Now before I get into this. I know it is install dependent. But lets say we are talking about 18's. All the 18's are in 8 cubes each. all tuned about 32hz. (or optimal tuning for the sub in question). Which sub is most likely to be the loudest stock if they all had the EXACT same wattage. I always hear about power handling etc. This is something that is important to me. The few post I have seen that somewhat asked about this kinda got redirected to how much power are you using? See BTL is the highest line and has probably the strongest magnet. But is STIFF so I think that hurts it per watt. So same power same box and opt tuning please any help would be greatly appreciated

Ok, Im going to build a fiberglass box.....done a few in the past, but far from an expert (ill have some help). Anyways, Im going to try building around a 12" Fi, and probably a Hifonics BXi2006D = 2000watts @ 1ohm. I will be mostly running the sub for short periods, 30 minutes or less. There will be rare times when I take a trip and will be running the sub for longer periods.....but most likely not at full blast. Im leaning towards LSQ for the most part, but SPL is important as well. Which sub would you recommend, and which options? PS. I live in Northern California.....we get 100+ degree days, but normally when it is that hot, i wont run my stereo very loud, as i run t…

I just picked up a sundown 1500D and now looking for a good sub to mate. Have my eyes on a 15" Q. Do you guys think I need the BP power option? Chances are i will set the gain to about 1200w anyways, b/c, I currently have 4 awg power. If i absolutely need to upgrade to 2 or even 1/0, i will. (I will be running a SAX 100.2 as well). Thanks!

Hello, I need some advise.... I am currently running a Hifonics 1606 monoblock. I have a weak 10" cvr sub and I am looking for a sub with more power-handling capabilities. I have a .6 cuft custom fiberglass enclosure in my FX35. What FI sub do you recommend? I need a 10" sub with around the same mounting depth (my cvr is 5 7/16 inches). I was looking at the Q. Is this the correct way to go?

My Civic sedan has 4 8" JL 8W4IBs in the rear deck. I'm going to "temporarily" disconnect them and put a standard sealed enclosure in the trunk (facing backwards most likely). I'm going to put a couple of 12" subs in there to add some volume to my normal listening fare: Tool, various rap, Tool, other rock, and maybe some Tool. Thing is, the system is a SQ setup and I don't want to sacrifice much of that. The guys from Buwalda/Hybrid Audio turned me on to the Fi Q series. So here's the setup: HU: Alpine IVA-W200 EQ: Alpine PXA-H701 Mid/Tweet amp: DLS A4 (4 ch) Midbass amp: DLS A3 (2 ch) Sub amp: DLS A6 (870w@2ohm, 1200w@1ohm) The front speakers are all Hybrid Audio. S…

more or less i'm just interested in how bl's sound. I ran a 15" q in 4 cubes @ 29hz for about 5 months and loved it, just wasn't loud enough. I bought a btl 12 about a month ago and frankly i think it sounds like crap. Its in this My buddies mt of an xx-herc has the same sound quality to it so i figured its just the way the sub is. Just sounds distorted and almost sloppy. An hk4000 was ran for the most part on both setups(i ran an opti2000d for about 1 month on the q) and will be with the new one. So i want to see if bl's would sound significantly better than the btl's. Wanna do a pair of loaded 15's in 8 cubes net @ 30hz w/ 4 6" pvc ports in the backseat of my chrysler…

I recently purchased a 12" SSD Dual 2 copper coil. I had to wait on the sub and amp but got them in about 2 weeks later. They're rated at 800w RMS so I got an 800w at 1 ohm amp for it. I ran the sub for about 20-30 minutes from my home to work. I had the gain between half and 3/4 up, the bass boost dail about 1/4 of the way and the sub sounded great. Well after work I got back in my blazer and when I turned the HU back up the sub just wasn't putting out what it had been. So I used a different HU, changed all the wires, re-tightened the power wire to the battery. Got a new amp in addition to the new one I had ordered for the sub(the one I had used on the sub in the first p…

Right now i have one W6. It sounds great and i do enjoy SQ but i want more SPL, yet still want to maintain around the same as the w6. Right now i am leaning towards 2 15" Q's running a kicker zr2500.1d to it. The Q's will have the BP Power upgrade. Do the BLs just have alot more SP given the same amount of power, yet lose alot of SQ? I dont want the bass to be completely ridiculous.. like i like ridiculous but i want a nice balance. I listen to Rap , techno, and rock. It will be in an 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee so its an open space. Im pretty sure the Q's are for me, i am just trying to make sure. I like deep notes and accurate bass and im pretty sure that 2 15" Q's…

I just recived my fi Q 15 today and when I opened the box the first thing that I noticed was a big fat smudge on the laminated cone part of the sub. The cone has a 1.5 in by 3 in part that is not shiny just looks like paper. It almost looks like the bottom side of someone's hand got one it while it was still wet. I wasn't to worried about that affecting the performace but then I looked at the back side of the cone one the opposide side of where the the smudge is and the paper is significantly thinner than the rest of the cone. It is also about the same size as the smudge maybe a little smaller. Needless to say that worries me a lil because it looks like a real weak s…

ok currently ive got 1 rf t112d4 on a rf t10001bd. had 2 blew one, replace it and blew the other one. been reading about fi on the smd fourm, and want some. my box is ~2.5 cubes x2 tuned to around 38. the amp puts out 1633rms at 1 ohm. the fi subs have 8 mounting holes? the rfs have 12 so im gonna have to make a new box or put a new front on this one. box cant go bigger. my ?'s are should i get the ssd's? or the q's? i dont like buying the "bottom" line of anything thats why i kinda want the q's. also should i upgrade to 15's? the 12's would be at the max recommended size and the 15's would be .5 under. any input would be appreciated. thanks.
