General Fi

He wants to compete in local SPL comps, and recently switched from bahns to Vega V-Max. Personally I don't like how the V-max meter or sound, so I am trying to get him to switch to Fi. He is on a pretty tight budget, so I was thinking that the SSD's would be a good option for him to start with. Should the SSD's yield a noticable increase in SPL from the V-Max if they are in a proper box and and correct power?

I have always prefered sealed systems. They always got loud enough, and were easy to build. I just got a D2 Cu voice coil SSD for the wifes car. I have it in a 1.3cuft net box. Approx 1000w available, but its not all being utilized. I feel like I am pushing the sub to its limits, but it's not as loud as it should be. The install is only 2 days old...will SSD's get louder as they break in, like other woofers? I know the alum coil can handle more power, and is peakier....but will it be louder? I think the next step will be a ported box.

got my setup metered at a comp which is 2 12 ssds copper coils on 1500d scored a 140.4 and met a guy with 8 15 ssds cool guy and I believe he is on this forum as well can't remember his name on here. thanks scott for a great product.

lookin at buying a new vehicle and im wondering what the best vehicle would be for 2 18" BTL's ?? iwas thinkin Grand cherokee but i dont think theres enough room, what vehicles do you suggest i check out?

This is a question I was curious about... I know there are recones for the btl. The question I have, is do they come as a kit (including glue, shims, etc.)? If not, what glue do you guys recommend for gluing the surround, and dustcap? Also, is there some type of special gap tool, or shim that you recommend for correctly centering the vc in the gap? thanks

Today I met a guy (goes buy oldschool on termpro) who does like 155.9 with two twelves in db drag. Well personally I wouldnt want to compete with him *street b* so i was looking at doing a street a setup but i have heard that the 10" btl's are not musical that they are just for burps only. So a few questions: 1> How musical are they??? 2> How much power can they handle??? (looking @ 2000 watts right now) 3>Would doing one 12, or 3 8" be better???

It's been a long time since I've been back to the FI forums. Good thing the registration only took all of 2 minutes to complete. I like the new layout too. Ok, first I'll describe what's in my 2004 Mustang: 1) Prototype 12" BTL standard (in a ported custom fiberglass enclosure 32hz) 2) Reconed 12" RE HC (I swap these out every 2 months maybe because I do get picky with sound quality sometimes) 3) RF P800.2 4) and pair of JL 5.25" coaxials on a small 60rms mtx amp Also just got some thick Kicker 1/0 gauge wire which I will be upgrading from 4gauge wire. After the rewiring, I'll be upgrading the amp to possibly the T20001bd or similar output amp. I will post up the pictures…

I am gettin a 18 inch btl soon gonna get 2 in the mean time im gonna be pumping 4000 watts rms at it with the memphis 4kw could it handle that on a daily basses

Will 2 6" Aeros be enough or should i do 3? The external dimensions of the box are 48.5W x 20D x 16H. Looking to tune to around 33hz or so. Help me out here guys need to order the ports from PSP-INC pretty Soon.

So I am trying to decide between either a Q or a BL. I will be picking up either a 12 or a 15, depending on what kind of car I finally decide to get (is it sad that size of the trunk to fit a bigger box is actually a big factor in my decision?). So I am looking for something clean, but powerful. I listen mostly to rap, but I like to mix it up with some rock every now and again. One of the big problems I have with my current setup is that my subs can't seem to keep up with a quick bass line. So I am looking for something quick, yet powerful enough to feed my need. Well I just got my 2 BL 18s and my SSD 12.... They look great... well 2 of um do but UPS threw the one 18 around a little too much and broke the box and scratched the sub grrrrr!. But wow they do look pretty good I will get pics up soon my g/f has my cam so when I get it back I will post. THANKS FI!!!

I just ordered a 15" BL with cooling, flatwind, and unversal. Along with a recone kit for a 12" RE SX sub that I will sell after I recone it. So that 15" BL will be powered by a RF T10001BD whenever I get the amp back from RF, warranty work... That BL will go in my Scion tC, hopefully I will manage to build a 3.5cuft box and do an external tube port, and port that to 30hz. The reason why I want to do tube port is so that I can change it and tune it higher for competitions. I'm just hoping that that box can fit since the Scion tC trunks are kinda small.
