I've got two 10" assasins that were in a Wicked One. Needless to day, the wicked one gave great sound (SPL and SQ) but it is simply too big. I am looking for some ideas for a relatively small box. I have two ideas, simple ported or isobaric ported. The majority of the music will be heavy metal and country with the occasional rap song as well. It is going in a 2001 Grand Prix with Alpine Type S Co-Axils (40w per side) and stock rear speakers. The avalable space is: 13" Tall (wiggle room) 36" Wide 15" Deep They have a Hifonics ZX440 for power. This isnt going to compete and it doesnt need to impress, merely give the output in the range stated. This will be built by newyear…

Got my new pair of Havocs in Monday. (thanks Scott) They won't be hooked up for a while as I'm waiting on a new amp replacing my HK4000, and a new box is in the works also. Old (left) vs New (right). The old proto Havoc will be going for sale soon, so keep your eyes out for that or PM me if you might be interested and I'll let you know when I plan on putting it up.

Is it possible to get a sticky started for the recommended box specs for the current offerings? I was hoping to get a 15" but I'm not going to be able to fit a 4 cube box in my trunk and leave enough room for anything. So I need to know box specs for a 12" havoc please

So, I understand the two companies are focused on different areas of the market, but I'd like some help figuring out which sub to buy. I've got an awesome wife who wants to buy me one for Christmas. Can someone who has experience with both of these subs try and explain the difference a person might be able to hear, like is one louder than the other in their spec'd boxes? I see some differences in construction (triple vs double magnet and spiders) and t/s specs (Bl, Vas, etc.), what differences would these make. I'm looking for an LSQ set-up that will play mostly rock with a little rap to show off with. I would really like to fit a 15" in the trunk of my '94 Mazda 626,…

EDIT: 15" assassin...ha ha. I feel stupid now. What volume am I looking for a sealed box for a 15" arsenal. Also, what volume/tuning for a ported box. I'm not going for boomy bass so much as controlled punchy bass. I don't want a small box with no range, but I also don't want a huge box. I want something in between that leans toward the small side. I would model it myself, but I can't find the specs as the site is down. Also, what amp in the ~$200 range would you recommend for this sub? Right now I have a MTX MXA8001 running 800@2. But I'm not sure that I like it.

So I hear that the Polly's are some awesome drivers. So I was thinking about using them with a nice set of tweeters with an x-over. Questions is, how do you run yours passive ? What would be a good tweater to use and a good x-over. Are they a good SQ driver ? I am building a SQ setup.

Ok, I am most likely purchasing the L1 and L4 legatia drivers from Hybrid next week, and would like to use the Assasin 8's to complete a 3-way active component system. My plan was to xover the L4 down to ~140 maybe 150, then have the 8's from that number down to about 45, and the 15" Q from that down to 28. Would the assassin 8 be great for this? also, I wanted to mount it in the doors, (the L4's and L1's are going in kick panels). how wold it do in IB and what kind of power handling am I looking at? (i could build little sealed enclosures for them in doors if needed. (crossing fingers) hopefully will be ready for some of next seasons SQ competitions.

I posted this on RoE and never got a responce so I figured i'd ask on here. I recently bought a blown 15" avalanche- I was wondering if I could still get recone parts to make it match my avalanche 18? If what I am asking is confusing I mean, can I get the same parts used in my working 18, to make my blown one an 18 as well. Meaning same dustcap etc? Do companies know that parts are used in these subs( companies that can recone them) or is there a way I can figure out the exact parts used to let them know? I have never reconed before and would probably be sending the 15 off to get it reconed, but again I am unsure of what to ask the company i'd be sending it to for a r…

I have been running my Avalanche 15 in an unfinished sonotube for many months on a low wattage amp. I have never been able to really crack it up, but hooked it up to a new Sony PA amp and tried it with sine waves from a computer with the amp turned up full. I noticed after a small while the centre of the cone on the speaker was warm and there was a smell starting to come from the port hole in the magnet. How is this possible just from 70 watts ??? I can verify it was about 70 watts as I measured the current and voltage which was 4.7 amps, 14.2 volts with load applied. It would be great if someone could make sense of this.

Hello everyone, well after sitting in the FI forum, I've gotten a good deal recently for the Ascendant audio line up, which I've heard is very similar to the fi q of which I originally wanted for less than that of a Q. Both subs are now pretty much the same price, Havocs being cheaper slightly. So I ask you all if any of you have heard the differences between the Q and the Havor in terms of sound. I've talked to a few people and Scott regarding the two subs, and from what I understand is this. The Havoc was made to handle more power out of the box compared to a Q with no BP option, they were made to handle more power so they should be able to handle a bit more abuse. …

  16. Just wondering how much power you guys are putting to your Havoc's for daily pounding/bass race?? I've been throwing around a lot of different sub configurations/ideas for next year and am considering either 4 x 15in Havocs or 4 x 18's Havocs in a wall in my '04 Trailblazer EXT - I would be running a Sundown SAZ-1500 to each sub - think they would take that power ok?

Well, it has been almost 1 year since the new line of subs and speakers were suppose to be released, and it has been only a few months since the subs have been on the market and the website has not been updated since about December 2006. Most threads on the forum have been directed to Fi to resolve problems, concerns, or questions. As an AA fan I would like to know what the future holds for AA. Will the company remain or melt into Fi. I'm not upset, just curious as to what Chad and the rest of the company has planned. More to come.........

I have a pair of old Atlas 12's left over from a previous install, and was toying around with the idea of putting them into a ported box. Has anyone run atlas's ported and can give me their thoughts on it? Also, what would be a good enclosure design for a ported box for them, thinking low tuned around 30hz or so.....
