  1. this is the final diagram of how im going to build it. we moved in a few days ago so i was here long enough to move the couch around, etc, and take measurements. the blue is going to be the desk. on top of the desk im going to build shelves. i think its gonna look bad ass...my problem is, i cant make it until i get the boxes designed. should i put both in that corner next to the couch, or put one there, and the other sub on the other end of the desk, by the closet door?

Talk to me about the theory behind them. Designs etc... Would the mach 5 mli's be a good driver to use for a line array project. I'm curious and my room is rather short but lets say I have 6 feet to work with unless I built them for my living room. Which because of the layout would have to be a 2.1 system.

Correct me if I'm wrong: But isn't line-level = line-level??? I could have an CD diskman go into a old car tape deck (with the aux jack in the front) into a home amp; it doesn't change the fact that it's line-level? And thus: http://www.mobileaudio.com/rac-faq/rac-faq_5.html#SEC106 That applies to any line-level signal... ...correct?

I've got a pair of RS225-4's sitting in the shop, begging for a project. I was originally going to put them in the door panels of the truck, but have decided on a different route for that ride, and something totally different for the Tahoe, so I'm stuck with extra parts, and IMO nice ones at that! My budget would love to stay under $50 per tweet. I'll then move on to pestering for crossover info! Large format is perfectly acceptable, and actually preferred. I haven't decided on what type of enclosure this will be, but more than likely, it'll turn out to be ported.

My dad is replacing his 15 year old receiver, but we have no idea at what brands to look at, or really all the features we need. We need about 100 watts for the front 2 channels at 8ohms and 75 watts for the rear channels at 8 ohms. His set up is old, so no center channel yet or dedicated sub, but we have two large towers each with a tweet, a mid, and a woofer with internal crossovers. We will be upgrading to a true 5.1 system, but as of now we are keeping the old speakers, probably for another year. Inputs will be from our PS3 and out digital cable box. Im not sure if you need anymore info, if so please let me know. Budget is around 250-300

I've been looking for a new tv to go into my bedroom. The room itself is roughly 12x12 or 12x13, can't remember off the top of my head, I havent actually had time to measure it yet, though. Primary uses will be for gaming (Xbox 360), general tv (ATT Uverse), and a few movies from my laptop and use as a monitor (HDMI). My budget would be around 5-800, depending of course, on the TV itself. I was looking for a 32"-40". Really not sure if I have the room for a plasma, though. I had been looking at the LG LE5300 32" and the Panasonic L37D2, which were what looked best to me in-store. Edit: I forgot to add that I would eventually like to do a 2.1 system a little down the r…

Anyone have any recommendations on a good 500+/- watt amp? I'm bringing my Fi Q 18" home and I won't be using it for car audio for a while The box was tuned to 29hz, and I don't mind if I can't hit the ultra low notes in movies, but I'll mostly use it listening to music. Thanks

  12. First off let me start by saying i have no idea about anything when it comes to home audio.. i do know a lot about car audio though.. i don't know it that matters. The room is 10ft 1in x 10ft 6in x 10ft (ceiling) - its a entertainment room. My goal is to have something that sounds good when i Call Of Duty, watch Transformers and listen to Gucci Man. My budget is around 500 dollars. What i have in my head is some speakers in the corners of the ceiling, a sub woofer and speakers to put on stands and shit. - i dont know if thats an over-kill for what im trying to do or not.. the room is pretty small so i dont think it would take much.. Thanks for your time and if you need mo…

Hello, As the title says, I want some new speakers for my home audio system. I have a Marantz amp, with tuner included, it is rated at 2 x 70 w rms, I think so ! I have a set of Bose Acoustimass speakers, that can handle 2 x 100 w. I like how they sound, but I need to give them to my father because they're small and sound good. I want something good, of course, but not as expensive as the Bose. Just a bass box and 2 speakers. I listen to rap, reggae,...so...I need bass, I can just buy the sub and make the box. So, can you tell me what would you choose, and where to buy online, please?

I don't know if there is anything that can be done, but just thought I'd ask. I have two old infinity cabs that are sealed and some random Phillips speakers from a mini Hi-Fi system sitting on top, all power by a Pioneer receiver, nothing special, just gets the job done for my bedroom. I noticed the other day when playing some rap with higher bass (say 50-60hz) that the lows are MUCH louder when I'm standing in the doorway to my room... WTF? Its like my room is an enclosure and the door is the port or something? Any way, is there something that can be done to make it louder inside my room instead of on the way out of my room? Thanks, Mike B.

A friend of mine would like to put together a system that is loud enough to be heard while playing drums. I guess the idea is that he plays while listening to music and he's tired of doing so while wearing headphones. budget: <300 for speakers and amp i'm doubt a small bookshelf system will be capable so i was thinking, with his budget constraints, pro audio gear. his best bet would probably be used gear but would anyone have a new option? he is not very interesting in building the enclosure himself and i live too far away to help him with that.

hey guys... just to let you know i recently took a leap to build an EBS, an 8.8 ft3 sub!, using the mj18 and a rythmik amp plate and it is awesome! i am still playing with it and making a few adjustments to make it sound tighter. the box is large as you can imagine, 42 x 17.5 x 27.25 external dimensions with a port slot of 2.25 x 16 x 29, tuning at 18hz. it sits behind my couch down firing, with my computer table on top. so far, it sounds great but i need to make more adjustment with adding and subtracting fiberglass. placement of my room has been a challenge since my room is so big with 20' ceiling, with a lead to a kitchen. it's a z shape room with no wall for bass…

These are my Magnepan MGIIB's, pretty darn nice speakers I think. They are just huge, 6' tall, 21" wide, and only 2" thick though. The other speakers you see are my Fostex FE103E's that I built walnut horns for, they are my brother's now and I still have to do some fix work on them, sand, and finish the cabinets. The maggies are not in ideal locations, but its about the only place to put them while I'm here at home. On to the pictures! The gear running it currently Yea, they are tall. (I'm around 5'10") We might have a book or two in the house

I was looking at the MAW-12 for home theater use...the MAW-12 looks like it can be used in a rather small enclosure (1.8 ft3 tuned to 28 HZ) It looks like a good value with reasonable low extension in a small vented enclosure. ANyone using this sub ? Especially in a similar enclosure? Any recommendations on any of the MACH5 line for home theater or another driver ? Criteria for the sub are 1) small - 2ft3 or less 2) decent (87 db + sensitivity) 3) decent low frequency extension (35 Hz or below F3) Has anyone used one of the MAW drivers with a passive radiator ? The MAW-12 could definitely be used with a passive radiator setup...

I am updating all the drivers in my towers, my crossovers died so I went with what I could afford, some parts express 800hz/5000hz three way crossovers. I have a basic active crossover for the towers so they'll only need to reach down to 60-80hz at most, the BTL reaches high enough to meet them. Just replaced the dead five inch mids with sealed back GRS mids which sound far better than the price tag suggested. With that in mind, i'm planning on replacing the flimsy plastic coned 10" midbass drivers, and am not sure what to get. I was eyeing up a pair of selenium tens, as I want it to sound clean and clear, but I also would like to be able to get loud. http://www.part…
