I got this a god 8-9 years ago from some guy for dirt cheap. we can just say it was in my worse days and he used to bring me all types of weird stuff.. I was told this was valuable at one time but I could never find it on the internet or even make it sound good.. although i could have been doing something wrong.. Basically what im asking you guys is to tell me what his is if you know.. dont sugar coat it.. if its junk then tell me, been sitting in the closet for ALONG time. here is some pics... I have atleast 4 of the smaller speakers and 1 of the centers. I might have even more than the 4, i dont want to dig them all up just yet lol.

already picked up the mids a while back and now i'm finally getting around to putting this all together. my question is, which brand or type of components should i order to build the crossovers. here is the parts list. however, following the recommendation when used as desktop/near field R2 = 4ohm. here is the list i put together, just want to make sure im not spending too much, or not enough.. i have to place an order for speakers (bro's build), so shipping will be free from parts express. (could place the order through another site) 30 ohm 4ohm .4 mh board 4.3 uf cap .8 mh =30 bones

I've got a Kenwood HTIB (the 504, I think) that I've had for a number of years. It does the job, but I'd like to play around with it and replace the sub. The only info I can find on it is that it's an 8" sub, has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and the amp does 100 watts at 4 ohms. Does anyone have any idea of what sub might work as a drop in replacement? Or, should I just take a shot in the dark and try something out? I've been looking on Parts Express.

Finally started building these after having the part for a couple of months! (2) 12" Fi X Series, Dayton 500 watt plate amp, 3.0 cuft each, 4" aero port tuned to 24 Hz. Should be a nice replacement for this guy's 10" MTX sub.

I've got plans to build something dirt cheap for my apartment. I don't know if the difference in 5.1 and 7.1 is necessary or not. I am 100% honest with this subject, I know jack dick about Home Audio. Our company does ultra high dollar installations and sells equipment so getting a receiver shouldn't be too much. I'm interested in how to go about building inexpensive driver setups. I think Arrays are pretty damn cool, is this an option?

Hello, One of my friend is building a small studio for a customer. He already has eveything for recording sessions, but he needs a complete setup to listen to the final results. He's thinking of an amp (like the Behringer EP2000 or EPX, I don't know) and a 3 way system : 2 subs(10 or 12"), 2 mids and 2 tweeters. He will build the boxes. The system he will use for recording is too "neutral" for listening sessions. So he's looking for something simple and not too expensive. I want to order from parts-express or madisound.com ONLY. Can you help me choose something complete please ? There are so much speakers to choose ! He mostly listen to reggae music, some rap and maybe z…

My sony DA2ES died on me a couple of days ago. I'm looking for a small 2 channel amp to drive two bookshelf speakers, I believe they're 8ohm (could be 6 ohm). I want to plug my phone into a dock that I'll run a 3.5 mm stereo jack to something like the dayton audio DTA-120. https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-dta-120-class-t-mini-amplifier-60-wpc--300-3800 I have seen some other amps by plye and kinter, but I don't know anything about them. When I was younger pyle wasn't very good, have they changed? Has anyone used the dta-120 or would you recommend something else. I guess my budget would be ~ $100.00 or less for what I'm using it for. Thanks.

These aren't mine, but a friend got them in and needed some help moving them, and I had never heard Altecs this big before, so this is what I spent Monday doing... Note to self, don't drink beer and install horn throats... They're mid 1950's Voice of the Theaters, they're actually a set of three of them, we just ran out of room to aim them Gets painfully loud with under 3 watts of power...most comfortable listening was done with power levels in the fractions of a watt range.

Hi all, I have been away from SSA for a while but have come back with a new idea. Again, this is just an idea or starting point to build off of and I am looking to the more knowledgeable figures on this site to guide me some. I currently have a 16' by 16' room with a cheap logitech surround sound audio set up and am looking to combine two ideas I have. I have some great sounding speaker cabinets just sitting and collection dust and want to make my own home audio setup along with a great sub system. I currently have two recliners and want a couch to replace them so I thought I would build my own sectional couch made just how i want it and for the space available. Again…

Hello. I am currently wanting to redo my setup to a nice bookshelf, center channel, and sub setup. I already have a nice sub so I'll keep that and use what I have now for something else. My budget is about $600 for the the bookshelfs and the center channel. I currently have these speaker stands http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...FTOKEN=79969804 and wish to keep them. However, I think this may restrict the height of my bookshelfs. The center channel will be placed under the TV. Any suggestions?

I've been into car audio for a long time, and this is the first time I've ever even attempted dabbling in home audio, so I'm a bit lost. I have a cheap Logitech X-530 5.1 system (specs in link). Bought it a couple years back, and I am finally fed up with the lack of bass. I have a couple questions/options to run by you wise people... http://reviews.cnet.com/pc-speakers/logitech-x-530/4507-3179_7-31079671.html 1) I'd like to keep the speakers and just upgrade the sub, but reading around it seems like it may not be trivial. Here's a picture of the speaker hookups I know it'll take DIY work, so I'm down for that. My question is....is it worth it? or possible? 2) I have two…

ok heres the deal...im gonna order my 2 mj-18s whenever, its not on the top of my list right now, as i dont have a reciever yet, or crossover for the sub amp, etc...but i need the box built so when i get the subs, ill just drop them in. however, ive got some idea's, and id like your input on them. ive been told to do about 4.5 cubes per mj-18, tuned to 30hz. so im just gonna make a 9cu ft box tuned to 30hz (unless you guys suggest something different) and what i want to do, since space is limited, i want this to be the bottom of my desk. meaning the subs will be down firing (possibly the port too, if not, i dont care if the port is showing) and on top, what im gonna do is…

I have (2) 12" Intelligent Audio Systems (TC SOUNDS PROTOTYPES) 3" Copper Coils Single 3ohm 1000w RMS Designed for 1 cubic feet sealed enclosures. w/ poly fill added All I have is a basic 5 channel samsung home theater system that came as a package deal with my bluray player, so i'm obviously looking to upgrade. For starters I'm only looking for some power to push this substage. I looked into Crown XLS/XTI amplifiers around 2,000w RMS because that's all I know.... what brands and models should I consider, nothing top of the line but reasonably priced! Will I have to buy a receiver to hook the amplifier up to it. Not really sure how this works so any suggestions are apprec…

I decided to make a present for the old man and I know he loves small bookshelf speakers that really rock. He listens to pretty much only classic rock. I was on parts express and found a nice set of 2 way boxes for cheap. I'd like to use those as the reviews on them look pretty decent. It gave recommendations for the driver and tweeter to use and I'll be getting those as well. Only thing I wasn't sure of was crossovers etc. What else do I need to buy to put this all together? Here are the links to what I'm getting. Bookshelf boxes https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-br-1cab-br-1-6-1-2-2-way-speaker-cabinet-pair--300-645 Drivers https://www.part…

I'm buying this pre amp for my microphone: ART Pro Channel Microphone Preamp and Compressor It has an XLR input for the mic, and XLR output, and an 1/4 input and output. My question is, what would be the best way to go from the pre amp into my sound card to record ? I have your typical line input on the sound card, 1/8 size. 1/4 to 1/8, or XLR to 1/8 ?

Looking for some advice on a budget Home Theatre Receiver. I currently have a soundbar and sub and its not bad but would like something better, Main goal is probably for music but will also be watching movies etc but would rather it sound great on music then be amazing on Movies. Usually I would have done more research but Christmas is coming up so I need ideas for the Wife and family. Budget is max of around $400 Canadian for a decent receiver and ill pick up some used speakers and then later I will build a couple towers and a sub with separate components. Is a receiver with 70rms enough for a decent set of towers or is home audio like car audio…

Just wanted to know what all you Home Audio guru's think about Paradigm. My roommate has a pair of mini-monitors that are hooked up to an Onkyo receiver. Personally, I think they sound amazing. Yet again, they are the only real home audio speakers I've heard. Aside from Walmart specials.

i'm looking for a pretty sturdy 2 channel amp for my home theater system and came across this and was wondering what you thought about it? i don't know much of anything when it comes to home stereo amplifiers. i want something that is going to push around 200-300rms at 8ohms if you have any suggestions i would definitely be open to them. this is one that i found and it seems to have everything i need, but i don't know the brand and how good this would actually be. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adcom-GFA-555se-Stereo-Amplifier-/130717532260?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item1e6f5f4064
