I have four BTL 15 N2s, all ordered and received a couple months ago. The web site claims a cutout diameter of 14.125 inches. Well good thing I measured before I cut, because that's too big for any of my subs. And what's more, the subs all differ from each other! One sub takes a cutout of 13.75, another a cutout of 14, and the final two a cutout of 13.825. (I verified these exactly by cutting different-sized holes in scrap wood with my router, then fitting the subs). All subs have the same outer diameter of 15.5 (again not like the website, which claims 15.625). I must say I'm kind of surprised the manufacturing tolerances in the basket can vary this much? Is this expect…

Been working with a lot of split coil stuff lately with SG3 (Supergauss 3 for those who don't know) and some Industrial applications..thought some of you would like to see some really big off the wall cool stuff that we do that you simply do not see anywhere else...The coil on the right is the original 4" XMX...the one on the left is a 3" coil that we are using for an industrial application. The quarter is in the picture for a size reference... Just another way we march to the beat of our own drum... Just another good Friday! Have a great weekend!

  12. Hi, I ordered an 18" Fi BTL about a month ago, and have been loving it ever since. Great, chest tightening bass at high volume, and nice deep tones at lower volume. I'm running it off a Memphis Audio Mojo 4000 watt amp. I compete ever so often, just to see what kind of numbers I'm putting up, and this sub has been keeping me on top. The only mistake I made was when ordering, I ordered dual 1 ohm coils, and I should have ordered the dual 2. My subs wired @ 2 ohm (under 2000 watt) for daily driving, and for comps I'll wire it down to 0.5 ohm (4000 + watts). I'm on my 3rd box this month because of all the vague sub parameters, but it's been a good learning experienc…

I have a 10" FI Q and a Audioque AQ1200 amp. The amp is a mono but it has 2 speaker terminals. How should it be hooked up?? The sub is a Dual 2 ohm, wired to 1 ohm. The way I have it hooked up right now is 1 positive wire going to the positive connector on terminal 1 and the negative wire going to the negative on terminal 2. Is this correct?? I just want to make sure the amp is giving out a 1 ohm load also so i get the most out of the system. http://www.audioque.com/assets/images/AQ1200_3.jpg Thanks -Mike

Ok i am obviously looking into a FI subwoofer but am confused and having difficulty choosing which one i should get. I heard the BL has more output but the Q hits lower. I want to push my sub at around 1000 wrms. I have a pontiac grand prix and want something that is gonna rumble and turn heads but be able to put out power. The main thing i want to do is put my friends to shame who think their 10" audiobahn is the stuff. Please help me decided. I need opinions. Thanks !!

  18. well its been about a month and im happy to report that my subs are breaking in a little....they are still very stiff so they arent all the way broken in yet but they sound better every day My laptop is broke so i cant meter it ATM and i dont really have a place to do it anyway (or the time to do it) but to me, knowing what it DID sound like, i have to say its louder and has more authority. I can tell by watching the hairtrick vids i made that there is a difference. Also, i usually use the large screws with #3 heads to hold the subs in but for the past year almost i have had to use the "gold" screws from home depot and put them in at an angle to get to "fresh meat". …

Ladies/Gents, Some good friends of mine from college are in a competition for a Dream Wedding giveaway. They are in the running with a local radio station to have their dream wedding given to them if they get enough votes. It is going in 3 rounds so I will update the thread with their stuff as time passes. This is the second of two rounds! They are in second right now and have to be in the top 3 to advance. Please vote for #10, Tiffany Phelps and Joseph Nichols I promise you are not going to get spam email or anything from entering your information. It is simply to keep people from 'cheating'. Please only vote once per round. I do not want them to get DQ'd. http://www.wv…

hey guys im running to sundown saz1500ds strapped at 2 ohms, and 2 btl 18s dual 2s in my s10. i recently reconed. when i slam on them for a few minutes, one woofer gets hot real quick, the other gets warm. they both slap just as hard, but i cant figure out why the one woofer is getting hotter. i checked the tinsels where i soldered it looks good, same as the other one. all the connections are good as well, im using all 8awg wire. i set the gains using a multimeter and there gettin the right voltage the calculator gave me (3000w at 2 ohms - 77.5v) . i also swiched the woofers so the one getting hot was on the other side, and its still only that woofer getting obnormally wa…

Fi will be at SBN Daytona March 23-25th. We will have shirts and stickers for those that stop by (until we run out ) Come hear your favorite song and head cracking levels with the Fi Bassrace Crew... not too mention the insane SPL numbers being turned in the Drag lanes. ****During this period we will have people working production at the factory, but with reduced staff on hand, you might experience an extra day or two of build time**** Sorry Thanks, Scott

Hi, I am driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee (1993) and my current set up is a Memphis MOJO on an Alpine PDX 1.1000. As far as wiring, i have 4 AWG power wire for the amp (Knukonceptz Kolossus Fleks Kable), and I have put in a 0 AWG wire (also Knu) for the battery to chassis ground. I was going to complete the big 3, but was told by a mechanic that the other two were not necessary for my setup (stock 90 amp alt currently.) I receive decent voltage drops (almost massive at idle if i'm not careful.) About 3 weeks a go, my voltage dropped to the point that my amp went into clipping (or at least this is what I think caused it. Gain is set right on or a little below half). L…

Hi. New member signing in. This board appears to have a number of knowledgable as well as experienced individuals, so I'm looking forward to your input. To get down to it... I'm looking at subs. My car is a 2009 Mazda 3 sedan. I listen mainly to rock. Maybe throw in some hip hop. 90/10. I'll be working with approximately 500w RMS @ 2 ohms. My focus is SQ, and (like everyone seems to say) I enjoy listening at higher volumes. This will most likely be a sealed application. I'm comfortable sacrificing in the neighborhood of 1ft^3. I'm probably not experienced enough to call myself an audiophile, but I'm very critical of my equipment. I ask a lot from the products …
