Hi, I am thinking of getting an SSD motor used and reconing it. I was wanting to know if they are a universal motor and could put either a d2 or d1 recone on it, or am I stuck with what ever impedance that came on the ssd when it was 1st made. thanks

I just recently bought 2 FI BL 12's fully loaded with 4 inch voice coils. I have 2 questions for the forum if you guys can please help with me. First i am running a Rockford Fosgate 2500-1bdcp on the and since the subs are dual 1 ohm is this enough power for them? Second, the enclosure i had built for them is 4.23 cubic feet after everything and tuned to 33 hz. Will they sound good in this enclosure or should i have made it bigger? The amp puts out 3,526 watts total. Thanks in advance.

I think I'm gonna add another sub soonish and am hunting for an amp. My budget will be around $150 and was thinking 500 watts total. I'm going sealed. I have ~160 watts on this one now and it gets loud which is why I was gonna add another with a little more power each. Or would I be better off just getting a bigger amp on the one I have. My budget may go up some just depends on the amp. Definitely not over $200. I have 4ga wire running and will need to put an amp on fronts. I have a 4 channel now running entire system. My car is a 2011 Honda civic systems in Sig. If I'm a noob and you have questions just ask

So is a 3.9^3 box too big for a single Btl N2 12" on a Saz-2500? I know that the spec sheets say 1.75-2.5 cubed. It was professionally designed and the person who designed it says that it still falls within the thermal/mechanical specs for this sub, so they dont understand why i am questioning its size. I don't want to damage the sub with over excursion though, so any input would be great. Thanks!

I've been looking for T/S perams for the FI BTL 18. Searching to no avail I need some help. The reason I need the numbers is to plug them into Termpak so I can design an enclosure for a forum buddy. Any help would be very much appreciated. I need the following: fs (in hz) Qts Vas (in cu.ft.) Xmax (in inches) znom (depends on coil config. I am aware) Pe (rms watts) Spl (in db @ 1w/1m)

Hi to all, this is my first post in this forum I have some question to ask and i hope to get some answers First of all, i have already checked the "SSD Box cut sheets!" topic but the box measures are too big, but also i read the box must be of 6/10 cu.ft So i ask if the following measures are ok for a FI SSD 18" (i want brutal bass, a huge pressure, feel bass hits my head and also get accorded at low frequencies like 30-33) Box: 6.6 cu.ft Box Width = 27.55 inches (70 cm) Box Height = 19.68 inches (50 cm) Box length = 19.68 inches (50 cm) Air Port height = 11.81 inches (30 cm) Air Port width = 3.93 inches(10 cm) Air Port length = 15.74 inches ( 40 cm) I calculated the m…

  10. My buddy bought a Triple stacked BTL (first gen??) and I currently own the 2010? UFO style BL (without red sticker on bottom of magnet). My main point is will it be worth it to get his BTL? Im not sure how much of a difference the generations actually make but I'm assuming a newer generation BL will perform the same as an older generation BTL. Opinions? Im going basically for SPL and the box is 3.75 ft^3 @ 32 Hz. Please no flaming. Im already one hundred percent satisfied with my BL but just wondering if the BTL will give me that extra boom boom ya know. Ohh, and both the subs are fully loaded 15's and will be ran off of my RF T-1000Bd.

what gauge speaker wire would be recommended for 4 10" fi bl (flat wind coil, cooling) i have 12 gauge speaker wire but im thinking that that is too small. its kicker shielded wire. would i be able to tie the 2 wires together and double them up to have roughly 8 gauge wire? or is the 12 going to be enough?

Ok so My FI BL 12" just arrived, i had a 18" previous in my Ford explorer. Now since I have a 240sx i need something smaller. I have my amp (saz-1500D) all set-up and ready to go. I forgot i need to reset my gains because when I tested the sub I could hear it clipping, and for some reason my gain (min/max) control knob mounted at the front of my car did not change the output of the sub. I lost the original cord but i read a phone cord could work so i tried and the blue led works at least. I digress to my problem which is that i forgot how to set my gain. I remember sticking in a 60hz cd at 3/4 full volume and reading the voltage from the amp but i forget the calculation. …

What's the best way to solder the tinsel leads onto the terminals with these new recones that have the leads coming out of the spiders. There are 4 lead wires for each positive and each negative. I think its obvious I won't be able to fit them through the ring on the terminal, so how should they be soldered? Should some slack be left?

my cousin has two tc9 12" subs that are blown. We were wondering if we could order baskets for 15" SSD recones to fit on the magnets. As far as the mounting screws go, they should about all be the same mounting area, correct? Do you think this would work, right recone?

    i. I have an old Fi Q that I need to get reconed. When I cut up the soft parts and cleaned up the basket I. Saw it had "Q D2". I figured that would give away the time period in which it was made. I was wondering the power handling of the magnet, as I was thinking of reconing it with a BL recone kit. Could I do that with a Q magnet? I have a mmatts d300hc reconing it to a dual 1 would be my plan. Could the BL recone work with this magnet?

Okay so I'm going to recone my Q series to a dual 1. Its an older Q d2. I'm running a mmats d300hc to this woofer in a closed box about 2.5 cu ft. I love low bass. I want a recone config good for everyday driving and music. Mostly rap. Go with flatwind? Or copper? I want some leeway to have some fun so should I go with bp options for cooling? Enclosure reccomendations? About to order this shit tonight confirmation in the forum would be optimal

Will I be doing a great injustice to my Q10 by only have 600 on it? It will be in a .6 sealed box. Amp is an Arc XDI600. I was trying to sell the sub but cant seem to get it sold, and am tired of it sitting around. So I finally decided screw the weight gain and am going to put it in my T/A. Thoughts?

-How many spiders are there in the N2? -Can we have super Gauss in the N2 or is it not required/superseded no longer relevant? What are the benefits and is it worth it? -AA SMD is designed by FI right...price and power handling aside which is a better driver for loud daily? Unfortunately I live on the other side of the world and have no way to listen to either of these. Thanks

So, I've got a question regarding the power handling capability of the X series 15" sub. I'm building a Tapped Horn that's going to load the sub down at 25hz and 60hz. I am expecting to see maybe 5mm excursion @ 400 watts at those two frequencies with a max excursion of 14mm @ 30Hz. My question would be, in your guys' opinion, will I burn up the VC because there won't be enough motion to cool the coil off? This whole project is a bit of a technical practical to see how low and loud I can go. The tapped horn should give me excellent low end extension into ~20Hz and keep the coil in the gap @ 400watts. Just wanted your guys' opinion on the power handing capacity. Thank…

Just wondering, because after measuring the space available in my small hatchback with the rear seats out, this is whats available to fit a box in. Was planning to make a box of about 8ft^ net after port and driver displacement, but just asking Have anyone tried something similar? This is for daily music playing, low(ish) power - about 2kw in a nowall setup in a very small hatchback. BTL N2 18" fully loaded is ordered and paid for, just sitting here and waiting for it to arrive. Been a month now

Hey guys, told you I'd be back ... lol ... I recently had the post concerning the enclosure design for the SSD 15 and got that all figured out and taken care off. it looks so sexy with it in the box! Looks like it belongs there lol. Well the Fi sub came in today and I've ran into a problem, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to recone it already within the first 5 minutes of play ... First off let me start off by giving some info, the box of course is tuned to 32hz, I do NOT have a subsonic filter. I was warned of this and my hardheaded self didn't think it would screw anything up that fast. (Almost instantly, bout 5 mins of play time.) The sub is a dual 2 ohm…
