I was wondering if anyone would have any insight on my possible set up plans with my enclosure and sub and amp. First off my vehicle is a 1995 3000gt. I want to go with a single sub because it will be easier and far cheaper to set up. So would a 15 fit or would only a 12 fit? I was thinking either one of those BLs with all the options on a decent 1000-1500 watt amp would probably be ideal? Also are the speaker wire kits on ebay that are 2 gauge ideal? They cost like $40-$70 on there. If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it.

i know first thing everyone will say is why sealed, ive just been a sealed type of guy all my life, nothing against ported..but its not my taste..so i know on fi's site for 18's they suggest 4-8cu ft per sub..im having a shop make my box for me so its not like i can experiment with different sizes..so for a sealed application and for a mix of rap and rock what do you guys suggest in a box size for each 18? space isnt a issue its going in the back of a denali

  4. hey guys, i ordered 3 Q 18'' subs which i intened to use in a ported application but for some reason not sure how the high QTS option was selected..and in the options it says this is for only sealed applications..so i sent a email thinking i would be ok since it says there is a 30 day wait time but i just got a email saying my subs have shipped so im not sure if they got my email in time and made the change or not, so my question is how bad will it sound if i still throw them in a ported box even though they say the option is only for sealed applications?

  5. So... I was on my way home listening to my Q and it suddenly stopped working. I parked and left it on and felt the sub while it was playing. When I pushed in just a tad, I felt it move a little. But when I let off...nothing. I took the sub out and found that the black plastic piece that holds the push terminals in came un glued. Im assuming that's the problem... I tried to get a reading with my DMM, but I think its a piece of junk. It just read 1. My gain is at about half. Amp is a planet audio rxd1000d which im selling soon. 2.5ft^3 box at 32hz. Don't think all that matters though considering I just need to know how to fix it right? Anyways...thanks in advance. Jonathan.…

I noticed that on the first view of the cut sheet for the bl 15 that it says the width of the box is 33 3/4" but on the other two views it is 34" , is that some kind of mix up or am I missing something?

I opened my trunk this morning to find my Q15 had puked out a fairly hefty metal object and blew the dustcap off. I believe this happened listening to the sub well below tuning freq. (tuned to 30 hz. and playing "late Nite tip" by Three Six Mafia) What is this piece of metal and what purpose does it serve? You could stick your hand through the middle of the sub and this piece would have prevented that from happening. If this can be glued back in what do I use? CA glue? The sub still works but i want to fix it before playing it again. Thanks in advance for all of your help!

How risky is it? I searched this forum and the web, and did not find this specific instance of question. I would be wiring it to 2 ohms (1200rms). Had I known bass would get this addictive, I would have got a BTL off the bat!!

  16. I have two Fi 12" old x series woofers the ones sold on the black fiday special. My question is, what is the recomended enclosure volume per speaker for a ported box? I have had them in a sealed 1 cubic foot per sub box since I bought them on black friday. Which has been ok for the time being, but I have moved to a hotter climate, and need a ported box to help cool the woofers as well as get the most spl out of the woofers.

  20. Hey everyone i am interested in buying a Fi BL 15 and i have a chevy s10 ext. cab. My approximate space is 48" length, 17" depth, and anywhere from 17" to 28" height I have a few questions and would be happy with any answers anyone can give me.... 1. I am thinking about building my own box at 4 cubic ft. tuned at 32 or 33 hz, but i do not know how to correctly port a box. anyone that could help talk me through that would be appreciated. 2. An option i was thinking was facing sub forward but i didnt know with 17" depth if i would have enough space between the box and the magnet. (Mounting depth for Fi BL 15 is 8.250") Also if i faced it forwards my depth area would shrink …

I am running a fullyloaded bl15 off a planet audio bb2400 making about 1600rms. Electrical- big three, 1/0 throughout, second battery in rear, voltage stays around 14.3, drops to 13.6 for tones. My first enclosure was 5ft^3 tuned 36, 60 sq" port, with bracing, angle boards and routered port edges. Sub faces drivers seat while port fires up behind passenger seat. I hit a 143.8 meca style. Built a new box 3.5 ft^3 tuned 45 with all the bracing, angle boards and routered port edges and dropped to 141.7. I wanted to find out what box changes I may make to increase score, and if I was crazy trying to reach a 150 with a bl?

hello guys, ive been a member for a while and have read tons of information on the Fi Bl and im ready to pull the trigger on one, but im stuck with one question. I've viewed the cut sheets that are located as a pinned topic, but i was wondering if i could make a slight modification. Since i will be building the box as a center console in my crew cab truck, i will be downfiring the sub and wanted to move the port to the side firing forward. The only reference i can think of on how i want the box to look is like the DD high efficiency box with the side port. Now my question is, am i correct to think that it will be fine and that all i need to make sure is that the port len…

so this sunday, at a local comp i heard rumor that a guy was using a BTL N3 for a daly setup. I ended up seeing his name on the record board and couldnt believe it was true. The guys setup was a 18" N3 box 5 cubes tuned to 35hz, and he metered a 150.7 outlaw in a SUV. i was most impressed. I had the thought that the n3 could NOT play music daily, untill i heard his tonight. It sounded very good. i messaged nick immediately and he got back to me within a couple hours "as usual" and notified me that they can play music, BUT that him and scott believe the motor force is too great and will actually decrease SPL. so in other words you guys, the n3 can be played daily, however …
