  2. I'm eyeing this amp for sub duty and I have seen a few people mention that it puts out closer to 1500 watts rather than the rated 2400 watts when bridged into 4 ohms. I've posted on home audio forums and searched the hell out of it, but can't find any real world data on this amp. As much as I would love to get a Crown CE4000, the EP2500 is very tempting because of the price. From what I have seen everyone seems very happy with them as well. Any thoughts?

  3. First of all, sorry for the sucky photography, I realized I really need to clean the lens of my camera. I went to a friend's house yesterday because he had some Klipsch La Scalas dropped off, they're in transit to someone in TN but they made a stop here first. I hadn't heard La Scalas before, so I was curious to hear how they'd sound. Here they are: And a pair of Cornwalls to compare them to: Group shot. Behind the Klipsches are a stacked Advent pair, refoamed Acoustic Research towers, original Infinity RS1.5 bookshelves, and who knows what else. First we listened to an Audiosource Tripath amp, the black amp on top with the meters. Frankly, it sucked on the La Scalas, …

These are my Magnepan MGIIB's, pretty darn nice speakers I think. They are just huge, 6' tall, 21" wide, and only 2" thick though. The other speakers you see are my Fostex FE103E's that I built walnut horns for, they are my brother's now and I still have to do some fix work on them, sand, and finish the cabinets. The maggies are not in ideal locations, but its about the only place to put them while I'm here at home. On to the pictures! The gear running it currently Yea, they are tall. i just purchased my new first home and i wanna build a killer 2 tower plus subwoofer set up. my main question is does any one make similiar diy kits like adire did before it went in the crapper. i loved how you could buy the speakers and x-overs and then have your choice of a ported, sealed, or tl box that they had designed and blueprinted for you. my mother has the old 281's or something named like that and we both love them. so does any other company offer what i'm talking about in a relatively cheap price. i'm more then likely looking for a 3-way set up with a great set of midbass' to keep up with a ported 18.... hopefully some one can answer this for me so i can get t…

About 5 months ago, the plate amp built into my Klipsch KSW-10 sub died. A replacement amp was $90, but I wasn't really excited about buying that same (55 Watt) amp again. After dragging my feet and trying to come up with alternative solutions and/or uses for the sub, a brilliant plan hatched where I wouldn't have to spend money. So, here's how I got my sub working again.... ThermalTake Silent PurePower 480W ATX Power Supply (18Amps @ 12Volts) - harvested from an old computer and was sitting in a box in my basement. Rockford Fosgate 200a4 Car Audio Amp (almost old school - circa 1999) - sitting in my garage unused. KSW-10 Sub - with blown plate amp First, I removed my …

I am wanting to build a new sub for my room. It will consist of a Soundsplinter RL-P 18 on a 500 watt Oaudio plate amp. I have the 18 already, but i still need to buy the plate amp. My question is about the enclosure and placement of the enclosure. The box specs on the Soundsplinter website say 12.8 cubes tuned to 18hz. I want to put the sub under my desk, but im not sure were to put the sub /port. ill try and post a picture of the desk and were it is compared to the rest of my system. http:// theres the desk i want to put it under http:// theres the desk to the left, and my couch to the right. then directly to the right is were my tv/reciever and towers are. i posted about this on another forum, but didnt get much help..however i have more ideas about it now... i got a set of computer speakers (edifier s5.1) i find the speakers themselves to be more than adequate, and the sub is very musical, however the subwoofer is very lacking in volume and spl, and i believe due to its tuning sounds horrible on certain notes, so i want to improve on it in the most inexpensive way i can... i was thinking i could build a sub in a box with a plate amp, and hook it right up to the sub input on the sound card, then just have the edifiers go to the rest of the inputs..which i know is very ghetto but i think it would do what i want it to do... m…

Anyone ever play around with the IR extenders? I'm using my xbox as one right now, my onkyo receiver and directv receiver are downstairs in a stereo room. All the cables are ran down there from the xbox then back to my tv. The remote works great from my room. Now when I try and set the same thing up in the kitchen with a top rated IR extender kit from amazon and the same model IR eye I used for my xbox, it doesn't work. Does anyone know of any good kits or what my problem may be?

It will be under my screen firing at the audience. It'll be 21.5 cu ft net tuned to 15 hz. With 92 sq in of port area. On Madisounds there are 8 different quick connection options that I can choose from but I don't know what size to use, I've looked and looked and haven't seen a definitive answer. I'm going to use 2 for a satellite speaker for my parents cabin running full range. Help on which ones (connectors) to buy would be greatly appreciated. Another question I had was for a in line lowpass filter for 11 kHz 8 ohm, does anyone know where I can find them? I'll need 2. The speakers are going to go in a ported enclosure tuned to about 100hz. Powered by a little receiver. They are not happy with the speakers in the TV.... No surprise there. They will be mainly using them for TV and mo…

Old school Japanese Rek-oKut wannabe with a Velvet Touch tonearm, a Japanese clone of a gray tonearm. It uses a Pickering/Stanton 380 cartridge, it's a stereo cart. I've been cocking with the turntable for a day now......it really suprised me how good it sounds connected to a SS integrated amp. It ain't perfect, and has some small issues with hum I need to address. Wish I had tube phono pre-amp. I suppose I better breadboard something up that's simple. I wanna hear it through tube amplifiers, not some weedy assed sounding vintage SS integrated. My LaScalas reject mediocre tier SS vintage amplifiers/receivers. KS Musicmaster Mike

  22. Hello everyone, I will be getting a new car come this winter and won't be putting my current sound system into the new car. Instead, I decided I would take the subs and box out and put them in my room. I didn't want to use my car amp and have to find a power supply or any of that mess so I've been doing some research and I think I need something like the amp in the link below. First, a little background on my equipment. I'm running (4) 10" SSA Dcons off of a Sundown 1000D. Something funky was going on with the SSA subs when I was ordering them and instead of getting a 2-ohm DVC they had to give me 4-ohm SVC (I may be wrong with that but if aI recall correctly that is what…

  23. Used a modified 15" Q that Scott built up for me (I think he reduced the power handling, since I am only using a 500 watt plate amp, I did not want to blow the sub by under powering it. . .haha). 500 watt PE Dayton plate amp. 8 cuft net with (2) 4" Aero ports tuned to 21-22 Hz. Just shot texture on it - he is going to paint it to match the room and it goes in the corner. This is part of a HT job for this customer - Really nice setup. Epson 8500UB projector with 120" screen (awesome projector). 7.1 with nice in-walls and this sub. Denon AVR 4310CI receiver and Sony BDP-S470 Blu-Ray player. Big room - 22' deep x 27' wide.

  24. Looking to get my first home theater system. I think I'd like to run a 5.1, I really have no experience in this field. All my previous focus has been on cast audio. I'd like some serious bass and clarity on the mids and highs. My house is well insulated and a good distance from my neighbors, town of 3000.... I'm in no rush to get the equipment, so I can stack up some coin to get it. I'd like to run two 15s or 18s for bass but I'm looking for reasons why I would or wouldn't like such. Are low power car sib audio equiptment more econimalical? I enjoy primarily rap but do listen to a lot of alt rock, nothing metal or anything in that direction. As for overall budget I'd say…

Has anyone on here done anything similar to the setup I just described? I found some really nice Behringer emminence Horns (neodymium) and I wanted to incorperate these bad boys into it. I could power both loudspeakers with an EP4000. and then I would have to have separate amp for the horns. Of course I would have to create some crossovers too. I feel like these would be an amazing build. I really enjoy loud music and I feel like this setup will get me what I want.
