  1. Here is the Max Dimensions im working with Height 1 18.5" Height 2 23" Depth 17.5" Width 38.5" 2 15" Q's I figured out if I got with 65 square inch of port (which is only 10.8 per cube) I would have 5.6 cubes internal volume @ 32hz will this be alot louder than 5.2 cubes sealed? I could go with external ports and make it something like 5.8 cubes maybe, Box will be gettin done next week and I'm freaking out cause I want it to be loud Do you think sealed these two 15's will still be alot louder than my old 2 12's Kicker CVX's in a 3 cube ported to about 34hz? I'm gettin a headache just thinking about it

I have a Fi Q 15 with BP power in about a 5 cuft box. 3.5 for the sub and the rest is displacements for sub and port. I have the box tuned to 31hz. I read the recommendations for the sub off of this forum and it says about 12-16 square inches of port area per cubic foot of volume. So that would translate from 42in-56in squared of port cross section and i have about 48 inches squared (its 13.75in W x 3.5in H x 36in L) and not very much air is moving through the port and it is not very loud. Maybe it needs more break in time? Thanks

  4. Hi all, one of my friend just bought a new 18"ssd with Flat wind and Bp power. he wanted to achieve maximum spl with minimum power so a bigger sub was chosen. Now, he has a blaupunkt vpa1500pro amplifier which puts out 950 Rms @ 2ohms and 1500@ 1 ohms. As the sub is dual 1ohms, he will be wiring it at 2ohms for a clean 950rms output. Now the problem starts, the car boot is limited to 4.5cufeet of space at maximum, the idea was to go for a ported box but as recommended by FI on this forum first few topics, atleast 6cufeet is needed for a SSD . And that's true due to its lesser powerful motor compared to Btl's or SMD's which can be used in 4.5 cufeet ported boxes. Roun…

I have an old e12k "blue e cone" DVC 2 ohm, I am hoping I can recone it, its still working and sounds good butI want to renew it I guess, I read somewhere that these were made by RE, so I was hoping I could get an FI recone kit and do it. If this is possible, what could I recone it to? Would the recone kit basicly change the sub into an FI like sub? Or would I need to have a new motor for that? Anybody have any info?

Hello, I'm planning on building my first system and I am wondering what specifications I should get on my FI 15'' BTL. I want to get it to 1 ohm, so would I go with dual 1 or dual 2? I am going to buy an AudioQue 2200D, it is 1 ohm stable. I am going to do the Big 3 once I buy a new HO alternator. Any tips and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is it ok to run 3 subs off 1 amp without any major worries. I was thinkin 3 15" BL's off 1 RF4000.1. What do you think? Or maybe I should just shut up and run 3 SAE-1000D's.

Having 3000 watts on tap, which can be made louder in a large ported box? 4 SSD18's or 2 of the more efficient BL/BTL's? TIA, Carl.

  14. Hey guys, can someone with knowledge I don't have give me a hand PLEASE! I'll be real grateful! I bought my 2 10" FI D2 Q's for this box for my 350Z which has a advertised inside dimensions that produce .70cuft per chamber. Scott's advertised cuft spec for these subs is .20 -.60cuft. So I'm about .10cuft over. First a couple of questions. (getting old sucks....memory shot! LOL!) #1. I think Scott said he wanted the .20 - .60cuft space for the box PRE sub installation???? So in other words don't use the sub displacement itself in the final cuft #. The box without the sub should be .20 -.60cuft. Does that sound right? #2. Obvisously I want the BEST possible performanc…

I have a BTL 15 dual mag hooked up 1 ohm mono to Sundown 3000. When I really want to get on it the sub sounds like it is bottoming out. When I had it hooked up 2 ohms it did not do this. Also I have yet to blow my 100 amp fuse. Have 300 amp fuse standing buy but with the popping I have to keep the sound down enough so I don't know if I'll ever blow this 100A fuse. Doesn't sound like tinsel slap to me. Box is tuned to 35hz and is almost 4cf. Thanks in advance Ronrico Joe

Here is my problem. For quite some time I planned on putting 4 15" BTL's in the bed of my truck, forward facing. I have a fiberglass lid, not a camper shell, so no wall. I know they need to be ported, at least I want them to be. Is there anyway to put the 4 15's in there or will I have to go to either 3 15's or 4 12's. Out of those two, which will be louder and hit harder. I was thinkin the 12's, esp in the box is right. I will be correctly powering each sub, so power is not the issue here. So, what do you think bout my situation and any ideas??????? THANKS

Alright, so i finally have all the pieces together for the btl. Alternator, battery, amp, wiring, ect. So now to this whole... building my own box thing. i would prefer around 32hz and 7.5-8 ft^3 before displacements for sub and bracing. I have 3/4 inch MDF (its actually 11/16ths). So one question is how do i brace it properly? And... i need box calculations for a standard Sub facing up, port facing back of vehicle design. I really like Mac n' Cheese's idea of coating the inside of the box with resin, i might do that. so 7.5-8 cubic feet, 32hz, and the dimensions i have to work with in the back of my explorer are 44.5" wide, 25" tall, 22" deep. Maybe 30" tall if it make…

Hey everyone I made a similar thread some time ago, but it seems to have died and my question today is a bit different. I know it is not designed for it, but I am determined to try my Q12 in a ported box. If it doesnt sound good, I can always put it back in my sealed box. Anyway, since I do have a high QTS version, should any of the suggested box parameters be changed? Say a smaller/larger enclosure or a higher/lower tuning frequency? I should be able to go up to 2.1-2.3 cu.ft after the sub's displacement. And I was planning on tuning to 32hz as that's whats recommended. Also, would polyfill be beneficial, or not? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I'm looking at building a custom box for my 2 fully loaded fi btl 15s and need some help with the dimensioning. Im looking at have a 9.5 net cubic foot box tuned to 32-34hz with a solid wall brace in the middle separating the two subs. For power im looking at either 2 rf t2500-1bds, 2 sundown audio saz 3000ds, or a autotek mean machine 4000.1. Does this seem like a good setup. Im looking at putting it into a chevy silverado ext. cab of course with all of the electrical upgrades also. Thanks for any help
