I just checked each woofer. If I wire the two coils in series, I get about 5.6 - 5.8ohm. Parallel is 1.7ohm. Both speakers are very close to being the same coil resistance. I'm just wondering how my Dual 2 ohm coils are so far off from the resistance that they should be. Why such a higher resistance?

Hey, I've got 2 1ohm dvc subs and just wanted to make sure I wire them up correctly. seeing as this is my first "real" system I don't want to hurt it so soon. the saz3000d connectors are in parallel inside the amp. so if I were to run my system like so, would this show the amp 1 ohm? Thanks in advance.

Question on wiring and fusing. I'm going to get 2/0 scha cable, from my 320a alt to my batteries I I fuse 2 times on one run right? And you add up the fuses on the run, for example if I had to use lets say 500a on the run I'd do 2 250s on the run, one by the alt and other by the battery? Just trying to be safe and get it all right

So I failed to mark the ground terminal on my Dynaudio MD 100 tweeter when I took it apart as I want to paint the surround black (don't care for the grey). Now I find that I can't tell which is the '+' side as the speaker will go back in either way and the posts are identical. I took it's twin apart more carefully but find the opposite terminal was '+' on it's surround case. Now I'm more confused than usual. Are these tweeters not phase sensistive?

Since we are all very familiar with this phrase, I though that I, as well as anyone who is interested, to collectively share any real knowledge, related to car audio, into this thread. Preferably information that has been tested and proven and that has data to back it up. Such as formulas, graphs, and things of the like. If no URL is available, then go ahead and copy the material word for word, with the topic in bold letters before your response. I'm in hopes we could use this thread as one big knowledge base.

I figured this was the place to ask, since I cant seem to find anything after searching Google. I want to be able to plug in my USB drive to my Pioneer's IP-BUS interface and control my music from the HU, but Im not sure how to do it. I know the CD-UB100 does this exact thing, but I cant find any used ones for sale (I should have bought one a while ago when I found it new for $35 ), so I'm wondering if there is a way to DIY on making a USB input through the IP-BUS connector? I have found pinouts of this connector, but the onle pins they list are grounds and left and right audio. This would only be good for a 3.5mm stereo cable, which is what I have now. Im wondering…
